[SET]
Darkrai @ Leftovers / Heavy-Duty Boots
Name: Bulkyrai (Bulky Darkrai)
Ability: Bad Dreams
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Focus Blast / Thunder / Ice Beam
[SET COMMENTS]
Opting for a bulkier spread overall enables Darkrai to stick around far longer, letting Darkrai cripple physical attackers attempting to handle it and its teammates while still remaining a capable threat with Nasty Plot and Dark Pulse. Will-O-Wisp takes would-be problematic threats for Dark such as opposing Meowscarada and Corviknight and cripples their ability to apply pressure. For its last option, Darkrai has plenty of tools: after a Nasty Plot, Focus Blast rips through the likes of Hisuian Goodra and Ting-Lu; Thunder easily fells Corviknight and Toxapex; and Ice Beam can apply strong pressure against the Landorus formes and Clodsire. The EV spread used enables Darkrai to tank a Body Press from Skarmory and Archaludon along with a Play Rough from Choice Scarf Meowscarada and respond with a Will-O-Wisp, and it lets Darkrai still outspeed non-Choice Scarf Meowscarada and Torandus-T. Leftovers can provide Darkrai with some stability while setting up, while Heavy-Duty Boots grants Darkrai safe entry, as Dark lacks good entry hazard removal.
With its decrease in immediate damage, Darkrai greatly appreciates entry hazard support from the likes of Ting-Lu and Hisuian Samurott to pressure foes it cannot break past as reliably such as Hoopa-U and Unaware Clodsire. Ting-Lu also is a strong special wall capable of handling foes like Raging Bolt and Terapagos. Swords Dance Hisuian Samurott can pick off special walls such as Blissey and Articuno along with being able to use Sucker Punch to deal with Flutter Mane after a boost. Mandibuzz can come in on Choice Scarf Fighting-types such as Sneasler and Urshifu-R alongside using U-turn to safely bring in Darkrai and providing Defog support if it opts to run Leftovers. Choice Scarf Meowscarada provides essential speed control, taking out threats such as opposing Darkrai and Iron Valiant with Play Rough, while checking Primarina and Ting-Lu with Flower Trick. Choice Specs Greninja can eliminate Fire-types looking to absorb Will-O-Wisp such as Volcarona and Moltres while also being able to use Extrasensory to threaten Fighting-types like Iron Valiant and Iron Hands. Alolan Muk can handle problematic Fairy-types like Flutter Mane and Hatterene along with removing Choice Scarf with Knock Off from threats like Meowscarada and Latios. Mixed and physical Hoopa-U variants can provide solid Knock Off support along with being able to handle Fighting-types such as Gallade and Okidogi.
