I wanted to try to build a team to set out and use type immunities and immunity abilities such as Sap Sipper and Volt Absorb. After much experimentation, trial and error, and losing, this is the team that I have had good success with, but I would welcome any tips for improvement
Poodra (Goodra) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Power Whip
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Tail
- Sludge Wave
Goodra serves as an all around good coverage mon, and hard counter to strong grass types like Rillaboom and Venasaur who are quite potent and baited out by quagsire. I chose to run a physical build to compliment Sap Sipper, and the assault vest plus dragon typing makes Goodra nearly impossible for any special attacker to hit hard. Dragon tail is for set up sweepers like Volcarona and walls like the quagsire I use myself. Power Whip is for other water type coverage as I often try to reserve artozolt for Lando-T. Fire punch is for hitting back the Grass types who's Sap I Sipped, and sludge wave is good coverage for fairy, as special fairy attackers can't do too much too Goodra
Dirt Man (Heatran) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 244 HP / 4 Def / 4 SpA / 12 SpD / 244 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Flash Cannon
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
Heatran's main purpose is to shut down fairy, bait fire type attacks from Arctozolt, and then use earthpower to damage the fire types I just absorbed, including other heatran's. Stealth rock is a great move in general, and magma storm is great for trapping fairy types before flash cannon can take them down.
ArctoFart (Arctozolt) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- Low Kick
- Icicle Crash
- Bolt Beak
Arctozolt is scarfed to hard counter Lando-T, and serves as good coverage for other dragon, water, and flying types. The Low kick can one shot a Tyranitar, and provides good coverage against dark, rock, and steel types. He can also switch into any electric attacks for some good healing, as it is a rather frail pokemon.
Sire Quag (Quagsire) @ Kee Berry
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stockpile
- Recover
- Toxic
- Earthquake
Quagsire is the prototypical wall, who is pretty much unbeatable once any grass types and steel types have been removed. It is the typical quagsire build for strong all around defense and toxic to chip away at enemies who cannot hurt him. The earthquake is to deal super effective damage to poison and steel types who can be toxiced. He can also switch in against water type attacks directed against heatran for free.
Hi Dragon (Hydreigon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Flash Cannon
- Focus Blast
Hydreigon is scarfed to mitigate his somewhat middling speed stat and strike first against any other dragon types who are unscarfed. He hard counters Garchomp especially with levitate and can be switched in for free but baiting the opposing Garchomp to try and Earthquake Heatran. Flash Cannon is good fairy coverage, Focus blast is a high risk option for steel, rock, dark, and ice threats. Draco meteor and dark pulse are his main STAB moves.
Poopychu (Mimikyu) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Play Rough
- Drain Punch
Mimikyu is a strong sweeper with great damage and speed, immunity to dragon, normal, and fighting moves, making him a good switch in for Urshifus targeting my hydreigon, and runs drain punch because two swords dances mean Mimikyu can one shot Ferrothorn with Drain punch as good coverage. Shadow Sneak is great priority for finishing off sweepers as I have no Focus Sashes, and Play Rough is a strong STAB move.
I would appreciate any advice on this team. It is an interesting concept I know won't be too strong but would love to improve it if I can as it is quite fun. Thanks!
