The Art of Pure Offense
Introduciton
Since BW came to us, I became obsessed with weather abuse. Rain became my preferred weather, because rain is extremely versatile. After BW2 came out, I wanted to try something new. I wanted to try a new style of playing. I wanted to force a fast paced and quick finishing game every game and that how I began developing a pure offensive team.
These are the characteristics I see in an pure offensive team:
-Minimal to no setup conditions (This means no sweepers. Sweepers are too situational).
-Highly Versatile attackers (Attackers have to be able to deal damage without setup and cannot be walled).
-Willing to sacrifice pokemon for revenge kills.
-Careful planning and execution
-Little to no room for mistakes.
This style requires me to play very tactically. Every moves counts. I usually run a simulation of the possible outcome before I choose my lead. A lot times, things have to be timed perfectly or I may as well lose the game.
How I built the team:
Politoad is necessary for rain. Absolutely no reason not to have it.
Tornadus T is extremely versatile. It has speed, decent defenses, and an amazing STAB. This is my primary attacker.
Kedeo serves as my second main attacker. Water hits the shit that hurricane doesn't. It's water attacks are extremely powerful and it can deal with blissey with secret sword.
Latios is the fastest scarf user barring the rare scarf Tornadus and starmie. Latios acts as a check the two main things that threaten Tornadus and Keldeo: Fast Pokemon such as Jolteon, Scarf Terrakion, Scarf Keldeo, scarfs in general.
Breloom is the best stall breaker in the game. It also has one of the best priorities in the game. Breloom's job is to take down ferrothorn and jirachi and bully Tyranitar.
Jirachi is the final member and it really doesn't have a definite role. It can as a punching bag. I switch to Jirachi to check scarf Latios and any Latias and u-turn to gain momentum. U-turn is pretty much Jirachi's role. Everytime I u-turn, I think of it as revenging killing something.
Slave 1 (Politoed) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 216 HP / 252 SAtk / 40 Spd
Modest Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song
- Psychic
A defensive Politoad is a uesless politoad. Scarf politoad is too weak, so that just leaves Specs. I use surf over hydro pump because I don't play with luck. Psychic is for Toxicroak.
*
Slave 2 (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Surf
- Hydro Pump
I have both Hydro Pump and surf. I don't like 80% accuracy, but I have use hydro pump in dire situations and there's nothing really to use as a fourth slot. Secret Sword destroys blissey and 2HKOs Gastrodon. Water attacks deal with pretty much everything that checks Tornadus.
Slave 3 (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 92 SDef / 20 Spd
Impish Nature
- Thunder- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
My stealth rocker. Although, I prefer to u-turn over using stealth rocks. I switch to Jirachi to take dragon attacks and Lati bros and u-turn out to get a revenge kill.
Slave 4 (Latios) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Trick- Thunder
Draco Meteor is obvious. Psychic over psychock because it does more damage usually. Thunder is for OHKO Tornadus-t, Gyarados, starmie and dealing damage to Jirachi. Trick is for Blissey and really any annoying wall.
Slave 5 (Tornadus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Sleep Talk
I use hurricane 90% of the time. There shouldn't be a reason to use LO when 9% of the time, I'm using u-turn. Sleep talk is for breloom. I have a 50% chance of U-turn or hurricane. I'm prepared for both cases.
slave 6 (Breloom) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 40 SDef / 216 Spd
Adamant Nature- Mach Punch
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Bullet Seed
Breloom is the final member and he hits like a fucking truck. I usually go for the spore and focus punch the shit out of anything that switches in.
Here are some calcs for Focus punch:
0/0 Latios: 70.09% - 82.39%, Mach punch bye bye
0/0 Latias: 65.73% - 77.25%, Mach Punch bye bye
252/0 Scizor: 102.03% - 120.34%
0/0 Starmie: 77.01% - 90.42%, Mach Punch bye bye
0/0 Tornadus-T: 70.56% - 82.94%, Mach Punch bye bye
Max Skamory: 60.17% - 70.65%, If it roosts, it's dead.
252/0 Jirachi: 86.88% - 102.47%
0/0 Landorus: 60.18% - 70.84%
The moral of the story is that if Breloom spores you, something will die.
