k, the title has nothing to do with the team (see: no dragons), its Iroh's tea shop in avatar.
ive just returned to shoddy battling after a long hiatus from pokemon/only ingame BT-ing. i left when suicide leads started popping up, i didnt leave because of them but thats the time frame. im not fully versed on the changes platinum has brought so this team faces some 'wtf' moments.
ive revised it in some areas but it's pretty much in its earliest stages of development. the matches ive had have probably been a 1.5-1 win/loss ratio.
==========================================
Anole (Kecleon) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Color Change
EVs: 240 HP/16 Atk/152 Def/100 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Magic Coat
- Stealth Rock
- Sucker Punch
---
lead kecleon makes for a surprisingly...adequate lead. i wanted a fakeout-er with magic coat (fake out for sashes, magic coat for sleep moves and taunt [ that's a glitch though right?]). kecleon > lopunny, so here he is.
when color change actually has an impact (as in if my sash isnt used) it tends to be good/ok/maneageable. stealth rock because of how important it seems to be these days, (ive heard re: skymin etc).
i rarely use magic coat and stealth rock late in the game, when kecleon becomes fodder. im thinking of maybe placing snatch over magic coat because CM-suicune and others tend to be hard for me to deal with.
Cinderella (Weezing) (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt
- Pain Split
- Explosion
---
Weezing is an excellent physical wall, beating out a lot. fits well with the rest of team, the psy-weak is 'covered' by slaking to an extent. has been working out well. ... pretty limited comment-wise
Seeker (Ninetales) (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 196 Spd/252 SAtk/60 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Overheat
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Hypnosis
---
Ninetales is cooler than the other OU-useable flash fire pokes....by a long mile. so here she is. choice scarf to revenge kill skymins. 196 spd + modest (over timid) for 285 speed beating out 280 scarf-ers and heatrans max. scarf does end up in her death a fair bit but (imo) is required with this set.
Overheat for hit and run-ness, energy ball as standard.
HP ground for that same heatran, doing typically around 50ish% with modest. only does round 25% to tentacruel but its something that can repeatedly hit it.
hypnosis is an issue for me. its still useful but the reason i originally decided on scarf was because the nasty plot/hypnosis combo is too hard with the 10% acc drop. its still there for some team sleep and lack of a better 4th slot move.
BattleStar (Starmie) @ Wide Lens
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 100 HP/110 Def/200 Spd/100 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Blizzard
- Recover
- Rapid Spin
---
this starmie is the spinner who can deal with t-spikes. i had tentacruel originally but starmie works just as well...and is cooler.
i wanted to run choice specs with surf/icebeam and rest /over recover but was worried about the lack of versatility that would offer. my solution was wide lens + the power moves, but truth be told id still prefer the other way despite losing that versatility. is that viable? then the spA evs can be moved to HP...
Iroh (Slaking) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Truant
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Ice Punch
- Return
- Fire Punch
---
This spot is the strong pursuiter that this teams general synergy needs, taking the psy pokes psychics that are generally in most teams now..
Snorlax was good for the spD, but his pursuits were too weak. metagross was ok as it also added the resistances of steel to the team but he wasnt working. so now its slakings turn in the ring. so far it has been working ok but im still a bit iffy about it. tyranitar could work but the rest of the team doesnt enjoy sandstorm that much.
Bagoda (Rotom-c) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/100 Def/158 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder Wave
- Light Screen
---
rotom, like the above slaking, is one of the most confused spots on the team. im using him because of all the coolness i expected from leaf storm, but its again not working too well. his resistances fit nicely with the team, especially with two normals, but he seems to be the most replaceable member of the team.
he used to be bold with reversed defences but he is now calm for some special defense on the team.
i think ive lost sight of the grand ideas i had when thinking up this team (it started with the avatar episode 'the library', with ninetales as the knowledge seeker and torterra as a lion turtle (he got lost in the building process)....wan shi tong got overlooked *ignores noctowl*), but i still have hope that it can turn out well.
a few problems ive noticed is that double-up resistances have me making odd mistakes at odd times. the only real synergy present is with resistances and such while trying to mess up some other teams strategies. i dont set up one pokemon in particular and in the end it becomes a true team effort...sometimes in taking down one pokemon.
thanks for any advice/help/rates
