VGC The H Guys!

The H Guys!

Hello, my name is dafakemonguy. I would call myself a good teambuilder, but an ok player. I would like some feedback so I can make this team the best team possible. Before I go in, the format is gen9vgc2024regh, which is why all my Pokémon have nicknames starting with H and are called the H Guys!

gallade.gif

Hunter (Gallade) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sharpness
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Psycho Cut
- Sacred Sword
- Night Slash
- Tera Blast

Ah yes, the man himself. I wanted to build this entire team around Gallade because I think it is a great Pokémon in this format. It threatens Archaludon with huge fighting type damage and can still hit Archaludon with super effective damage after it terastallizes into a Ghost type with Night Slash. Hunter can even ignore Stamina defense boosts because Sacred Sword straight up ignores the opponent's stats and Psycho Cut and Night Slash have increased crit ratios! Top this thing off with an Assault Vest to tank Archaludon's special moves, Adamant Nature to have a better chance of OHKOing Archaludon with Sacred Sword, Sharpness to boost Hunter's slicing moves (Psycho Cut, Sacred Sword, Night Slash), and you have the hardest Archaludon counter ever! Since Fairy is a good typing, and Hunter can cover its weaknesses really well, I made him tera Fairy with Tera Blast.

Harper (Typhlosion-Hisui) (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Blaze
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Eruption
- Shadow Ball
- Heat Wave
- Overheat

haha eruption go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Sadly, I have to put at least 3 lines describing what this Pokémon does for this post to not get locked. OK, all jokes aside, Harper really hits like a truck. Tera Fire Helping Hand Choice Specs Boosted Full Health Eruption can OHKO most Pokémon from full HP. It also covers Hunter's Ghost Weakness. Those are the two moves it uses. I'm going to be honest with you, the only reason Harper has Heat Wave and Overheat is because she has to have four moves to post her here on RMT without getting locked. For any of you guys wondering, I went for Choice Specs over Choice Scarf for pure damage. Plus, Harper is already pretty fast without the scarf.

pawmot.png

Hayden (Pawmot) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Iron Fist
Level: 50
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunder Punch
- Close Combat
- Revival Blessing
- Protect

I had added five Pokémon to my team only to realize that my team did not have a good answer to flying types, especially Pelipper. The Focus Sash has helped Hayden a lot, since Pawmot are very frail. Another good reason Hayden is on this team is because he gets Revival Blessing. Bringing back your fainted teammates to life is very useful, even more useful when your fainted Pokémon is your main attacker. I have used Revival Blessing to bring back Gallade, and it has even clutched me a battle. Close Combat also does a lot of damage to Archaludon. Hayden's Tera Electric because I did not plan to terastallize him ever, so I just kept the default option on Showdown.

goodra-hisui.gif

Helen (Goodra-Hisui) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Gooey
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 4 SpA / 92 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Body Press
- Life Dew
- Protect

Alright, on to the support Pokémon! I decided to add Helen to the team because she's really bulky and can easily take hits from Archaludon (Except for Stamina boosted Body Presses). Originally, Helen had Acid Spray, but after realizing it didn't help all that much, I replaced it with Body Press and made Helen more physically defensive to match. Helen is supposed to be my Fairy type counter, which is why I opted to give it Flash Cannon over Draco Meteor. To round it off, I gave Helen Life Dew to keep the team healthy, Tera Ghost to avoid Fighting type moves, Leftovers for longevity, and the ability Gooey so no one REMOVES her lefties.

clefairy.gif

Hailey (Clefairy) (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Friend Guard
Level: 50
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Alluring Voice
- Follow Me
- Helping Hand
- Protect

Pretty reliable support Pokémon right here. Now, for those who don't know why Clefairy is better than its evolution, Clefable, just read
First of all, Clefairy gets Friend Guard, which reduces the damage that its teammates take. Clefable doesn't have this ability. Also, a Clefairy Holding an Eviolite actually has a similar defense and special defense stat to Clefable
Hailey has the standard set of Follow Me, Helping Hand, Protect, and .... Alluring Voice? Yes, I'm running a Clefairy with Alluring Voice. I have this philosophy that every single Pokémon should have at least one damaging move to give me a slither of a chance of winning in case this is the last Pokémon I have left. Alluring Voice is also useful to deal with Archaludon with Stamina Boosts, which will confuse it (if it got one on the same turn I use the move). Hailey's Tera Steel to give it a massive number of resistances, which it wants to have since it is tanky.

amoonguss.gif

Harrison (Amoonguss) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 4 SpA / 64 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Spore
- Rage Powder
- Protect

I don't know how to start this explanation, there's nothing really innovative on Harrison. Uhhhh .................... I guess I'll start with his moves. I gave him Giga Drain to keep him healthy and it also helps deal with Primarina, who is really annoying to deal with. And then the standard Spore, Rage Powder, and Protect. I didn't know what tera to give Harrison, so I made it Tera Ground to be immune to Electro Shots and other electric type moves. It has Regenerator and Rocky Helmet to be very hard to take down and to be really annoying.

Well, that's all for this team. I would love some suggestions on changing my team if anyone has any ideas on how this team could be better to take down threats like Archaludon (wow, who would've guessed).

Oh yeah, here's the link to my PokéPaste for this team https://pokepast.es/2669c10d582e6d7b

Hey dafakemonguy, this is a pretty nice team. But there are a lot of weird and clashing things going on. I'll make the weaknesses here:

:Archaludon:+:pelipper:+:basculegion:
This is a very strong and popular core, and you have virtually no way in stopping it. With proper positioning you'll do alright, but it can be very scary and overall a negative matchup for this team, which can be, as mentioned before, frightening.

:indeedee-f:+:gallade:
Wide Guard+TR or Follow Me+TR, ggs shake my hand.

Pokemon Changes

:pawmot: --> :farigiraf:
Pawmot is just, random. Yeah, removing makes you weaker to Pelipper, and I respect that view. But Gallade already beats Archaludon. You can keep this if you want and switch Gallade, but I recommend this.

:Goodra-hisui: --> :ursaluna-bloodmoon:
Why? Feels super random, and this works well in conjunction with Farigiraf, while keeping two Archaludon answers.

:amoonguss: --> :whimsicott:
Sunny Day+Eruption Typhlosion-H. Plus, you already had Clefairy, so Amoonguss is just kinda sorta overkill.

Other Changes

:gallade:
:assault vest: --> :clear amulet:
Tera Blast --> Protect
Tera Fairy --> Tera Dark
EVs: 4 HP / 252+ Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpDef / 244 Spe
Clear Amulet provides better endurance versus Intimidate, and your team already was kinda meh into Incineroar. Protect is just good, and Tera Dark blocks out Shadow Ball from Ghost-types. These new EVs don't only look nice, but they also out speed Adamant Basculegion.

:Clefairy:
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4+ SpDef
Optimized the EVs for Clefairy's lower Physical Defense.

That's it! Paste here: https://pokepast.es/d25af7b2a2f1e330
Any questions and you can ask me, but as always, happy battling!
