ORAS OU The Droogs

I took some inspiration from other layouts i've seen people have. These are all pretty mainstream Pokemon (which kinda bothers me since I hate people using the same Pokemon in every team), but let's face it, there's usually a reason these Pokemon get used so often. I have another team with lesser used Pokemon i'll post later.

salamence.gif

Maleficent (Salamence) (F) @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 Atk / 4 SpA / 12 SpD / 244 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Return
- Earthquake
- Outrage

This is my main. Mega Salamence is a complete beast. If it can get an attack boost, it's usually GG. That's why it has the dragon dance. The Return is fairly obvious, with Aerilate it packs a huge punch and should take out any non super bulky pokemon. The earthquake is to take out any pesky steel or rock types with high defense. Outrage is mainly for Dragonites and Rotom-W. I consider switching it out for dragon claw but outrage packs such a bigger punch.

breloom.gif

Little Mac (Breloom) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 24 Def / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb

I don't use spore as much as I should, but without hazards spore and the focus sash are a good combo so I can either switch out or do some damage while they're asleep and I survive their first blow. All it's attacks are chosen so that they all benefit from technician. Rock tomb should take care of any flying types that try to take it on.

skarmory.gif

OldLadyGibson (Skarmory) (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock

Skarmory is mainly used to just weaken the opposing team. Stealth rocks take care of any focus sash's, and using whirlwind with it can just do some damage so later on when i'm using an actual battle pokemon I have a decent advantage going in. I made it very deffensive with the rocky helmet to whittle down on physical pokemon and keep it alive during that with roost. I gave it iron head instead of defog because I didn't like the thought of having two pokemon on my team that would be made useless with a taunt.

azumarill.gif

Javert (Azumarill) (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
- Waterfall

Javert is a good bulky attacker for my team. I was considering going for the belly drum/sitrus berry combo, but I figured with huge power it's already a powerhouse, so I might as well make it able to take a hit with the assault vest. Pretty standard Azumarill moveset, but knock off instead of superpower since I already have Little Mac for fighting and I don't like superpower's att/def drawbacks as opposed to knock off's added item removal bonus.

gliscor.gif

Capone (Gliscor) (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
Impish Nature
- Baton Pass
- Swords Dance
- Toxic
- Rock Polish

I used to have Capone running taunt, toxic, earthquake, and roost. But I found a lot of the time, the toxic stall just didn't work for me. I figured that since Gliscor is fairly bulky, I could use it to set up my Salamence or Azumarill. A swords dance for Salamence or a rock polish for Azumarill. Or both if I have the time. I was also considering substitute instead of toxic, but toxic DOES still come in handy sometimes.

greninja.gif

Zabuza (Greninja) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Spikes
- Dark Pulse

I noticed my team is basically all physical. This was my answer to that. I needed a special attacker on my roster, and who better than Greninja. I had a choice specs Typhlosion for a while, since my team has a decent weakness against ice, but I kinda hate choicer items, and often the Typhlosion wouldn't contribute that much. Greninja's moveset is pretty basic other than spikes, which is just used mainly to combat any electric moves that people always use despite it's protean, and it gives me a free minor hazard so why not.

I would really like a defog/rapid spin on my team, but that isn't really going to work. This is my first real attempt at a serious competitive team. All suggestions and thoughts are welcome.

Hiya! This team is pretty cool, and I have a few suggestions:
  • I'm not really sure about your EV Spread on Salamence. You have EVs invested in Special Attack, although your set is physical. I would suggest a 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe spread. This allows Salamence to act as a fast and powerful sweeper and allows it to outspeed most threats and hit them hard.
  • I would suggest running Defog and Brave Bird over Iron Head and Stealth Rock. Although it may seem strange that I am removing Stealth Rock, it'll make sense with my next suggestion. Since Salamence is weak to Rocks, you want to be able to clear those away with Defog. Skarmory is a great bulky defogger, and Brave Bird is used over Iron Head simply because of its better coverage and more power in general.
  • I would try a Gliscor set like this:
    Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
    Ability: Poison Heal
    EVs: 244 HP / 192 SpD / 72 Spe
    Impish Nature
    - Stealth Rock
    - Roost
    - Toxic
    - Earthquake
Although your old set was OK, this set helps cover for the loss of Stealth Rock on Skarmory. Gliscor is a great user of Stealth Rock, mainly because of its bulk and typing. The EVs are for a specially-defensive set, since your team needs a Pokemon capable of absorbing special attacks. As a note, the HP is at 244 because if the stat is divisible by 8, it will maximize the amount of restoration from Poison Heal. Roost is a self-explanatory move that allows Gliscor to stay in longer, and Toxic is a great way to stall with Earthquake serving as a filler move to prevent Gliscor from becoming Taunt bait. Although you noted that the toxic stall set didn't work for you, Gliscor works best in this manner and I would just try it out again before abandoning it.
  • I would move the 4 HP EVs on Greninja into Defense because having the EVs in HP will increase damage from hazards.
  • As a quick note, make sure all of your specially-based Pokemon have 0 IVs in Attack. This reduces damage from confusion and moves like Foul Play by a considerable amount.
That's about it from me, and keep in mind that these are simply suggestions and you don't have to use them all. I hope I helped!
Good luck on your team! =)
