The "Blaze Luminous" Sun team.

Hey smogon! This is my first RMT so be nice about the format please.
This is a sun team. So far it's been pretty effective. There are a few things that I just can't pinpoint though. That's what you guys are for! Let's jump right in!

Ninetales @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SAtk / 20 SDef / 108 Spd
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Ninetales, the staple of sun teams. I will be honest I have played around with his set countless times. Went from nasty plot to swagger substitute insanity. I actually fell in love with confuse ray at one point. I of course tried a sunny day set. That didn't work on better players. I understand that had something to do with my skill as well but...let's talk about the set. EVs are standard smogon evs for the sunny day set. With a set twist. 9 times out of 10 they switch politoed into ninetales. For the rain up and the fire resist. After one sunny day they would play around with my heart by switching around and not directly into politoed anymore. I got sick of that. And instead of sunny day, I just slam his face with an energy ball. The success rate is rather high for winning the weather war when he switches into a will-o-wisp then gets slammed by energy balls. HP ground for heatran and chandelure who own me. I am very willing to accept set changes if someone is thinking ninetales can help out more.

Salamence @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 96 Atk / 216 SAtk / 196 Spd
Rash Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Brick Break
- Roost

Oh boy, this guy. Is it THAT rare to see a mixmence nowadays? People always assume he is a dragon dance set. Even when they figure out he isn't, he is always a pain in the ass for the opponent. I have played around with this slot a few times, tried out scizor, specs raikou, trick room reuniclus and a few others. Weatherball raikou works astonishingly well. He is in general a great pokemon. Very overlooked. This is the standard smogon set with a slight ev tweak. Some extra speed to always outspeed jolly draognite. Something that has come in handy quite a few times. He works as a fantastic mixed attacker being used to punch holes in the opposing team with with his powerful draco meteor and powered up fire blast. Roost is great when I switch in on the intimadate and get a free 50% hp. His hp goes down surprisingly fast with life orb while the enemy frantically switches to avoid lethal blows. If anyone has any suggestions for a switch, I am keeping an open mind with this slot.

The Conductor (Arcanine) @ Life Orb
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- ExtremeSpeed

Arcanine has been my favorite pokemon since I played red/blue as a wee lad. Very happy I can use him and he isn't dead weight. Far from it. I nicknamed him The Conductor for he is the one that rams the pain train up the enemys asses. His main function is that of salamence. Punch holes in the enemy team. His super effective coverage is quite a thing to behold. His secondary function is to eat fire attacks. Have you seen a flash fired Flare blitz under the sun? It's not a pretty sight, let me tell you. His main switch in is onto heatran. to eat the dangerously powerful fire blast then strike back with a powerful close combat almost always ohkoing, with rocks it will always ohko. Whether it is specially defensive or offensive. He also takes volcarona for a ride around the world with a flare blitz from the gods.
He is also my only priority holder which is damn important in my opinion. Also, it's a pretty hilarious way to kill a ninjask baton passer when you spam espeed. My only problem with him is that he has a large amount of self inflicted damage which isn't cool. He is usually the one I reserve Cresselia's Lunar Dance for. He has a nasty late game sweep.

Donphan @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge

Donphan does his job. And that is setting up rocks and spinning them away. this team has worked well with him here. He is a solid jirachi counter. I also use him as a ways to scare off Tyranitar. It usually works. He also handles the crap out of Tentacruel in the sun. However he is no starmie and gets blocked by jellicent. He is also a solid dd draognite counter. With rock up he knocks it out of the sky with stone edge. Although I think ice shard will work better. He usually handles volcarona if his sturdy is intact. He's a decent utility poke in my mind. If any suggestions I am keeping an open mind.

Blitzen (Sawsbuck) @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 140 HP / 252 Atk / 116 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Jump Kick
- Return
- Swords Dance

Enter Sawsbuck. He is in my opinion the best chlorophyll sweeper in pokemon as of now. Venusaur is plagued by 4 moveslot syndrome. He has amazing coverage in these few moves. Stab Return is absolutely disgusting. Neutral on almost everything and jump kick for things that it isn't. Horn leech gets back that lost hp you lose from life orb. Makes ground beef of rotom-w. He also is my occasional switch onto politoed. Whatever HP he loses switching in is gained back if politiod decides to stay in. If I ever get 2 swords dances I always win. He normally gets brought out mid/late game when scizor is dead. Along with some other things. Skarmory never lasts very long with this constant barrage of fire moves. Sometimes I swap in nature power. considering this set is walled by chandelure. I almost always regret using nature power. If I have 2 swords dances chandelure is toast from horn leech. After 2 sr switch ins chandelure gets nailed by one swords dance anyway. The team normally wears things down for this little guy to spread all his christmas cheer. An Integral pokemon to this team.

Cresselia @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Ice Beam
- Lunar Dance
- Moonlight
- Thunder Wave

Ahh, finally we reach Cresselia. My only defensive pivot unless you count donphan. She really is a wonder. She tanks attacks like no other. Her survivability is just astounding in the sun. Recovering 2/3rds of her hp in one turn is really nothing to laugh about. Her main role is of course a defensive pivot to this offensively oriented team, she provides very important paralysis support that Arcanine and Salamence REALLY appreciate. It lets them do quite a bit of damage while not being as restricted by their lower speeds. Ice beam is to nail gliscor who thinks it's cool to try and stall me out. For the second it uses toxic it falls right out of the sky. It also is THE most reliable dd dragonite counter I have ever seen. I switch into her on the DD and fire off ice beams while not worrying because he does like 30% damage or something with outrage. She is basically my answer to everything I am afraid of. She has an amazing support move in Lunar Dance. She may die in the process, but I only use it when She has already played her roll in the battle. Normally passing on her life over to Arcanine because he has a suicidal personality for whatever reason. Or if Sawsbuck gets wounded on a botched switch in, have no fear Cresselia will sacrifice herself for the greater good.

So, that's my team! It's served me well so far. Let the harassment begin!
PS: I suppose the name of the team "Blaze Luminous" would better suit a stall team?

EDIT: Copy/pasting pictures won't work? If anyone knows how to remedy my ignorance PM me.

nice team overall. Specially defensive tyranitar may harass ninetales though. sawsbuck is great for handling him, but beware of ghosts!

He actually is a slight problem. Normally I will-o-wisp him and play the switch game. Or Sawsbuck his face off. I try not to toss around jump kick when the opponent has ghosts hahaha.

Hey cool team man :) Love the mixmence, odd how rare they are these days.

So first thing that comes to mind is that your Ninetails really doesn't do much; while that can be said for many Ninetails, yours really just hits over Weather for a little damage and then gets massacred. I suggest running a more defensive spread, the set I suggest is:

Ninetales @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SDef / 136 Spd
Calm Nature
- Flamethrower
- Substitute
- Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
- Hidden Power [Fighting] / Energy Ball

This set has much more staying power, and lets face it, even with all those SpAtk EV's Ninetails ain't doing to much damage. This set thrives but setting up a Sub as an opponent switches in a weather starter and statusing them. After that you can begin to stall them out. The final move is a choice on whether you want to it Ttar or Toed harder.

Finally I see your team having a hard time against opposing sun and Volcarona in particular. I suggest replacing Cresselia with Heatran. The set I suggest is:

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SpDef
Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Protect
- Toxic

This guy will help you a lot against sun and Volcarona. It can also be a great way to Toxic Politoeds as they love switching into Heatran's predicted fire move. I hope you try this guy out he won't disappoint. Cresselia really is only useful when your team is weak to fighting, but between Salamence and Sawsbulk you should be fine.

Good Luck!

Thanks, joey. Those suggestions are definitely worth trying out. I'm rather worried about dragons without cresselia, though.
EDIT: between salamence and sawsbuck? Sawsbuck is weak to fighting. =(

I think that you could try a classic Mixed Infernape over Salamence as it benefits more from the sun and can beat down Ttar and Heatran with STAB Close Combat. Stone Edge will keep your offense against dragons with flying secondary typing. You can even use HP Ice on it if you want to.It is also neutral to stealth rock if you can't spin with Donphan. However another fire type on your team would not be very beneficial, so you could try using a Focus Sash Reversal Dugtrio over Arcanine. This is a set specifically made for taking down Ttar everytime and can even get Stealth Rock up in the process. It is also useful for eliminating non Air Balloon Heatran. It can also take a good chunk out of Politoed. Because of Dugtrios coverage being the same as Donphan then you could switch it for one of two rapid spinners. Offensively there is Starmie which does well against rain teams and dragons. Defensively there is Hitmontop which has great physical bulk like Donphan, combined with Intimidate which really helps against boosting Dnites and Gyar.
Bear in mind that these suggestions are very much focused on helping you to win the weather war and to stop Heatran from messing up the Ninetales strategy suggested above so you may find them to be too niche for your liking. Sorry for the lack of copy able sets, I'm not at a computer just now. They are easily found on the smogon analysis.
