The Drizzle Dancers (Rain Hyper Offense) PEAKED 1900~

Its been a while since ive posted a thread, so i thought id share this team i made that i have been having great success with, and explain it in detail, as a REAL RMT should do. So without delay, here is the building process:

186.gif

Here Poli, the staple of well, any team in the meta thats rain based. So many possibilities to add when poli is on your side.

186.gif

Croak is the best sweeper under rain. Period. 1/4 recovery with water immunity, and 1/8 recovery under rain. 342 attack base is solid, and can reach new heights when boosted. 249 speed isnt half bad, either.

186.gif
454.gif

Gyarados is a beast under rain as well, a 160 base attack water fall (50% boost with rain, as well as a 50% boost with stab.) Also a good DD user, and dont you dare forget Moxie, an ability people sleep on alot.

With Croaks ground weakness covered, I covered gyarados with garchomp. Thats not all why he's here, after a S-Dance, he reaches 718 attack. Seven hundred and eight f***ing teen.

I need a ice wall, and scizor fits well, with of course its ability to sweep unprepared teams on whim, 788 attack after a S-Dance, with STAB technician bullet punch, scizor can handle even the fastest of sweepers, even those who resist it.

Utility is the best ability, and espeon can do that GREATLY. and is a powerhouse at the same time. A bit of a glass cannon, but with 358 sp.atk, espeon is no joke. And he counters ferro like none other, bouncing back everything he can throw at you.

Now for the team OOOOOOOOOO:

Scarftoed

Politoed @ Choice Scarf
Drizzle
Timid
4 HP 252 SP.ATK 252 SPE

Hydro pump
Ice Beam
Psychic
Encore

This is a relatively common set, but its effective none the less. STAB Hydro Pump under guaranteed rain hits REAL hard, and anyone who wants to switch into a dragon/thundurus will get a nasty overpredicted ice beam. Psychic hits keldeo, who is under suspect as of now, which shows how useful the move can be. Ive always preferred encore of perish song, cause its much easier to play into my hands. Heres some dancy fancy numbers:

252 SpA Politoed Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 324-384 (100.3 - 118.88%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Politoed Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 252 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 160-190 (49.53 - 58.82%) -- 98.83% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Politoed Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Thundurus-T: 194-230 (104.88 - 106.92%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Politoed Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Latios: 148-176 (49.16 - 58.47%) -- 97.66% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Politoed Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 148+ SpD Tyranitar: 360-426 (89.1 - 105.44%) -- 31.25% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Politoed Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Ninetales: 458-540 (130.85 - 154.28%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Yup.

Swords Dance Croak

Toxicroak @Life Orb
Dry Skin
Adamant
4 HP 252 ATK 252 SPE

Swords Dance
Drain Punch
Sucker Punch
Ice Punch

The frailest bulkiest Life Orb sweeper. Getting 3% Health recovery a turn (after recoil), Life orb stalling is not existent here. Along with Drain Punch, youll rake in the HP. And the other two moves are really the only viable moves in the s***hole of a moveset croak unfortunetly has :\ But we all have problems, toxicroak as well has its own. If your opponent has sun up, and polis out of the picure, croak becomes instant fodder. As well as gleaming weaknesses two psychic and ground, this bulky frail sweeper, is well, frail.

MoxieDos

Gyarados@Leftovers
Moxie
Jolly
4 HP 252 ATK 252 SPE

Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Bounce
Ice Fang

Oh boy. Why Moxie Gyara has decreased in usage, i will never know why. After dragon dance, it hits 430 speed and 523 attack, and if it gets a KO out, it hits 784. Then 1176. And so on. With a 120 base attack under rain (STAB included), waterfall hits ANYTHING hard after one KO. Bounce is there for grass coverage, mostly for breloom, which gets instantly KO'ed (if it dosent effing miss!) and that starts a moxie sweep. Ice fang is there for any silly dragons that switch in. It may be base 65 attack, but at 1176 attack, its obsolete. I honestly cant include numbers here, since it varies almost infinity (seriously)

SwordChomp

Garchomp@Lum Berry
Rough Skin
Jolly
4 HP 252 ATK 252 SPE

Swords Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
Aqua Tail

Well this is typical for almost 7 years now (wow im getting old thinking about that... :\) so ill just talk about aqua tail here, as its a monster under rain, hitting with 135 base power under rain, its a sleeper move that can disrupt a naive donphan, hippowdown, or even a air balloon heatran switch in. The rest is well standard. Ill just include numbers for aqua tail >.>

+2 252 Atk Garchomp Aqua Tail vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Hippowdon: 510-600 (121.42 - 142.85%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Garchomp Aqua Tail vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Donphan: 374-440 (97.39 - 114.58%) -- 81.25% chance to OHKO (without sturdy, of course)
Heatran Aqua Tail: 145.45 - 171.42%

SwordZor

Scizor@Lum Berry
Technician
Adamant
152 HP 252 ATK 104 SPE

Swords Dance
Bullet Punch
Bug Bite
Pursuit

Another typical set, we've know for a while as well. Has a unique EV spread (well its been spread with some friends of mine and some of the community) just enough health to be bulky, enough speed to outspeed some base 70 pokes. Some people prefer superpower over pursuit, however i find superpower a useless move in this hyper offense meta were switching is almost never optimal, and being crippled with a attack drop of .67 is just blasphemous. So i prefer pursuit on the switch in. Again, no numbers needed, we all know and love/hate this set.

SweepEon

Espeon@Life Orb
Magic Bounce
Timid
4 HP 252 SPA 252 SPE

Psychic
Hidden Power Fire
Signal Beam
Baton Pass

Basically our counter to ferrothorn, HP fire can KO most ferros in one hit, and 2HKO at full health. Thats counting rain up, so you get the jest of it. Psychic hits hard, and is usually looked over for psyshock, but we have enough physical attackers on this team, so we wont go with the ladder. Signal beam hits any dark types such as hydro and other psychic types. And baton pass is to counter pursuit, and for scouting out t-tar and scizor. Oh and dont forget magic bounce! for ferro, and other utility pokemons.

252 SpA Espeon Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 336-396 (95.45 - 112.5%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Espeon Signal Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Hydreigon: 322-380 (98.77 - 116.56%) -- 93.75% chance to OHKO

Would it be possible for you to include an importable? It just makes it far easier to test teams and help work out the kinks. I'll test the team nonetheless, just a heads up :P

Alright, So far I've played around 15 matches with this team on a fresh account, and I've managed to achieve a rating of mid to high 1600s to low 1700s (Normally up at around mid 1700s - don't hate).

One big problem I see with this team is the fact that the 4 main sweepers on this team all either need boosting moves, or crumble by getting checked when they spend a turn boosting.

(Gyarados) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Outrage

To this problem, I suggest using a scarf set on Gyarados, to set up Moxie sweeps with ease. (287 speed with Jolly nature and 252 speed EVs turns into 430.5 with a scarf.) As you may notice, I have swapped out bounce for Outrage. The reason for this is that Ice Fang is still Super Effective against Grass type pokemon doing significant damage - Outrage on the other hand is a move that can be used to sweep VERY successfully if you take out any opposing Steel pokemon that may be able to wall him until the confusion sets in.

(Scizor) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Quick Attack
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Superpower

One other set I would recommend (and that I know for a fact works as a HUGE success) is a Choice Band Scizor set which OHKOs Gengar and 2HKOs Garchomp. This set hits upwards of 500 attack base without including the extra damage from technician. Quick attack is there to hit pokemon that resist steel, for a fact it hits Scarftini for around half hp, with lucky rolls it would be a 2HKO if you manage to get it on the switch, Bug bite is for psychics and is capable of 2HKOing walls like Cresselia, Super power is there to OHKO problem children like eviolite Chansey and Blissey.

I've had a fun experience rating this team and I hope it helped, thanks.

Some of your calcs are wrong and you obviously forget sandstorm, anyway
here are some soft core changes that i suggest

Put hp fight on you espeon so you can hit tyranitar for a decent damage after all enemy ferros will always be under rain where hp fight and hp fire do the same damage

Put superpower instead of pursuit on your sciz, it 1hkos ferro skarmory and some other things after SD and sr.

Use a lead stealth rock chompy instead of this current set sr rocks is the best move in the metagame right now.

Thanks for the feedback khrolek! I know the problem your evaluating, and its valid, but the whole point i made of the team originally was to have a team of "Dancers" and it was, suprisingly, effective, so i stuck by it and peaked at around 1900, which isnt bad for me as i just got back into the meta. In a more serious team (one i would enter tourneys in) i would of course run those sets you said. But still, glad to know you had fun testing it!

And to grey knight, i find managing tyranitar willingly easy with a switch into garchomp, and hippowdown can be handled with a smart predict with poli and an ice beam. But i did put HP fight on my espy and im considering rocks on garchomp, as i usually really on magic bounce to get them up.. but it well "backfires" sometimes, to say the least. And for the calculations, i went back to the good ol smogon damage calc, and some of them were in fact off 0.o ill be sure to post up the new ones
