The Elite

This is my first post on Smogon. I am currently using this team on Pokemon Showdown (http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/lobby) and I have a good sense of humor. (See below for humor) (Made ya look!)

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 152 SDef / 104 Def / 252 HP
Relaxed Nature
- Power Whip
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed

My favorite little steel durian. This spiky little dude is my main lead which I rotate with my banded Mamoswine depending on team preview. This set is classic Ferro. Thunder Wave immobilizes sweeper and whatnot, Stealth Rock give issues to Volcarona, Solar Power Charizard, ect. and Leech Seed with Leftovers help restore HP. Power Whip is a great and powerful STAB move. EV spread gives other Pokemon somewhat of a challenge. Iron Barbs makes other pokemon think twice about physically attacking him. Ferrothorn also gets amazing synergy with my Speced Chandelure below. (If you looked you really are gullible.)

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball

This guy seems odd when you first look at him in the UU category. "A purple chandelier! Hmmmm, that would look cool on my team!" This is what I first said when I had no clue what i was doing in Competitive Pokemon. Nevertheless, this guy has killed more things than you would imagine. HP Fighting can 2HKO Specially Defensive Tyranitar. Fire Blast is a main STAB and a touch-and-kill move for anything that dose not resist it. Energy Ball for coverage and Shadow Ball to kill a pesky Genger with STAB. Ferrothorn and Chandelure make an amazing combination!

479-wash.gif

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Volt Switch

This little appliance is a common sight on many teams. Thunderbolt and Hydro Pump is his main dual STABs. Hidden Power Fire toasts opposing Ferrothorns. Volt Switch is an extra STAB and keeps momentum or to switch into counter.

635.gif

Hydreigon @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast

The Brutal Pokemon can really live up to its name. My favorite move on Hydiegon is STAB 140 base power Draco Meteor. Focus Blast destroys Heatran and Tyranitar that are common on Sun and Sandstorm teams respectivly. With these threats gone, Chandelure is free to punch holes in teams. Dark Pulse is a decent STAB with flinching capabilities. Fire Blast is useful if Chandelure is gone or just useful in its own right. Levitate and Dark typing make it immune to Ground and Psychic attacks, shutting down Magic Bounce or Dual Screen Espeon without HP Fighting.

473.gif

Mamoswine @ Choice Band
Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Superpower
- Stone Edge

This mammoth of a Pokemon is a a big Physical Attacker and highly useful to my team due to Salamence and Dragonite running loose with Outrage. Ice Shard takes them down with Choice Band boost. Superpower demolishes Chansey and Blissey. Earthquake is a superpowered STAB and works wonders with Stone Edge covering the other end of the spectrum.

214.gif

Heracross @ Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Night Slash
- Stone Edge

This awesome Stag Beetle is in my book under-apreciated. With Poison Heal Breloom and the newbie Conkledurr, I guess its hard to compete with them. Heracross' amazing STAB was Close Combat. Combined with Guts and Megahorn, you've got one tough little bug. Night Slash deals with Ghost and Psychic types and Stone Edge handles Flying types that can destroy Heracross.

I am open to suggestions and my sets are copyable. Also, tell me how well I did on my first post!

Nice first post Vayu!

Now in my opinion, why are you using Icicle Crash/Ice Shard together? Supewrpower maims Chansey/Blissey that can tank those other moves. You can still have Ice Shard for that priority.

Chandy alreadys has one Fire STAB, why run two? You can run HP whatever to cover what you need you know? Overheat should be the obv choice here.

Hope this helps mang!

Cool team but you really don't check offensive threats well. The main thing I was thinking of was Terrakion, which sets up pretty easily, outspeeds everything on your team and OHKO's nearly everything (Rotom can take a non-CB hit, Heracross too but obviously both are 2HKO'd except by Scarf versions).

Sun teams also look very dangerous. Chandelure, Hydreigon, Ferrothorn and Rotom-W are all walled by Heatran in the sun and you just don't have any switchins, capable of taking a powerful Fire attack, which can beat it.

Probably the least intrusive change I can suggest is to replace your Mamoswine with a specially defensive Hippowdon. Buffers you slightly against Terrakion (although it won't help much against LO SD sets), but helps you break down other weather teams which look like they could be problematic. From experience when you're using stuff like Hydreigon and Guts Heracross you really want a solid defensive backbone so you can switch out without having to sacrifice members.

If you're looking for any further changes, replacing Chandelure seems fairly intuitive. SubSplit / Disable Gengar help further against Terrakion and co and also synergise very nicely with Hydreigon. Something like Nasty Plot Mew would work similarly and also synergise well.

Otherwise, congrats on building a fun team. Hope these changes help out, good luck :)

@Jac: Swapped Superpower for Icicle Crash and used HP Fighting on Chandelure to counter Tyranitar

@Bubbly: Thanks dude. Strenthened my defensive backbone with Jellicent. Jellicent also counter Heatran that runs rampant in OU. No thanks on replacing Chandelure. I somewhat despise Gengar since my Mystery Dungeon days.

@Lasers: Just swapped Icicle Crash for Superpower. Thanks though.

@Danceparty: No thanks on Trick Room, but thanks for the compliment.

@Psychomental: Will change EV spread on Ferrothorn. Hydriegon's U-turn will be replaced with Focus Blast. But if he can destroy Heatran and Tyranitar, that will give Chandelure free reign to punch holes in teams. Jellicent is there just coverage, so Scarfed Rotom-W will probably return to the second position on my team. Chandelure is set in stone bro. He is not going any where. Same with Hydriegon. But thanks for the MixNape set.

This team seems nice at a glance, but this team could have problems with Paraflinch due to half of its members having low speed. My only suggestion to make this team better and stop that threat is to maybe replace energy ball on Chandelure and Toxic on Jellicent with Trick Room, and change Mamoswine and Chandelure's Speed Ev's to HP. All in all, great team!
9/10

Hey man, Its not a bad team but I feel there are a few things thats could make the team beter

Firstly on ferrothorn its generally better to have max health before maxing either defensive stat so I recommend putting 252 hp ev's and then keeping 104 ev's in defence, the rest going to special defence.

Next I suggest replacing ice beam with taunt on jellicent. You say its to hurt lati@s but latias takes 40% iirc and recovers up again, and latios doesn't do much more, though a doubt a good one would stay in anyway.

I also feel that focus blast on expert belt hydreigon is much better then u-turn, as this allows you to beat things like heatran and tyranitar, making the hydreigon much more deadly.

Lastly I feel that heracross is outclassed in OU by things like infernape, lucario and conkeldurr to name a few. I personally suggest replacing it with a life orb mixape, to help break down walls foe the rest of the team. Infernape also has great synergy with mamoswine and hydreigon, aswell as helping jellycent and ferrothorn.

Heres the set:
Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch/U-turn
- Stone Edge

You're raping by volcarona with HP ground.
I suggest you putting Salamence scarf stone edge on hydreigon to see dragonite defensive DD.The core defensive is not good clearly. Jellicent on Rotom. Hetran on chandelure and skarmory with steal rock on ferrothorn, to finish puts conckeldurr or terrakion (rock Sword dancer with gem) on heracross. I hope to have helped you ^^

Of a highly-rated your team is not solid clearly it is best that I can make after the rest comes only from you.

Hey, this is a decent team but Trick Room Reuniclus does a number on it. It's able to KO Chandelure with Shadow Ball, while Hydreigon, Ferrothorn and Mamoswine are all taken out by Focus Blast. Rotom-W is the only team member of yours that can live one of Reuniclus's attacks and do something in return to it, although be wary that it takes 80.08% - 94.61% from Trick Room Reuniclus's Psychic, which also OHKOs your Heracross. You could probably play your way around it, but if the opponent manages to lure in Ferrothorn and Reuniclus sets up Trick Room, there's no doubt that it's ripping a hole in your team. I think you could potentially try a Bulky Swords Dance Scizor over Ferrothorn, given that it forms a great core with Rotom-W, as the two cover each others weaknesses as well and is able to take Trick Room Reuniclus's attacks before OHKOing it with Bug Bite. You could also opt to run U-Turn over Bug Bite, although it doesn't get the technician boost and forces you to switch out, losing your boosts. Having U-Turn also allows Scizor to form a chain with Rotom, in which you constantly keep momentum by using Volt Switch and U-Turn. Bulky SD Scizor also gives you some strong priority and an additional Terrakion check, should you ever need it. Anyways, Lefties hit the nail on the head in that this team is weak to Quiver Dance Volcarona, both bulky and offensive variants can sweep this team as the 2 checks you have to Volcarona are very shaky. Chandelure loses outright to Hidden Power Ground variants and can simply be beaten by constant boosting and recovering if you're facing Bulky QD Volcarona. Rotom-W is able to deal some heavy damage with Hydro Pump, but Drought cuts that in half and since you have no way of changing the weather, it will always be up. Volcarona also outspeeds Rotom-W, after a Quiver Dance, and after that it can simply keep boosting or take it out. I think you could fix your Volcarona weakness by using a Choice Scarf Terrakion over Heracross. Choice Scarf Terrakion almost matches Heracross in power, but also has blazing speed, which allows it to easily revenge kill Volcarona and a ton of other threats with its strong STAB.
