ORAS OU The founding fathers putting in work (peak 1450+)

Hey there,
My Name is Juridisch Advies (dutch for legal counsel) and I'm currently playing around in the OU tier. I was tired of using other peoples teams so I decided to create one of my own. It started off with an offensive lando-t because I believe everybody is using this thing defensively or put a scarf on it. No one expects a sword dance or rock polish in the current meta. I hope you enjoy reading my RMT and please leave some feedback behind.

George Washington (Landorus-Therian) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 56 HP / 220 Atk / 232 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance

56 Hp allows lando to take on excadrill in the sand and set up on him. It also makes sure that you can switch in on hazzards. Adamant+220 Atk allows lando to hit as hard as possible without giving up on speed. Stone edge + earthquake gives it reliable coverage on flying types/levitate users and earthquake is there for Stab. Make sure to set up rock polish against offensive teams and sword dance against a defensive team. I am think about using a yacha berry(to live ice moves) or a lum berry (to stop will-o) but I can't decide which is best.

ferrothorn-4.gif

Benjamin Franklin (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers/Shed shel
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Gyro Ball

My stealth rocker and switch into everything bar fire types. This spread is the standard spread I believe and it can stop most of the moves on the physical and special spectrum. Leech seed is there to gain more HP and protect to scout for a potential OHKO move+ leeching more life out of my opponent. Gyro ball is there to stop fairies and other fast Pokemon. Shed shell is also an option to leave magnezone in the dust.

latios.gif

Thomas Paine (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Defog
- Roost
- Psyshock

Latios is here to keep hazards off the field and providing a check to special attackers like keldeo, mega manetric and manaphy. Doing great damage with LO boosted Dracos and Psyschocks really helps the team out. Roost is there to keep him healthy throughout the match. The Ev spread is pretty standard again, but it helps to outspeed most of the tier and still do a lot of damage.

lopunny.gif

James Madison (Lopunny-Mega) (M) @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick
- Return

This thing is power and HJK is broken. This thing is my chip damage machine. Using fake out and then a fast return or HJK kills most pokemon. Ice punch is there for occasional lando, chomp and other flying types. I use jolly nature to outspeed as many pokemon as possible and get an attack of first. Limber is usefull if you predict a t-wave.

raikou.gif

John Adams (Raikou) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch

Raikou gives me switch initiative in volt switch which can be fairly useful. Calm Mind boosts Raikou's Special Attack, allowing it to function as an effective boosting sweeper. Thunderbolt is the main STAB attack, providing the most power against neutral targets. HP Ice covers most Ground- and Dragon-types, which would otherwise wall Raikou. The ev spread is to make raikou speedy and still able to put in work. Leftovers are there to gain hp you lose when setting up.

clefable.gif

Thomas Jefferson (Clefable) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Flamethrower
Another CM sweeper and my sable-eye check. This thing sets up against stall and kill them all. Moonblast=Stab , Flamethrower for coverage against steels like scizor and excadrill, Soft-boiled for that delicious health points and calm mind to be as bulky as possible. The ev's are there to make it surive more hits and hit back hard with cm boosted attacks.

I hope you enjoyed reading my RMT =)

Steel types are a pain in the ass to deal with 'cause I don't have a reliable fire type move bar flamethrower on my clefable.

mega-lopunny : If it runs ice punch it can be a real annoyance, but clefable can keep it in check somehow

Gyarados : This thing is a beast after it sets up one DD it breaks my team in half. Luckily I didn't come across a lot of them during testing.

Hi Juridisch advies,

nice team, I won't change that much because it's already pretty solid. By the way, replace Leftovers with Zap Plate on Raikou, as this will allow you to lure a Choice Specs/Assault Vest set with Raikou so that Calm Mind becomes lethal in lategame if your opponent doesn't expect this move. A Raikou holding Leftovers has always Sub + CM or a variant without Sub, so that's kinda predictable.

Then, since your team is weak to Gyarados, you should minimize its chances to set up, so just replace Protect with Power Whip on Ferrothorn. This will allow you to break Substitutes and hit super effectively Mega Gyarados, while you don't need Protect. You can either give Ferrothorn a Chople Berry or keep Leftovers. Chople Berry would help you against the likes of Gengar and Gardevoir with Focus Blast. It allows Ferrothorn to check Lopunny as well! Finally, you can use Encore on Mega Lopunny over Ice Punch to deal with stall more effectively.

Good luck with your team. Hope I helped!

Hi Juridisch advies, really cool team but I've some sugestions to help improve the team :toast:
  1. I'll recommend replacing Protect on Ferrothorn for Power Whip, it helps you to deal with things like Mega Gyarados a lot better as it can otherwise set up on your team pretty easily and sweep your team.

  2. Instead of using Raikou in the team that helps provide your team with a set-up sweeper, try using a Manaphy with Tail Glow, Hidden Power-Fire, Scald and Energy Ball. It helps to provide your team with a check to the 3 threats you mentioned, Scizor, Excadrill and Ferrothorn. The ability to break through walls is much greater with Manaphy instead of Raikou while also checking the things you mentioned you were weak to. Another reason why Manaphy would be a good fit with the team is because common switch-ins to Manaphy such as Tornadus-T, Latios, Latias and Clefable can be handled with things like your own Clefable and Ferrothorn fairly easy which then allows you to go into them and set up your hazards or set up Calm Minds.

  3. With Manaphy in place of Raikou, you can consider dropping Flamethrower on Clefable for Thunder Wave instead but you can still keep it just so that you can lure the Steel type in and weaken them with it if you think that it is not worth the change.

Hope I helped :]
