The Elite Squad

theelitesquad.png
Hello everybody, this is fatsnorlax. Now, a few days ago, I came up with an idea in bed, and idea to use a Gliscor/Bronzong core to wall everything. I did end up dumping Gliscor, but Bronzong is still here(: I've also got a bit of an antiweather core. This team has been doing really well for it's self, winning most battles, and peaking at 1234. That being said, I hope you enjoy, and it's time to meet the Elite Squad.

----A Closer Look---

heatran.png

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Modest
EVs: 4hp/252Satk/252spd
-Earth Power
-Fire Blast
-Roar
-Hidden Power [Ice]
Heatran is here because I was having Volcarona issues, but is really helpful. Heatran has a variety of uses. He is a great Special Sweeper thanks to having a montrous 130 base Special Attack and diverse movepool. As far as the movest, Fire Blast is my STAB, and can kill quite a bit (especially after he onomnoms a fire attack). Earth Power gives coverage, and Hidden Power hits D-Nite and Mence. Roar PHazes Volcarona, who usually can't do anything against me. He is also a great secondary counter to Excadrill, fearing only the rare brick break. So yeah, hail Heatran.
Synergy:
Ground: Bronzong, Latias
Water: Latias, Haxorus
Fighting: Latias

bronzong.png

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Sassy
EVs: 252hp/84atk/80def/92Sdef
-Gyro Ball
-Hidden Power [Ice]
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rock
Bronzong is back! Did you miss it? He's here to set up rocks, wall Landorus, and wall a lot of other stuff. Gyro Ball is a STAB, and thanks to my Sassy nature and 2 speed IVs, is pretty strong. Earthquake kills stuff like Magnezone, who usually bites off more than it can chew coming in on Bronzong. Hidden Power kills stuff like Landorus and Gliscor that get walled.
Synergy:
Fire: Heatran(onomnom), Latias, Haxorus

mamoswine.png

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4hp/252atk/252spd
-Ice Shard
-Earthquake
-Icicle Crash
-Stone Edge
Mamo is just a wonderful revenge killer, destroying Haxorus, Virizions that switch in, Landorus, and more. Of course, he can be a sweet wallbreaker too. His stab combination lets him pierce a ton of walls, and stone edge kills a bit too. As far as moves, Ice Shard is a beautiful priority, killing a lot of top threats. Earthquake destroys steel types, and a lot of other crap. Icicle Crash maims stuff, and Stone Edge is for coverage. I LOVE MAMO!
Synergy:
Fighting: Latias
Fire: Heatran(onomnom), Latias, Haxorus
Steel: Scizor, Heatran, Bronzong
Water: Haxorus, Latias

scizor.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technichian
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252hp/16atk/240Sdef
-Bullet Punch
-U-Turn
-Superpower
-Pursuit
Scizor is taking T-Tars place (wah, wah, wah). With the given EVs, it can switch into LO Latios's Draco Meteor, and kill it with Pursuit. Bullet Punch is a strong priority, and revenge kills Terrakion. U-Turn is an effective scouting method that still does a crapton of damage, and Superpower kills unsespecting T-Tar, Heatran, and Magnezone switch ins.
Synergy:
Fire: Heatran(onomnom), Latias, Haxorus

haxorus.png

Haxorus @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4hp/252atk/252spd
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Brick Break
-Dual Chop
Haxorus is a revenge killer and sweeper in one BANG! He is the only thing on this team that kills Infernape, and still has a ton of power behind Outrage. Outrage is there as a STAB, and it muders a lot. Earthquake and Brick Break are for coverage. Dual Chop is an alternative STAB to break subs and sashes. I love this guy.
Synergy:
Ice: Bronzong, Heatran, Scizor
Dragon: Bronzong, Heatran, Scizor
latios.png

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
Evs: 4hp/252Satk/252spd
-Draco Meteor
-Recover
-Surf
-Psyshock
The main reason Latios is here is because I was having Conckeldurr issues, but he can handle a lot more than Conck. Let me start by saying that Latios is one of the prime threats in OU, and for a good reason. Base 130 Satk and 110 spd give it terrific offenses, and with its almighty STAB Drac Meteor, it can easily cleave its way through a ton of Pokemon. Between Recover and immunity to Spikes/Toxic Spikes, the frequent switches from Draco Meteor are a non-issue. He has two other moves as well. Surf lets me abuse enemy rain and hit stuff like Jirachi and Heatran that would normally wall me (Jirachi still walls me unless there's rain):), and Psyshock 2HKOs Blissey with Stealth Rock support, giving me some leway against Skarmbliss. Not much else to say really...
Synergy:
Dragon: Bronzong, Heatran, Scizor
Ice: Bronzong, Heatran, Scizor
Dark: Heatran, Scizor
Bug: Heatran, Scizor
Ghost: Heatran, Scizor

All changes are in RED

salamence.png

Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Naive
EVs: 116atk/216Satk/176spd
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Break Break
-Roost
Was dumped for Heatran because I was having Volacrona issues.

gliscor.png

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252hp/184def/72spd
-Protect
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang
Was replaced with Bronzong (the relationship between the two is strange).

tyranitar.png

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
Nature: Sassy
EVs: 208hp/72atk/108Satk/116Sdef
-Fire Blast
-Stealth Rock
-Crunch
-Pursuit
Was replaced with Scizor...

snorlax.png

Snorlax @ Leftovers(Choice Band)
Ability: Thick Fat
Nature: Careful(Adamant)
EVs: 188hp/104def/216Sdef(40hp/252atk/40def/176Sdef)
-Curse(Return)
-Return(Fire Punch)
-Earthquake(Pursuit)
-Rest(Earthquake)
I'd used both sets, but he was replaced with Latias.

latias.png

Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4hp/252def/252spd
-Calm Mind
-Dragon Pulse
-Recover
-Roar
Did really well, but was subbed out for Latios because of Conckeldurr issues.

Hiya

Mence wants 180 Spe EVs, as 178 isn't divisible by 4.

Instead of Ice Beam, give Ttar Stealth Rock. This will help you get KOs and ultimately pull ahead in the switching mindgames.

(will put some more thought into this when I return)

That investment would go over the 510 EV limit and the extra two EVs making it 178 don't actually matter so there's no reason to change anything.

Your team has massive problems with Landorus, most notably the Substitute / Smack Down / Earthquake / Hidden Power [Ice], as it outspeeds every member on your team. Giving it enough time to set up (locking yourself into Earthquake with your choiced Pokemon) and you're a goner. Snorlax may look like an efficient counter, but if it has a Substitute up, don't even count on it. Rain teams can also destroy your team since you have no "reliable" switch ins to most rain attackers.

My suggestion is to run a Virizion over Snorlax. It fixes your Landorus problem to an extent, as well as your rain problem. The Calm Mind set should suffice. Here it is:

Virizion @ Leftovers l Timid Nature l Justified l 4 Def / 252 SpAtk / 252 Speed
Moves: Calm Mind l Giga Drain l Focus Blast l Hidden Power [Ice]

But don't think we're done just yet, your team is still weak to Reuniclus, and to fix this problem, Scizor over Haxorus should suffice, as Haxorus doesn't both of the two common DDers in OU; it checks Dragonite, but doesn't check Salamence, and from past experience, having a secondary check for both Pokemon is VERY helpful in the longrun. Here's the set:

Scizor @ Leftovers l Adamant Nature l Technician l 248 HP / 44 Atk / 216 SpDef
Moves: Swords Dance l Bullet Punch l Roost l Bug Bite

All in all, nice team, good luck!

@V0x-Thnx, I'll try Stealth Rock
@Bowl Cut, I don't see much of a rain problem tbh. Tyranitar changes the weather, Haxorus and Mamo revenge all kinds of stuff.

Thnx for the rates people... keep em coming(:

What I think V0x meant is that your Salamence should have 176 Speed EVs. Nice team by the way. Nothing too big can break your team, but Landorus seems like a problem. I'd second Bowl Cut's recommendation of Virizion over Snorlax. Haxorus is cool, so keep it. However, you should consider Choice Band for more power. Good luck with this team, and I'll edit this with moveset recommendations fairly soon.

@Wario, thanks for the rate. I still don't see the rain problem. Haxy has a choice scarf because I realized an Infernape issue. Again, thanks for the rate and compliment.

nice team bro, but i agree with bowl cut completely. Virizion over lax would help you with so big weaknesses (like your landorus weakness)

name: Offensive Calm Mind
move1: Calm Mind
move2: Giga Drain
move3: Focus Blast
move4: Hidden Power Ice / Taunt
item: Leftovers / Life Orb
nature: Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
ivs: 30 Atk / 30 Def

it can also help since it would be the only thing on your team that can safely come in on a water move/rotom-w.

^ agree with that too

good luck.

Oops. I usually run 180 Spe for speed creepy reasons.

Anyway, I think Fighting-types, namely Lucario and Terrakion, have a nice time with your team. SD Lucario defeats Gliscor, Ttar, Mamoswine, and Snorlax, while Terrakion can take on Mence, Tar, Mamo (to a lesser extent because of Ice Shard), and Snorlax. I recommend a Chople Berry on Ttar to get the upper hand on these threats. The loss of leftovers is less important; you can sacrifice HP recovery because you are not dependent on winning weather wars.

Good Luck

Hey, cool team I only have a couple of suggestions.

First off to solve you Landorus problem I recommend using Bronzong over Gliscor. Zong walls all the stuff Gliscor does, but with the addition of a dragon resist which you team can really use since Mamo isn't a safe switch in to any dragon.

You seem to be a Snorlax fan so I won't suggest any replacment for it. Instead I recommend using Choice Band Snorlax with a movset of Crunch, Pursuit, Return and Earthquake. No offence, but Curselax is pretty lame this gen. CB Lax can take on Latias/Reuniclus without breaking a sweat. Pursuit is basically a guranteed KO on Gengar/Starmie as they switch.

gl!

Trick Room Reuniclus seems fairly troublesome. He can set up Trick Room against -2 Salamence or Gliscor or Mamoswine, and then "outspeeds" all of your team and KOs them with the appropriate attack. Snorlax can survive a Focus Blast, but he is 2HKOed while Return is a 4HKO.
Hidden Power Ice Landorus and Double Dance Terrakion. Landorus can Rock Polish and outspeed and KO every team member with the appropriate attack. Salamence is taken out by Stone Edge, Gliscor by Hidden Power Ice and the others by Earthquake. Terrakion can sweep when Gliscor is taken out by Landorus or when he uses Hidden Power Ice over Swords Dance. If he plays right though, he can KO Gliscor with a +2 Adamant LO Stone Edge.
Dragon Dance Scrafty can set up against Tyranitar, Snorlax, Gliscor or Mamoswine, and can outspeed everyone after 2 Dragon Dances, which is certainly possible with his bulk and OHKOes everyone with the appropriate attack, as most carry Ice Punch to deal with Gliscor. Swords Dance Lucario can be a similar threat, though Salamence is a good check as ExtremeSpeed doesn't KO at +1.

A Skarmory seems like a better fit than Gliscor here. While Skarmory lacks that Fighting-type resistance, most Fighting-types nowadays carry an Ice move to take care of Gliscor. he takes care of Scrafty by Brave Birding or Whirlwinding, and the same for Lucario, Landorus, Terrakion and Excadrill. He can also deal with Trick Room Reuniclus, as he resists Psychic and Shadow Ball and is neutral to Focus Blast. Finally, Sturdy + Whirlwind is a great last resort for dangerous sweepers. The exact set is:

Revamp__silver_skarmory_by_jupitol.png
Skarmory @ Shed Shell | Sturdy
Impish | 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 SpD
Spikes / Brave Bird / Whirlwind / Roost

Good luck!

Your team really does not benefit from tyranitar and the constant sand.

I suggest replacing him with a Magnezone to trap Scizor, Ferrothorn, Forretress etc.

He also works great for when you're running double dragons as you are, because he can kill steels and resists dragon types weaknesses, and they resits his.

462.gif

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 160 HP / 252 SAtk / 96 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Charge Beam
This is the set i have found most useful to use, after you trap a scizor in Bullet punch you can get to +4 at least with a sub up and proceed to take out 2 - 3 opposing Pokemon. He also has amazing synergy with your dragons, taking out there counters and resisting there weakness.

Half your team is defeated by Ice types and the other half by fighting types. I will edit this as soon as I get om my comp. [i am on my 3DS]

@ Luna, I'm satified with Lax. Haxy is nessessary.
@ V0x, I may try that later.
@ Brizznetz, Zong has a more difficult time with Terrakion, I'll still try him tho. curselaxisnotlame
Will edit with more responses to responses later(:

Hey dude, interesting team, a couple things I would change about it though. First thing is on Tyranitar change Leftovers to Chople Berry. It allows you to counter Reuniclus, Gengar, Deoxys-S and many others a lot easier without worrying about their Fighting attacks.

Next, I would switch Choice Band to Life Orb on Mamoswine. The loss in power isn't all that noticeable (I've used Life Orb and it still gets a ton of kills each game) and the ability to switch moves while still hitting like a truck is great. It also allows you to Earthquake something without letting a flyer like Thundurus in for free who gives you problems.

Now, Snorlax doesn't really fit the pace of the team so I'm suggesting to replace him for:

Reuniclus (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Recover

Pretty standard set, but is a nice secondary cleaner to Haxorus and is bulky enough to take hits from opposing TR Reuniclus as well as Virizion who can give you trouble.

Hope this helped, good luck!

I suggest running a Magnezone in place of Snorlax. It seems as if Snorlax was put on the team not to deal with any threats, but because you like it. Magnezone would give you the good old 2Drag1Mag combo.

Dragon Pulse and HP Ice are kinda redundant coverage. I suggest running Fire Spin/ Magma Storm in place of one of the two. While this may seem wierd at first, hear me out. This allows you to trap many threats such as Blissey who think they can get away with coming in on Heatran all day long. The idea is to either go for the kill, or if you predict a troublesome switch, use Fire Spin/ Magma Storm to trap the opponent. Switch to the appropriate counter, BAM 1 down.

I was thinking Roar over Dragon Pulse, because even though it walls Volcarona, it won't be able to do much to it, but Roar will kill its boosts and rack up SR damage.
