Hey everyone, as promised in my last RMT my next team is going to be a Mega Altaria team. I like Mega Altaria as a Pokémon and its my favorite Mega since Mega Mawile. I have tested this team out a bit and I like how its coming together. I have been using some of the advice from my last RMT and lurked a little more around the forums to help me create this team. I am still new so there will be a few mistakes.

Team Building Process

Mega Altaria is my main mon on the team. Its powerful and has few checks in the metagame.

I needed a Stealth Rock user on my team. For this, Landorus-T was chosen to help cover some steel types that can survive and out speed an attack from Altaria.

So far my team is deathly weak to ice. Volcarona provides a good counter to ice as well as knocking out Ferrothorn and Scizor.

A Defog or Rapid Spin user was needed since Volcarona is weak to Stealth Rocks. Scizor was chosen to not only remove entry hazards but also to counter Mega Diancie.

I felt like this team needed something to counter strong water types. Slowbro was a good choice since he eats up lots of physical and water attacks as well as paralyzing opponents for Altaria.

At this point I needed another attacker. However, I needed something to wall out Rotom-W and (M-) Slowbro. While a Serperior was considered, I chose my Hydreigon for a strong attacker that destroys Slowbro and can handle a burn. It is also the best answer for killing Bisharp.

The Team

altaria-mega.gif

Rachel (M-Altaria) (F) @ Altarianite
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Return
-Earthquake
-Roost
-Dragon Dance

Mega Altaraia is one of the most feared Pokémon right now. Its dual Dragon/Fairy typing gives it a lot of resistances. Its Evs are spread to give it the most power possible and become a big threat to teams. Here are some examples of how strong Altaria is:
+1 252+ Atk Pixilate Mega Altaria Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Sableye: 206-246 (131.2 - 156.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Pixilate Mega Altaria Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Multiscale Dragonite: 172-204 (103.6 - 122.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Pixilate Mega Altaria Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gliscor: 103-123 (56.5 - 67.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal
252+ Atk Mega Altaria Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Manectric: 134-158 (92.4 - 108.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

Mega Altaria is a monster that can destroy teams if given the chance. Pixilated Return is the obvious sweeping move as it gets STAB and a boost from Pixilate. Reutrn hits Mega Sableye hard and can destroy Multiscale Dragonite. Earthquake is for any steel types trying to switch in on her and knocks out Heatran and has a good chance to OHKO Mega Manectric. Dragon Dance gives Altaria more power and allows her to become a very good sweeper. Roost is used in the last slot to heal any damage from some Pokémon able to withstand her onslaught.

landorus-therian.gif

A.J. Green (Landorus-T) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP/ 240 Def/ 8 S.Def/ 8 Spe
Impish Nature
-Earthquake
-Knock Off
-Stealth Rock
-U-Turn
Landorus is a good Pokémon that seems to find its way onto most of my teams. His Evs are used to set up Stealth Rocks and then become a useful defensive pivot Pokémon for Hydreigon and Altaria. Earthquake is his only STAB move that hurts Excadrill, Mega Metagross and choice scarf Magnezone which would otherwise kill Altaria. Knock Off allows Landorus to get rid of any leftovers or powerful offensive items suck as life orb and choice items. Stealth Rocks is the obvious entry hazard. U-Turn is a good pivot option that can keep momentum going especially against a slower opponent such as Conkeldurr, which Landorus cannot kill.

volcarona.gif

Queen Ghoma (Volcarona) (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 240 HP/ 252 Def/ 16 Spe
Timid Nature
-Fiery Dance
-Quiver Dance
-Bug Buzz
-Roost

This Volcarona is a bulky Quiver Dance user I found a while ago. Its Evs allow it to survive a few attacks in order to use Quiver Dance. Its Defensive EVs make up for its crappy Def stat while HP keeps it alive. Sitrus Berry is used incase of a Whirlwind user forces us in or I'm forced to switch in due to my defogger being dead. This berry heals a lot of HP so it can still survive at least 1 attack after Stealth Rocks. Fierty Dance is good STAB move which may raise its S. Atk when used. (I am thinking of switching it to Fire Blast) This move allows me to melt any ice types threatening my team and can counter Serperior, Celebi, and other strong grass types. It also checks bulky steel types such as Scizor and Ferrothorn. Quiver Dance raises both my S. Atk and Spe allowing Volcarona to out speed Pokémon under a base 110 Spe after just 1 Quiver Dance. Bug Buzz deals good damage and hurts psychic types. Roost allows Volcarona to heal some of its damage taken so it does not have to lose its stat boosts. When used with Sitrus Berry under Stealth Rocks, it allows Volcarona to recover most of the damage it took from SR from the one turn the berry gave it.

scizor.gif

Maka (Scizor) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/ 44 Atk/ 16 Def/ 200S. Def
Impish Nature
-Bullet Punch
-Roost
-Defog
-U-Turn

Scizor is my defog user on this team. However, she can also be used to counter some fairy Pokémon that give Altaria some trouble. Life Orb is given to OKHO Mega Diancie with Bullet Punch. Bullet Punch is its STAB move that OHKOs Mega Diancie and can 2HKO Mega Gardevoir. Roost allows Scizor to heal damage done by Life Orb and to be annoying to my opponent. Defog gets rid of Stealth Rocks for Volcarona and other entry hazards that can hurt Altaria and Slowbro such as Toxic Spikes. U-Turn can get Scizor out of danger if my opponent tries to switch into a fire type or a strong special attacker such as Keldo and Raikou.

slowbro.gif

Derrrrrrrrrr (Slowbro) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP/ 232 Def/ 24 S. Def
Bold Nature
-Slack Off
-Thunder Wave
-Ice Beam
-Scald

Slowbro is one of my favorite Pokémon on this team. He takes water attacks like they're nothing and then asks for more. Regenerator is very useful to heal damage from statuses and from very strong special attackers. Slowbro's job is to take water hits its its Evs allow him to do that. Even a Choice Specs Keldeo can only 3HKO Slowbro IF it lands 3 Hydro Pumps. Azumarill also has trouble with this thing. Even then Slowbro has enough bulk to paralyze it. Slack Off helps with Slowbro's recovery and allows him to potentially PP stall out a Keldo's Hydro Pump. Thunder Wave allows it to cripple faster Pokémon for Altaria and Hydreigon to deal with. Ice Beam allows Slowbro to hit Dragon types hard and 2HKOs Landorus-T and Gliscor. Scald deals good damage that can burn and cripple Pokemon such as Garchomp, Dragonite, Kyurem-B, and Scizor who may switch in to take a Scald.

hydreigon.gif

A. Hydranoid IV (Hydreigon) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 S. Atk/ 252 Spe
Modest Nature
-Draco Meteor
-Earth Power
-Dark Pulse
-Flash Cannon

Hydreigon does its job well and then some. Hydreigon is used to wall out Rotom- W and Mega/Slowbro which threaten my team. Due to his high S. Atk and life orb, he has no trouble 2HKOing these two and many others. Draco Meteor is very strong move that deals heavy damage to anyone on the receiving end. It OKHOs a defensive Rotom-W 2HKOs a specially defensive one too. Earth Power lends some help to Landorus who cannot switch into Bisharp and to Volcarona who is likely to get 2HKO from Bisharp. Dark Pulse is another good attacking move that has a chance to make my opponent flinch. Dark Pulse 2HKOs Mega/Slowbro and can be used against Rotom-W if I need to keep my S. Atk up. Its also a good counter to Gengar who threatens Altaria and Slowbro. Flash Cannon is for those fairy types who want to switch into Hydreigon. With its speed, Hydreigon is likely to 2HKO most fairies if they try to switch into it.

Threats:
006-my.png
Mega Charizard Y- No matter what I seem to do with my teams, this mon always seems to get in the way. Only Altaria can take a hit from this thing but cannot OHKO it after Stealth Rocks.
490.png
Tail Glow Manaphy- Tail Glow Manaphy does not rip apart my team but is a big problem with 1 Tail Glow. The only counter to this is Slowbro who can tank a Scald after Tail Glow and paralyze it.
003-m.png
Mega Venusaur- This is not so much as a threat as as the other two. Instead its something I do not have a good check for. Due to its ability, only Volcarona has a chance of kocking it out with a few Quiver Dances and/or Fire Blast.

Hey Lelouch. This is a very well-written RMT and an excellent team (but please for the love of god fix those sprites. Holy moly.)
Anyway, this is my first rating of someone else's team, so although I'll try my best, don't take only my word for any necessary changes or replacements. Please bear with me, hehe.

First off, I'd like to suggest running a Jolly Mega-Altaria over an Adamant one, since you will be able to revenge Jolly Bisharps without getting KOed by an unfortunate Iron Head. If you really want to, you can run 208 Speed EVs on a Jolly nature (placing the remaining EVs into HP for bulk) so that you can Speedcreep 252+ Mega Lopunnies/Manectrics after a single DD, while also outspeeding Bisharp.

For your Volcarona, I suggest running Lum Berry over Sitrus with at least 144 Speed EVs, and replacing Roost with Giga Drain or HP Ground. Throwing Volcarona onto rocks is painful, especially with a low speed investment because you might not be able to take a hit before dishing one back. With 144 Speed EVs, you will be able to outspeed most unscarfed mons after one Quiver Dance. Giga Drain should be a good recovery move while HP Ground takes care of Heatran, which can drive Volcarona to a sudden halt.

Since you're running a Defog SpD Scizor, run Leftovers over Life Orb. This will help you survive for a longer because Scizor is a brilliant switch-in to resisted special attackers, namely Lati@s.

Try running Psyshock over Ice Beam on your Slowbro; neither said Landorus or Gliscor will want to be hit by a super-effective STAB water attack, and Landorus won't appreciate a scald burn at all. This will also help you take on Mega Venusaur, which looks like a significant threat to your team, especially if it's bulky.

As it stands, your team is fairly weak to Weavile, which is becoming more common in the OU metagame. Worry not, because the versatility of Weavile makes it an almost-no-switch-ins mon on most teams anyway. If you see Weavile on your opponent's team, do your best to keep Scizor healthy and hit 'em with a BP when you can. Rotom-W can also pose as a threat because it hits hard on your Lando, Volcarona, and Slowbro while being able to WoW your Altaria. (Running Giga Drain on your Volcarona should negate this weakness a little bit.) It also looks like LO or NP Thundurus can invalidate or KO a significant portion of your team. Wearing them down with rocks or even running a scarfed Hydreigon to [hopefully] catch Thundurus off-guard can aid you in a sticky situation.

Otherwise, your teem looks quite neat, and I wish you luck in your future endeavors! ^^

Most changes suggested above are pretty good, I'd like to emphasize the importance of Giga Drain on Volcarona, it's basically mandatory since it lets Volcarona break past Water types and get its health back, and even if you decide to keep the bulky set I would still highly reccommend you run it becuase it offers much better coverage than Bug Buzz overall. Also, on a defensive set, Leftovers seems more beneficial than Sitrus Berry in the long run.

The main problem with your team is Scizor. It is just flat-out not a very good defogger, especially when running a Life Orb. And while Scizor may be good enough hazard removal for some teams, you're using Volcarona, and are better off using a very reliable hazard remover. Fortunately, there's a simple change to your team you can put in place which gives you a great hazard remover, and that's running Starmie over Slowbro. Starmie fits very neatly over it, since it has the same typing and handles the same Pokemon for the most part, and like Slowbro can pull off a defensive ste quite well, and is a much better answer to Heatran thanks to Natural Cure removing Toxic (which most Heatran carry). It's also not as passive as Slowbro which his nice on a team that's mostly offensive.

The big problem this causes is that you become weaker to Azumarill, already a problem to your team. You can deal with this by running offensive Passho Berry Volcarona over your more defensive set: this lets Volcarona lure Azumarill via KO with Giga Drain and taking little damage from Aqua Jet.
However, a more reliable way of handling it is running Ferrothorn over Scizor. This is a good idea for multiple reasons: firstly, Ferrothorn is quite reliable as handling Azumarill, only losing to Banded Superpower which is a free setup for Altaria and Volcarona, and BD which Altaria can revenge kill quite easily. Ferrothorn also completes your Fire/Water/Grass core, and has particularly good synergy with Starmie since it resists both of Ferro's weaknesses. In fact, you ream has well enough Fighting and Fire resists to be able to afford. Ferro also deals with most variants of Manaphy, which you mentioned as a big threat, quite well. And finally, Ferrothorn gives you Spikes Support, making your team a full-on hazard-stacking team. Spikes are particularly great since they wear down DD Altaria checks like Mega Venusaur, Scizor and opposing Ferrothorn very easily. And obviously, Ferrothorn handles Fairies quite well, with the exception of Clefable which Volcarona can deal with more often than not.
You are still weak to Clefable though, if you're very concerned about that you can run Choice Banded Scizor instead of your own variant, but imo it's not as good as Ferrothorn. By the way, I would keep Adamant on Altaria since the ability to 2HKO Clefable is IMO more important than outspeeding MLopunny and MManectric at +1.
Since Unaware variants are much more threatening to you than Magic Guard variants, you could consider running Toxic on Landorus-T to cripple it (also completely ruins Slowbro which you mentioned as a big threat), but Knock Off is more useful overall.

As for your weaknesses to Mega Charizard-Y and Mega Venusaur, those are definitely 2 pretty big threats (YZard much more so than Venu since Volc can set up on the latter). Maybe you could run Latios or Latias as your defogger instead of Starmie. However, Defog is less Spikes-friendly than Rapid Spin for obvious reasons, and having 3 Dragon-types isn't really a good idea since you stack weaknesses to Fairy and Ice.
