INTRODUCTION
I built this team around Gyarados and I knew I wanted to have Gyarados be a bulky dragon dancer instead of a mega. This team has a balanced play style that many people can enjoy. I run specialized evs on some of my pokemon that are important for outspeeding certain threats and maintaining enough bulk to take hits. This team has a fire-water-grass core that seems 5th gen, but it still works well in 6th gen.
IN-DEPTH

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP / 248 Atk / 4 Def / 168 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Bounce
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
Bulky Gyarados is a great way of dealing with Mega Lucario. It resists both STABs, and physical variants have to face Gyarados's intimidation. The evs are pretty complex, but thanks to Smogon for making the best Gyarados set. 88 HP hits a leftovers number (1 extra HP every turn), which helps a lot with making substitutes. The speed evs are to outspeed base 130s after 1 dragon dance. I may change the speed evs to outspeed Mega Manectric (base 135), but i'd have to sacrifice some attack. I'm curious about what everyone else thinks about changing the speed evs to outspeed Mega Manectric, so let me know what you think. The new evs would be 196 Spd / 88 HP / 224 Atk.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 120 Def / 132 Spd
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
Mega Scizor is my defensive pivot. I run enough speed evs to outspeed Jolly Mega Mawile. The speed evs are also nice for outspeeding mandibuzz; a prominent taunt user that would block defog if I had no speed evs. The rest of my evs are put into HP and Def for extra survivability. Bullet Punch provides priority to this otherwise priority-less team, and momentum grabbing U-turn which my Latios appreciates. The speed evs do outspeed defensive Rotom-W, so you can safely U-turn without being wil-o-wisped. Most Mega Venusaurs are outspeed by this Mega Scizor set, which means you can safely U-turn to scout for HP fire.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 224 HP / 252 SAtk / 32 Spd
Modest Nature
- Lava Plume
- Ancient Power
- Roar
- Earth Power
Heatran is for taking on Talonflame, Charizard-Y, Volcarona, almost all fire types. He makes a great partner with Scizor because he takes care of Aegislash, and defensively Heatran takes all fire hits aimed at Scizor. The speed evs outspeed uninvested base 80s. They allow me to outspeed defensive Heatran (which is more of a threat to my team than offensive Heatran), and I can maintain enough bulk to switch in on Aegislash's shadow ball. I run Lava Plume because I hate missing fire blast, and if I get a burn it will make Gyarados have an easier time setting up. I'm running ancient power instead of stealth rock because I have defog on Scizor, but here is where you come in. I'm not sure if I should run Stealth rock anyways. Talonflames usually switch out before I can ancient power them. So please tell me, ancient power or stealth rock. Roar is a great utility move for phasing out set up sweeper.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 236 HP / 136 SDef / 136 Spd
Careful Nature
- Drain Punch
- Leech Seed
- Spore
- Substitute
Don't leave! Specially Defensive Breloom is better than you think. "He's too frail to be defensive!" Kind of true, but where breloom shines is his sheer resilience. He gains so much HP back every turn that he can be a problem to unprepared teams. He functions as a great stall breaker that can win you much momentum, or he can stay in and leech seed stall the opponent. This poke can take on Rotom-W with ease. I have enough speed evs to outspeed defensive Rotom-W, so I can either set up a sub (Rotom-W's volt switch with a crit can't even break the sub), spore it so I can set up easier with Gyarados, or just wear it down with drain punch.

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect
Sylveon is the Special Wall. It attracts the likes of scarfed Genesect, which you can easily protect to see what move it goes for. Sylveon synergizes greatly with Heatran, Latios, and Scizor. It can pass wishes off to Heatran which doesn't have reliable recovery. Heal Bell is essential for curing the team of paralysis and burns. The evs aren't offensive, but pixelate-hyper voice can do some damage.

Latios (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
Specs Latios is an absolute wall breaker. It takes on the poison types that this team has trouble with. Toxicroak completely stops a Gyarados sweep if it has substitute. Breloom can't touch Mega Venusaur, which Latios can OHKO if it's not physically defensive. Sylveon appreciates the absence of poison types in general. HP fire is for hitting Ferrothorn, and any other steel type besides Heatran. It also acts as a great revenge killer because my team is relatively slow.
CONCLUSION
I'm curious to what you guys and gals think, so any nitpicks are appreciated. Feel free to use this team, copying it doesn't bother me at all. I've gotten to the 1500's (ELO) with this team, and i'm sure it can get higher.
