the beast still lives( shut down stall )

okay in 4th gen my favorite team was a stall team featuring in my opinion the most and i say most underrated: stall Pokemon torment tran. torment tran simply does not die if you play it with even a shred of competence.now to the team.

Tyranitar (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/126 Atk/12 Spd/120 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Rest
- Pursuit
this is the same tyrannitar from my 4th gen team and it works the only difference its that i know run rest over superpower because of weather wars people simply do not see rest coming. the 12 speed evs where to out speed other bulky tyranitars which are pretty much the only set run now a days. stone edge is obligatory stab and pursuit if for rain team latias, latios, politoed, ninetails and more who like to play the hit an run game.

Ferrothorn (F) @leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs:252 HP/48 Def/208 SpD
nature: relaxed (+ Def/ -Spe
-Power Whip
-Leech Seed
-Spikes
-Thunder Wave
for this team to shine hazards must be set and what pokemon forces alot of switches and can lay hazards and not be total set up fodder: ferrothorn. i choose spikes over steath rocks because i usually am able to set up no less than 2 out damaging steath rocks on a number of pokes. power whip is the stab move that does decent damage and leech seed if for recovery thunder wave is a neccesity because while ferrothorn is amazing it can be potential set up fodder and it destroys the hope of weather sweepers trying to sweep me

Tentacruel (F) @black sludge
Ability :Liquid Ooze/ Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
nature: Bold (+Defense, -Atk
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Hidden Power Fire / Ice Beam

This set uses Tentacruel's ability to lay down Toxic Spikes and spin other hazards away and absorb toxic spikes , making it a nice addition to stall. tentacruel is a great pokemon that can live long if it gets burns with scald to offset its bad defense. the set is pretty explanatory except for the last slot it depends on what your team is weak to i personally look hidden power fire to make it the PERFECT counter to ferrothorn it doesnt lose hp from leech seed actually hurting ferrothorn it can spin ferrothorns hazards away AND can threaten it with hidden power fire

Ryans_Dragonite_anime.png

Dragonite (F) @leftovers
ability: Multi Scale
EVs:252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
nature: Careful (+Spd, -Spatk
-Dragon Tail
-Roost
-Thunder wave
-Substitute
i love this thing if given the right support i don't even have to use torment tran. torment tran and dragonite a literally a team on their own. multi scale is a god spend to dragonite it can run a dragon dance set with roosts which is deadly but a para shuffler with hazards laid is just so ridiculously good. come in at full heath paralyze the opponent on the first turn set up subs till they get paralyzed then dragon tail them out and roost and repeat.

Rotom_Hydro_Pump.png

Rotom-W @choice scarf
EVs: 38 HP/220 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- hydro pump
- Hidden Power fire
- Trick
scarf rotom is valuable to this team. very valuable. it helps me revenge a lot of threats to this team and set up sweepers like lucario jolly gyrados and more
and trick helps me break through walls easier. i run 220 evs because that's all the speed i need the only reason to run full speed is to speed tie at best with other rotoms. i would rather have some bulk witch lets me live some key attacks

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/140 Spd/18 SAtk/100 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Torment
- Protect
- Lava Plume
I will be cliche because it is simply the truth. it is the star of the show. this thing is a beast. i will ramble on about how good this thing is because it is amazing you don't know how amazing i can play like an idiot and the only thing i do is set up hazard while i let my team get KOed and i am down 6-1 i am pretty sure i would still be pretty sure i would win that's how good this thing is. if i can get a successful sub up, this is a guarantee you wont and i say wont touch me for a WHILE. the only things that can beat this set are non choiced heatran, gyrados, swampert and things with rest. but thats what my team is for to eliminate those things so the beast can shine

skarmory @leftovers (thanks to soulfly) replaces ferrothorn
ability: Sturdy
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
move 1: Roost
move 2: Spikes
move 3: Whirlwind
move 4: Brave Bird
the defensive bird stands true in yet another generation after pointing out my excadrill weakness i promptly changed to skarmory as it also lays down spikes and can help me phaze to weaken pokes and get everything poisoned for heatran and dragonite

Your team seems to be very weak to earthquake , after dragonite dies you really have nothing against an excadrill that is earthquaking you in the sand.
Air balloon on heatran will help on that part.

Why using shadowball on rotom? Why not hydro pump ?

You also dont seem to have anything against latios/reuniclues and so on .
I have a specially bulky Ttar for that , wich might help you out just as good.
It can survive a focus blast with decent hp , and if you give it leftovers it is far from KO'd by a draco meteor/surf/ and so on .

PS: Why such big images T.T

oh yeah sorry i do have hydro pump on rotom i was posted the set i used in 4th gen also i need effective recovery on heatran thats why i dont use air balloon and thanks to team preview i will know if i need to save dragonite and can you post the tyranittar if it will help thanks for your time :D

Thanks to team preview a switch to dragonite can be predicted rather easely too.
Considering Stealth rocks will almost always be there to kill the multiscale people will go with an ice/rock attack instead of their earthquake.
Therefor alone you should try and have another earth resistant pokemon too.
Skarmory would work as he can take alot of the threats i just listed.

in a metagame defined by the competition between sand and rain, it might be instinctive for you to put a weather changer on your team. i don't think that's entirely necessary for this team, though. tyranitar does give a little bit of support to heatran for causing some poke's to lose hp faster and keeping its lava plume powerful, and also to tentracruel for keeping hp fire powerful enough to hurt ferrothorn and scizor. the sand also nullifies dragonite's leftovers, however, often preventing his multiscale from activating. also, he isn't offering much besides stealth rock when you're facing no-weather teams or other teams with sand. i highly suggest replacing tyranitar with a specially defensive jirachi. jirachi would be an enormous help against rain teams, especially since you traded ferrothorn for skarmory. it can also set up stealth rock just as well if not better than tyranitar and would be a huge help to dragonite and skarmory as a wish-passer. it is also one of the few "counters" to CM virizion, which is a huge threat.
as i said before, tyranitar helps keep heatran's lava plumes powerful against rain. however, lava plume seems like a weird choice, especially considering you're using toxic spikes. if it's passive damage you want, i'd at least try out magma storm. i wouldn't say that you necessarily have to use it over lava plume, but magma storm works better alongside toxic spikes. you might also want to try out flamethrower.

I don't think anyones pointed out this teams biggest weakness: no spin blocker. if your hazards get spinned, this whole team falls apart

I don't think anyones pointed out this teams biggest weakness: no spin blocker. if your hazards get spinned, this whole team falls apart

this is a good point. unfortunately, spinblockers are hard to come by in the BW metagame. gengar and the other offensive ghosts don't last long enough, dusknoir lacks STAB, HP and speed, rotom-a isn't a ghost anymore, and drifblim has a terrible defensive typing. that leaves few options.

jellicent is probably what most people would pick first. the taunt set would be very helpful against other defensive teams. however, adding it to your team would give you a third pokemon weak to electric moves. the only thing that could even take electric moves on your team would be jirachi if you decided to use it.

dusclops is actually superior to dusknoir this generation thanks to eviolite. he would last a very, very long time if you gave him wish support from jirachi. however, a lot of the time he just acts as a sitting duck thanks to his lack of offense and speed.

a set that i used to help me get to 1439 on smogon's ladder is kind of like a mixture between taunt jellicent and WoW eviolite dusknoir.

Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Bold, 252 hp 252 def 4 speed
Levitate
-Taunt
-Will-o-Wisp
-Pain Split
-Shadow Ball/Perish Song

this doesn't look like it should be seen outside of little cup, i know, but it's actually surprisingly bulky. it reaches 360 defense with eviolite and max investment, and is great against spinners as well as hazard layers and walls in general. on the team i used it on i wasn't even using wish for it and it was still lasting a while when i played it smartly.

all of those pokemon would be decent choices, but it would be difficult to choose which team member to get rid of. looking at your team, tentacruel might not be as necessary as it first seems. the two pokemon that depend on it the most already have moves intended to inflict status, making toxic spikes a bit unneccessary. that leaves you without a rapid spinner, but jirachi can remedy that somewhat with wish. (if you use it)

or you can just not use a spinblocker. forretress, starmie and tentacruel aren't exactly as common as they once were, so not every stall team needs one.

Nice team. I just have a few nitpick suggestions. For Tyranitar, I suggest using chesto berry over lum berry to guarantee that you can pull at least one good rest off. Heatran can switch into wisps and toxics anyways. Tyranitar doesn't mind being paralyzed. For Tentacruel, change black sludge to leftovers. Yes, I realize hurting a trick pokemon is fun at frist, but you have a stall team. In the long run, the trick pokemon could seriously hurt you by putting the sludge on one of your other pokemon. For Skarmory, test out sky drop over brave bird as it can rack up residual damage on the pokemon you use it on.

Nice team. I love TormenTran too; when I use it in D/P, I probably get more RQs than normal victories haha. Just a few nitpicks:

1)First off, I would get rid of the slashes on Tentacruel. Liquid Ooze and HP Fire are his best options by far.
2)If you do run HP Fire on Tenta, I'd consider changing Rotom's to HP Ice. Ferrothorn and Scizor are already handled well, while HP Ice can surprise pokemon like Dragonite or 'Mence.
3)I think someone's already mentioned it, but a Chesto Berry a better choice for Tyranitar.
4)I'd consider giving Dragonite a few Def EVs to help him against physical threats. His Special defense is already stellar. Also, what nature are you running on him, Careful or Jolly? Careful is +S.Def, -SpA.

wow thanks for the suggestions i put specially defensive jirachi on my team and replaced tenatcruel with the bulkyy misdreaveus and it works well
