The Dastardly Duo
It's been a decent while since I've posted on here. My last RMT I had created was shortly after Platinum had shifted the OU meta-game. I've been testing several new Pokemon and sets lately, and I've created a quite successful team. It is heavy offense; which is a bit different from my usual bulky approach that I have been using lately. The team focuses around two Pokemon, Latias and Kingdra; while the other team’s members help remove their threats.

Why Gliscor?
Whenever I select a lead, it seems the choices are either to use a suicide lead or a bulky lead. Suicide leads are too fragile and are usually worthless later. Most bulky leads are too slow and can’t even set-up Stealth Rock in the beginning turns of a game because of Taunt. I’ve found a median between these two types of leads, Gliscor. Gliscor provides decent enough speed and bulk to be able to do what I want as a lead: set-up Stealth and be useful later. Gliscor works as a counter to Lucario, and several other dangerous Pokemon. With Taunt, it can stop stall teams and sweepers threatening to set-up. Gliscor is the ultimate lead.

Why Kingdra?
I wanted to base this team around a powerful sweeper that I had never used before. Kingdra came to mind; its unique typing and all-round good stats were very appealing to me. Kingdra is capable of switching on a variety of choice attacks and bulky Pokemon. Once it sets up, it tears huge holes in the opposing team. It works very well with Latias, who takes care of its usual counters and picks off weakened Pokemon.

Why Latias?
Latias is very versatile. For this team, I chose to run a Scarf set because it worked very well with Kingdra and was a general counter for Empoleon, Gyarados, and Salamence. Latias can also somewhat deal with bulky threats by crippling them with Trick. Latis is very useful on this team because of how many important Pokemon it covers. It also works well with Heatran, who removes Scizor from the battle. Latias is a great revenge killer and counter for many of OU’s top threats.

Why Heatran?
I chose to run a Choice Scarf set because it can reliably take down threats such as Rotom-H and Scizor. This Heatran finds itself clearing the way for Kingdra to sweep. It is my only real counter for these Pokemon, and therefore it is very important on this team. Heatran works very well with Latias and Celebi, using their weaknesses as advantages for it to come in. Overall, Heatran is a very vital member to this team.

Why Celebi?
I chose an odd set, but it works very well. Two common switch-ins to Celebi, Scizor and Tyranitar, are KO’d by HP Fire and Leaf Storm respectively. Once they’re gone, Latias can easily start to run rampant. Celebi offers useful Paralysis support as well. Celebi is usually my only counter for bulky Waters and Lucario. Celebi really holds the team together and with the added support, Kingdra usually has no problems setting up.

The standard Scizor set that is so ubiquitous in today’s meta-game. A useful counter for Latias and Tyranitar, I use Scizor to remove these threats to allow Celebi and Latias more opportunities to switch in. Scizor is my only source of priority, and therefore is very useful in covering Salamence and other fast sweepers. Scizor is important for the survival of its fellow team members and a great counter to Tyranitar and Latias, who would other-wise cause many problems for this team.
