Hello everybody!
This is a synergic balance team that attempts to have a reliable answer to the most common threats of the OU metagame, perhaps you have recently seen lots of teams similar to this, since the Venu-Tran core with balanced teams has been becoming very popular. I think this team is a good example of how the trend has been developing (but I think that it can be improved a lot), I hope you like it and have a nice time reading through this post.

Team building process:
I started with Landorus, an amazing special sweeper, as my base for this balanced team.
Then I added Keldeo and Tyranitar to have a great coverage core.
Then a defogger + a Venu-Tran core was added.
In this step i made some corrections and the team started to take form, Landorus was replaced with its therian forme to deal with megazards better and Thundurus was chosen over Tyranitar to synergize more with Heatran.
This is the final version of the team (with four blue pokémon). Azumarill took Keldeo´s place giving me a more reliable way to beat Greninja, Gliscor fitted synergicaly with thundurus (I was also needing something better to face bisharp, since lando giving it a +1 wasn´t my best option). In this step Latias was running Defog and 3 attacking moves, so I switched it to Latios for a higher base special attack.
The team in depth:
@
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 184 Def / 252 HP / 72 Spd
Impish Nature
- Protect
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Earthquake
This guy is OP! Gliscor can break unprepared teams with ease and also works as a great Charizard X and Mawile counter. The moves and EV spread form the almost immortal SubTox Gliscor set, which helps a lot to my team dealing with important mons and absorbing status. EQ lets me hit things that A) are immune to toxic or B) were problematic for the team. Protect + Substitute added to Gliscor´s great speed stat let me recover as much health as possible while stalling the foe until it faints with Toxic. This works in the team with the role of physical wall.
@
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Knock Off
Azumarill breaks through most offensive teams, and with an Assault Vest can take hits from common Pokémon like Greninja. Aqua Jet + Huge Power is very useful, as it lets me KO previously weakened mons. This guy also has great synergy with the Venu-Tran core that this team has and works nicely with Latios and other members of the team. The EV spread is there to use Assault Vest to boost Azumarill´s slightly invested special defense, while focusing on HP and Attack to make a deadly bulky physical attacker.
@
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Spd / 236 SAtk / 20 HP
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Taunt
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Thundurus has a great use on the team, spamming Thunder Wave (in this aspect has a pretty nice synergy with Gliscor, since a paralyzed mon can give me free turns to set up a substitute) and taking down stall thanks to Prankster Taunt. This guy is one of my two Pokémon that take care of flyingspam, checking Pinsir and Staraptor (Tran is useful with Talonflame). The two moves it has form a Volt-Beam combo that helps the team with its great offensive coverage. I use 20 EVs in HP to have a Leftovers number and in that way use the item more effectively.
@
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Defog
Latios provides Defog support and more offensive presence, Draco Meteor and Psyshock are its hard hitting STABs of signature, while HP fighting helps to lure and KO both Bisharp and Tyranitar that try to kill me with Pursuit. Life Orb boosts its power without locking it into any move. The EVs are max special attack and speed to use all its offensive potential.
@
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 184 SDef / 72 Def
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
This mon is the first part of the Venu-Tran core my team has. Venusaur can face a really big number of common threats of the current metagame such as Keldeo (not HP flying), Azumarill and Thundurus. It also receives just a little damage from moves like Knock off, so it can switch into things like Bisharp, seed them and stall from there or get out and be replaced for a Pokémon that fits the situation better. Leech Seed is amazingly useful to cripple almost any Pokémon that isn´t grass type, Giga Drain lets it recover health while dealing some damage, Sludge Bomb is for fairies and Synthesis regains a lot of HP to keep it healthy and useful.
@
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Protect
Heatran complements Venusaur in a really nice way, dealing with things like Talonflame, some psychic types and Charizard Y. This is my Stealth Rock setter of choice because it can switch into things like Mega Scizor, force them out and set up SR with ease. Roar is for phasing to inflict more SR passive damage, Lava Plume has a nice 30% burn rate that becomes very useful to threaten physical sweepers. Protect lets me scout for mixed or specialized sets that attempt to break heatran (and sometimes gain another turn of poison damage when gliscor has done its job).
Importable (PS!):
