VGC The awakening of an OU player ! VGC15#1

Hey everyone, this is my first RMT in this forum, and I hope you that dedicate some of your precious time to criticize my humble team. As you can see in the title, I was an OU player since the beginning at GEN 4. I didn't even know VGC existed until like GEN 5 end, and that is because we don't have official Pokemon competitions here. But before like 3 months I met a local Pokemon group that played VGC and had tourneys and stuff so I just tried VGC and liked it actually. It appears that VGC is fast and fun, and still got the thinking part there, whereas OU is slow and boring to be honest sometimes.

Anyways, I made a team that is able to counter or check most of the famous Pokemons in VGC. I actually made an Excel file that has the viability ranking Pokes with their respective counters, and then counted the most common pokes that cover most of the threats. Basically, this team is really flexible, but sometime it fails me. Sometimes I just say that I lack experience so that is why I lose, so I want you guys to tell me if that is right or not..

Khoaf (Landorus-Therian) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 108 HP / 132 Atk / 28 Def / 240 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
- Superpower

The most used pokemon, 'nuff said. This guy here is one with the best VGC pokes for a number of reasons. Intimidate, Good bulk and high attack, earthquake STAB, rock slide. Basically I lead with him when I don't see Milotic or Bisharp in the opponents team, which really makes some trouble for him. The EV spread is a bit different. It is made in a way that it can withstand a +1 Sucker Punch from a Bisharp. I think that I can actually decrease the speed EV and add to the Atk but I am not sure really.

Flareagle (Talonflame) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 244 Atk / 92 SpA / 172 Spe
Naive Nature
- Brave Bird
- Overheat
- Taunt
- Protect

Should I work with gamefreak on naming pokes ? xD Anyways, my man here Flareagle has the priority Brave Bird which is the main move it has. You might be asking me about the Overheat, well, I don't know, I got it from someone. I think it is that most super effective hits from fire types are resisted by physical defensive pokes. I ran taunt because I need it in this team .I also felt that life orb+ brave bird can really hurt sometimes.

Motor (Rotom-Wash) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 236 HP / 68 Def / 80 SpA / 104 SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

I always lead with him! This guy can really clean teams from threats. *Ba Dum Tss* .. I got the build from someone, and I think it makes Rotom-w bulky and versatile too. Sitrus is one of the best items actually for rotom, as its HP is low. It's only afraid from grass and dragon types, but I think that the team can really help rotom in this problem. Landorus-t can't touch rotom-w, which is a great thing.

Khas (Venusaur) (M) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 SpA
Modest Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Protect

My Mega! Venusaur is really bulky and can hit those fairies hard too! Cybertron used it in alot of videos that he posted and I think it is really a fantastic pokemon.. With the build, it can be a real tank. Leech seed is actually not used alot from my side for some reason, but I think it is one of the most crucial moves that venu has.

Checkmate (Bisharp) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Protect

Bisharp isn't used alot actually but is my only answer to some pokes like gengar or gardevoir. Focus sash can be critical and offer you some extra damage on the opponent. This is set is the default, but if someone has a better build, feel free to tell me ! Bisharp can also beat Cresselia which is one of the bulkiest mons in the metagame, and it also can deal with Aegislash too.

Kerration (Terrakion) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Slide
- Close Combat
- Quick Guard
- Protect

I added terrakion recently instead of sylveon, because it almost countered the same pokes and offered quick guard and stab rock slide to the team. I haven't really felt a big difference but maybe it is better. It can hit Zapdos really hard, which is nice since I don't have something for him.

This is the end of my RMT , so please make any amount of effort to rate it and I will be very grateful for that. Thanks for coming !

Hey Wolvren, this team actually looks really great! I haven't really got many criticisms, but one change I'd suggest is putting Sleep Powder over Leech Seed on Venusaur. While Leech Seed is certainly a viable option, I usually find the ability to immobilize one of the opposing Pokemon for a few turns more useful than the steady damage and recovery Leech Seed provides. That said, it's really a matter of personal preference between the two, but I thought'd I'd chip in my opinion. It'd also be nice if we could see some more detailed descriptions on what the EV spreads on Venusaur and Rotom accomplish in terms of defensive benchmarks. Good luck with your team, and enjoy VGC!
