THE BEST OF THE WORST!
A PU RMT

Hello everyone! This is Leafshield with my first ever RMT. Instead of some other tiers that I play, such as NU or OU, I have decided that my first RMT would be in my all time favorite tier at the moment: PU! PU is a really fun and diverse tier, and I'm a huge fan of being able to use my favorite Pokémon to great effect, without having to rely on absurd gimmicks. As you can see, the team is fairly standard offense; we have the ever standard Stealth Rocks, a TauntTurner that allows my frail sweepers to get in relatively safely, a set up sweeper, a nice and bulky pivot, a sweeper, and a nice Scarfed cleaner. One thing I like to pride myself in is that I have still preserved my favorite Pokémon's spot on this team, that Pokémon being Stantler, and have had good success with it. Now, I'm not the best battler or teambuilder, so any help would be appreciated! Now, onto the team!

THE TEAM

Stantler @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature:
Jolly Nature
~ Double-Edge
~ Megahorn
~ Sucker Punch
~ Earthquake

Stantler is the Pokémon that this team was based around. With a strong base 95 Attack and a good base 85 Speed, Stantler acts as my primary physical attacker due to its ability to outspeed and KO many common threats such as Vileplume, Modest Golduck, Mantine outside of Rain, and Ursaring that run Guts. The EVs are pretty standard; maximum Attack and Speed with some stuff thrown in HP for switching into rocks or what have you. The main reason I wanted to use Stantler was its awesome ability in Sap Sipper, allowing me to get a free attack boost when switching into things like Vileplume and Meganium. The moves, contrary to what everyone keeps telling me, are allowed in this combination on PS! (Megahorn is illegal on PO for some reason, however. If you would like to test the team on PO, I would recommend Wild Charge over Megahorn.), and they work very effectively. Double-Edge is used over Return because its the only Normal-Trype move that Stantler gets that Stoutland doesn't, as well as for the extra power. Though, it does pose an issue at times, as Stantler gets worn down easily with recoil and Life Orb. If there is an item anyone would recommend over LO, I would love to hear it. Megahorn is great for hitting the Grass-Types Stantler commonly switches into, hitting every single one for SE damage besides Jumpluff (besides something silly like Grotle or Ivysaur or what have you). Sucker Punch is great for picking off faster threats, such as Rotom-F, who would otherwise give my team some trouble. And finally, EQ is to hit troublesome Fire-Types who scare Rotom-F and Vileplume, as well as the uncommon Steel-Type (Lairon in particular) for big damage.

Relicanth @ Leftovers
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Nature: Adamant Nature
~Stealth Rock
~Waterfall
~Head Smash
~Double-Edge / Earthquake

Relicanth is my favorite lead in PU, bar none. Not only can it set up rocks, but literally nothing likes to switch into Adamant Waterfalls or Head Smashes. The use of Rock Head is specifically for Head Smash (or Double-Edge if I'm running it), but I can see myself using Sturdy or Swift Swim to ensure Rocks stay up or to combat rain better, respectively. In that case I would probably replace Head Smash with Stone Edge and Double-Edge with EQ. Stealth Rock is necessary for the team, ensuring those KOs and wearing down annoying walls like Audino a little and keeping Rotom-F at bay. Waterfall is to hit common leads like Gigalith and Graveler hard, as well as for a strong STAB. Head Smash is also STAB, and hits those annoying Flying-Types that sorta bother my team. It does major damage to Rotom-F, as well. Finally, Double-Edge is a strong neutral attack for when the opponent resists both of my STABs, but not much else. I'm thinking of going with EQ, though, so I can hit the Fire-Types without the fear of missing Head Smash.

Golbat @ Eviolite
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Impish Nature
~Taunt
~Roost
~U-Turn
~Brave Bird / Haze

At this point I noticed a raging Fighting-Type weakness, which is never good, so I went with a Taunt Golbat. Golbat is so good at keeping momentum, its not even funny. It's great speed and great bulk allow it to come in and wall any Fighting-Type attack that threatens my team, even without defensive investment. Taunt and U-turn are the crux of the set. Taunt helps me stop the progress of setup sweepers who annoy most of my team as well as keep SR off my side of the field, which is helpful in and of itself. Roost is for reliable recovery (I just have to watch out for try-hard predictors with EQ) and I'm kinda torn on the last slot. Brave Bird hits pretty hard, even with minimal investment, but Haze is awesome for things like Arbok and Fraxure. Either way, its a tossup.

Vileplume @ Leftovers
Trait: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDef
Nature: Bold Nature
~Giga Drain
~Aromatherapy
~Sludge Bomb
~Synthesis

Vileplume is a great pivot in the tier, for sure. With great bulk, awesome defensive typing and cool supportive movepool, Vileplume is essential to my team as he can survive those tough defensive switch-ins. The EV's, again, are standard (I need help with EVs, guys :P), as are the moves. Giga Drain and Sludge Bomb are for good STABs, Aromatherapy to heal up mostly paralysis, since that's the most annoying thing for my team. And Synthesis is for healing Vileplume up in stall wars or what have you. I'm considering Sleep Powder, as I had it on there before, but it missed way too much for my liking :(.

Rotom-Frost @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid Nature
~Thunderbolt
~Volt Switch
~Blizzard
~Trick

There's a reason Rotom-F is like, the most used Pokémon in the tier. Its fast, bulky, has a great offensive typing, and deals with threats like Golduck and Vileplume handily. The EVs are standard yada yada yada, as are the moves. TBolt for damage output being amazing, Volt Switch for momentum, Blizzard for inaccurate but powerful secondary STAB, and Trick to fuck over Audino. Nothing else to say here, really :x.

Grumpig @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpDef
Nature: Modest Nature
~ Calm Mind
~ Psychic
~ Whirlwind
~ Hidden Power (Fighting)

Here is probably the star of the team. Grumpig is a beast; its strong Special Attack and Special Defense allow it to wall plenty of the tier's special attackers, including fellow Psychic-Type Mr. Mime, a major threat to my team. It also gets Thick Fat, helping my team sponge Fire- and Ice- Type attacks that threaten... like all of my team. The set is mostly standard, except for Whirlwind over Substitute. I have an extreme weakness to a lot of setup sweepers, and Whirlwind helps a lot against SubCM Golduck, Grumpig, and Mr. Mime. I've had quite a few Mr. Mimes try to set up on me thinking Soundproof blocked both Roar AND Whirlwind lol. Psychic and HP Fighting is solid coverage in my eyes, allowing me to do damage to Dark- Types (thought those are uncommon) and most things that resist Psychic, sans other Psychic- Types (which are mostly dealt with by Stantler.)

IN CONCLUSION

Welp, that's the team! I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did making it! I really hope this RMT may interest people in PU, as it's a really fun tier with a ton of variety and mons you may have never used before!

Once again, I hope you all enjoyed :)

sap sipper in conjunction with sucker punch and megahorn at the same time as well as double edge are illegal on stanler. ps probably allows this since it has allowed a lot of other impossible combinations before but if you try it on po they won't let you. you could probably use return over double edge and something else in place of megahorn (maybe hypnosis since it doesn't have or need many other options). you also might wanna try focus blast over hp fighting on grumpig since it doesn't do nearly as much to audino which is the main special wall in pu.

Well, I guess I'll settle for intimidate then. That could also be helpful for my team, so that won't be so upsetting.

I used to have Focus Miss on Grumpig, but I hate missing :(. I'm risking plenty with blizzard on fridge-Tom because of my terrible luck. I do miss out on some damage, but more damage doesn't help if I doesn't hit. Idk, I'm a tad shaky on change, but I'll try it again.
