The Dynamic Duo!!! Charizard Y and Tyranitar Make A Stand!

the poke sweeper

Pokémon Master
So I was looking around in the RMT forums looking for ideas when I see someone posted about ZardY. I believe it was titled "Cloudy with a 100% chance of Berries" I could be wrong. As I skimmed through the thread I saw 2 things that caught my eye, All out attacking ZardY is aggressive as hell, and his team is weak to talonflame. I saw a few of the comments to see what others had to say and I saw suggestion for Tyranitar, then it hit me. Dual Weather! The team isn't centered around that idea but I thought it was a neat idea.

Team Building Process

The team originated with these two in mind as they support each other very well. Even though
Charizard can handle Rotom-W on his own very well I needed a safe switch in. So I chose Trevenant since it can take rotom's hit very nicely and irritate my opponent.

Having the entire team planned out in mind I noticed Talonflame could be problematic. I decided to add Tyranitar simply because it can eat up Talonflame's hits and gives me coverage with his dark and rock type STAB.

Next up on the recruit list was Empoleon and Landorus-T. I needed to strengthen my defencive core so I added Empoleon as a defoger and as the final piece of my FWG Core. Landorus was thrown in there because I didn't want Physical Mega Lucario and Garchomp wrecking my team.

I was in dire need of something that could give me momentum. Since Genesect was out of the question I added Rotom-W as it is an excellent scarfer and could cripple Chansey with trick. With Rotom on board I now had a Volt-Turn core with Landorus and an additional water in my FWG core.

A Closer Look

Igneel (Charizard) @ Charizardite Y
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SAtk/ 252 spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast/ Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Dragon Pulse
Don't mind the nickname I watch alot of Fairy Tail. As great as Charizard X is especially his design , I prefer Y simply because It hits hard right off the bat,( guess I should have thought that through when I bought X.) Pretty standard Zard Y set. Fire Blast is for maximum damage in the sun, but you can switch that if you dislike the accuracy. Solar Beam is pretty self explanatory, it 2 HKO's Jellicent, murders Gastrodon, and OHKO's Rotom-Wash. Focus Blast is like a double-edged sword. I can OHKO Heatran and Tyranitar on the switch, but it has terrible accuracy. I pray to Arceus for it to hit and if I miss I still has one more turn to try. I choose Dragon Pulse over roost because Zard isn't really switching in alot and when he does I make sure rocks are gone. Zard Y is my scare tactic and there are times I see the Garchomp switch and want to damage it as much as possible before I switch to Landorus also if I run into something I can't hit finish off with Solar Beam I usually use Dragon Pulse because I don't want to miss with my other moves.

Big Nigga(Tyranitar) WeaKness Policy
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Sp.D/ 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Polish
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Earthquake
WEAKNESS POLICY!? THAT'S SO OUT OF PLACE IN THIS TEAM! Yes and no. At first I was thinking Assault Vest, but then I realized I'm already pretty covered in that department. That and I was in need of a Physical Sweeper. I can't tell you how many times this set has saved my ass, if this were any other team I'd run assault vest, but it's not so bite me :P T-tar has amazing synergy with Charizard and counters Talonflame. I run Rock Polish over DD because I need speed asap. Rock Slide it for Talonflame and Togekiss,( God I hate that thing!) Crunch is a must and Earthquake is to take out Heatran, opposing Tyranitar, Mega Manetric, and other electric types that could spell trouble for my team.

Nuisence (Trevenant) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 Hp/ 180 Def/ 76 Spe
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Phantom Force
- Will-O-Wisp
Impish Nature
Trevenant, why are you such a PRICK? As it's name would suggest, she is a nuisence. This Wizard of Oz reject WILL NOT DIE!!! And that is why I love her <3 Outside of the sun I really am pushing my luck when it comes to Harvest but damn this thing can make comebacks. From crippling to stalling, there is no task too big for Trevenant. Substitute is used on switches or just to be a dick and get borderline sitrus berry recovery, Leech Seed is to increase my longitivity( is that even a word? Eh, doesn't matter) Phantom Force is to stall out for burn and leech seed damage and to give me an extra turn to Harvest another Sitrus Berry, and Will-O-Wisp is to burn stuff.....No shit. As far as EVs go, im able to out speed some rotom but that thing is so versatile so guessing it's speed stat is pointless.

Charlie Sheen(Landorus-T) @ Leftovers
EVs: 200 Hp/ 32 Atk/ 212 Def/ 64 Spe
Lax Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- U-Turn
- HP Ice
If you've ever faced someone with a Landorus-T named Charlie Sheen and a Rotom-W named Kenmore, then that was me. I've got a thing for wierd nicknames and have OCD when it comes to nicknaming everything on my team. Awe Landorus, what would I do without you? I found this set somewhere in the BW2 RMT about a year ago so I myself can't explain the EV spread. I can however, tell you it has worked out so well that it is my default Landorus-T set. Before I added Landorus I had a weakness to Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar as well as few others. Landorus is here put a stop to them as well as get my rocks. I know running SR on two pokemon is pretty retarded and a waste of a move slot but I just have a lot of chances to set them up with Empoleon and Lando, especially since I run defog. Earthquake is to hit those weak to it or just hit for neutral, Stealth Rock needs no explanation, U-turn is for gaining momentum, and as much as I wish I ran stone edge I can't deny that hurting opposing Landorus, Garchomp, Gliscor, and Dragonite for 4x super effective takes priority on this team regardless of it's nerf.

Señor Waddles (Empoleon) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 Hp/ 4 Sp.Atk/ 252 Sp.D
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Defog
Having the most awesome, creative, fitting, and original nickname I've ever come up with isn't all this Chill Penguin has( Megaman X reference.) With maxed out Sp.def Empoleon can take a focus blast to the face from Alakazam and retaliate with knock off. I need a counter to the Lati-twins and since Empoleon could learn defog and knock off I immediately slapped him onto the team. This set doesn't need much explanation but I'll run through it as fast as possible. Scald is here for STAB and to burn shit, SR is there because I want them out and about asap, knock off is there to cripple other mons, and defog is so I can keep sending out Charizard to scare people shit less.

Kenmore(Rotom-W) @ Choice Scarf
4 Hp/ 252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- HP Ice
- Trick
Do you know whats an awesome Pokemon? Rotom. Do you know something not awesome? Washing machines. Jokes aside, I really needed a Pokemon that was fast and could contribute to the team by either volt switching or U-turning. Rotom just seemed fitting for the job and he is. Rotom is here to gain momentum and cripple Chansey's with trick. Hydro Pump is kinda there because I can't remove it, really wish Rotom learned scald. Volt Switch is for momentum( how many times have I said that?) and to get some volt-turn action with Lando. I know I have HP ice on Rotom and Lando but it's more obvious on rotom and there are situations when I use it with Rotom. Trick for crippling Trevenents, Chanseys, and what ever other Poke that won't let me have my way.(unintentional sexual innuendo)

Threats
lucario-mega.png
Special Attacking Mega Lucario: This guy can destroy my team unless he doesn't carry Dark Pulse, afterwards I have to sack one of my pokes just so Trevenant can burn and stall him.

184.png

Belly Drum Azumarill: Why are people still running this! Im pretty much forced to sack something so I can revenge kill with Rotom later.

l1r6.png
Mega Gyarados: Mega Gyarados is cool, I just hate it when it's used against me. My only hope after it sets up is to burn with Trevenant and thats pretty risky seeing how Gyarados has Ice Fang and Will-O-Wisp can miss.

So that's the team, thank you for rating this took 4 hours to complete and any and all criticism is welcome. Just not my nicknames, NEVER question my nicknames.

Replays
Before watching the replays let me say that I use 3 accounts on showdown. I've been testing this team for about 3 weeks so after getting a high rating which is no longer there, I played on my other accounts so I could continue using it because of how fun it is.

Do not rely on other 44 Speed Defense Rotom-W to check it for you by providing you with herd immunity. :)

Get immunized and run the standard defensive Rotom-W with 44 Speed EVs :). Well, I could say that Rotom-W performs worse against other Rotom-W, slower defensive versions who have a faster Volt Switch and faster ones with Trick. But you could play with a tricked defensive Rotom-W better than I can since you are comfortable with using one with Choice Scarf.

Good team. The sweeper Tyranitar utilizes both its strengths and weaknesses. I want to see how you do against Talonflame and the general usefulness against of that Lando.

The double stealth rocks seem unorthodox, but it is a great means to relieve pressure on a designated stealth rock setter. I also want to see it in practice.

I guess double Stealth Rocks you reduce the need for running Stone Edge on Lando and you can hits that you disable a Rotom-W/Lando-T core such as Gliscor. Without investment, Gliscor is KOed by Hydro Pump if Stealth Rocks is up which 32 SAtk Rotom-W was able to do in neutral weather last gen.
