The Dastardly Evil Rain Team

Alright then smogonites.
I have a team, a team used mostly for fun in wi-fi. This team has been fairly successful but now I'm involved in a local tournament and want to improve. So here it is for you to tear apart, rearrange and do what you will with.
Without further ado I give you:

The Dastardly Evil Rain Team. Wmahahaha!

Le frog @ Choice Specs

186.gif

Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 Sp Atk
Nature: Modest
Psychic
Ice Beam
Focus Blast
Hydro Pump

Since I'm passing around so much status anyway with this team I thought it best to get a few coverage options instead of using a defensive toad. This way Tentacruel, Toxicroak, Tyranitar and Ferrothorn have something to worry about, in other words the pokemon who wish to abuse this frogs rain or change it.

Bert @ Life Orb

641.gif

Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Sp Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Taunt
Hurricane
Rain Dance
Focus Blast

He just looked like the kind of guy named Bert to me. Suggested by KD24, I like this suggestion, my team does not have a lot of offence and this way i have that plus a secondary counter against Terrakion. Also priority taunt and rain dance for a back up plan should my toad croak it (Oh yes, bad pun intended). Focus blast is a nice way to deal with ferrothorn too.

Horny @ Choice scarf

214.gif

Ability: Guts
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
MegaHorn
Stone Edge
Night Slash
Close Combat

Well ...the grass types. That god forsaken breloom, ferrothorn and [insert annoying grass type here] Take a horn to the face why don't you. Ah, and that floating menace Jellicent. When I see it, I switch straight into good old horny here to absorb the status and hit back with a good old fashioned night slash. It's also useful against the flying dragons.

Squishy @ Leftovers

423.gif

Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SpD
Nature: Calm
Yawn
Scald
Recover
Earth Power

I shall name him squishy and he will be my squish. He's spongey and takes a lot of hits, he causes switches to rack up that spike damage with yawn, takes the water and electric hits that may wish to come my way with the opponents who wish to abuse my rain (oh those sneaky opponents) and recovers off the damage like a pro. Pairs well with Herracross who beats off the grass types and absorbs the toxics from those pokemon of the Jellicent variety.

Nettles @ Rocky Helmet

598.gif

Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD
Nature: Impish
Bulldoze
Leech seed
Power Whip
Stealth Rock

Well here is my defensive wall and spiker. In the rain he doesn't have to worry about fire and even if there is my waters can take care of them. Great physical dragon counter, I swear they hurt themselves more than the damage they give when they attack with outrage; I have a fondness of laughing sadistically while they are forced to attack 2-3 times hurting themselves more than me while I leach seed. Good times. Bulldoze for Magnezone and pokemon that resist power whip. Replace with skarmory?

Nimbus @ Leftovers

149.gif

Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP/252 SpD/4 Spd
Nature: Careful
Roost
Aqua Tail
Dragon Tail
Thunder Wave

Wow, what a monster. Ragequits galore. Thunder Wave, Roost until opposing pokemon can't move then dragon tail and rinse and repeat. Weakens the other team considerably, spreading status alongside the other status I can spread. And Aqua Tail away the grounds who resist the T-wave in a rain environment where they are going to Get KO'd or take a huge dent at the very least.

So there you have it guys, tell me what you like, you don't like, where I can improve and I will respond and change. Thank you for reading :)

(BOLD = CHANGED AFTER SUGGESTION)

Cool team man! I like the use of some underrated 'mons.

So first things first, your team needs Stealth Rocks; they're the single most important hazard as they cripple some top threats like Dragonite and Volcarona. Thankfully you've got the perfect pokemon to place it on, Ferrothorn. The set I suggest is:

Nettles (Ferrothorn) (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP/ 88 Def/ 168 SpD
Nature: Relaxed
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip

This set will serve a similar purpose to the one you use now, except it sets up Stealth Rock instead of Spikes. I also think you'll find Thunder Wave much more useful than Bulldoze as it will allow you to cripple faster threats. The EVs are more balanced than the ones you have now, allowing it to take Special Dragon attacks, such as those from Latios. It will still be able to handle many physical dragon attacks. If your team misses the Spike support to much than Spikes can be run over Leech Seed; though in that case Leftovers is recommended over Rocky Helmet to provide passive healing.

Now my second change is one that I simply believe will make your team stronger, I suggest running Gyarados over Drifblim. While I believe Drifblim is very cool and unique, the unfortunate thing is it's kind of a one trick pony. Unburden does not last after you switch out and you only have a strong Acrobatics once. Gyarados will serve as a similar check to Fighting-types and loves the Drizzle condition your team brings. The set I suggest is:

Gyarados (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Stone Edge / Bounce

Using Intimidate and its Flying-type allow Gyarados to properly stop many Fighting-type pokemon(bar Terrakion but Heracross is a great check to him). It can even then take that opportunity to set up a Dragon Dance and even sweep an opposing team. The Evs are the standard Bulky Dragon Dance set; I believe these are best for your team as it gives Gyarados the bulk to stand in the way of those Fighting-types 'mons. Also this Gyarados cannot be phazed, utilizing Taunt to stop those pesky Whirlwinds and Roars.

I also recommend replacing Earth Power for Ice Beam on Gastrodon. Ice Beam can be very clutch as Dragonites often believe they can set up on Gastrodon only to be met with a cold fate.

I hope you give these suggestions a try, Good Luck!

i like some of the suggestions above but one thing i notice is that ferrothorn remains a threat and your only option of hitting it is choiced - to add onto that, your politoed is trying to do 2 things at once and ends up doing nothing well. id start off by changing politoed to choice specs with surf/focus blast/ice beam/psychic with basically max hp and max special attack (the speed is your choice but you'll want the bulk) - this gives you basically what you wanted before in killing toxicroak/tentacruel/etc but allows you to handle ferrothorn switch-ins with some pretty basic prediction and gives you all around more power.

while i like the gyarados suggestion, with how defensively natured this team is, i think a set of taunt/dragon tail/waterfall/thunder wave, or even rest stalk with dragon tail to absorb status fits somewhat better, spreading around the hazards and keeping the nature of the team defensive. it also allows you to keep phazing out ferrothorn (who you cant afford free turns when you can avoid it)

personally, i dont really like hera on this team but at the very least, it prevents a clear 6-0 from terrakion...if you want another fighting resist that also beats grass-types (and can outspeed terrakion), you could try specs / life orb tornadus with hurricane/focus blast/rain dance/u-turn .. it gives the extra rain dance that you lost from drifblim (altho now its priority to mess up sun teams) and it handles a lot of the same...however, hera right now plugs up some very bleh wholes and like i said, it helps deal with ferrothorn a bit better. another option is replacing heracross with toxicroak, who also benefits from rain and beats those things, but also gives you some much needed priority...only issue is jellicent becomes that much harder to beat. keep all of this in mind if you want to think about making this decision.

good luck!

Ok guys I have taken in what you have suggested and edited as such. Any better?

I loved the stealth rock suggestion Joey but the t-wave idea over bulldoze just didn't make sense to me, as status is fairly easy to spread with dragonite anyway and I'm just paranoid about Magnezone.

As much as it pains me to see Drifblim go, I thought that tornadus was a great suggestion: giving me a fighting resist and a way to effectively and literally blow them away. Additionally he's a priority taunt user. (Over U-turn, I thought taunt was more useful this way)

As for ice beam on gastrodon? Yawn phases dragonite out or puts him to sleep (either way I'm happy) and earth power is useful for the STAB and hits metagross harder who I have found to be a problem as in the rain it's only weakness is ground.

Thank you for the comments and wishes of good luck guys :)
