the Maria Lauterbach case

I'm sure many of you have heard about the female Marine, Maria Lauterbach, who has been missing since December. What you all don't know, though, is that I live in Jacksonville, NC, home of Camp Lejeune, the largest military base on the east coast of the United States, and this is where Maria Lauterbach was stationed. There is a manhunt for the Marine linked to her disappearance and assumed death, Armando Laurean.

It is just a little unsettling that shit like this goes on around my hometown. What's more, one of my sister's best friends lives one street over from the Armando Laurean.

What are your thoughts on this?

It's only a tiny bit suspicious to take flight after your pregnant SO goes missing. It's like OJ fleeing from the cops in the white Ford Bronco for hours, and then saying "I was just scared." Bullshit, you did it.

I hope they shank the peson responsible. Murder is one thing; murdering a pregnant woman is a whole different league. I say they rough him up before the death sentence he deserves.

I hate to be a contrarian dick in a thread like this but come on, murder is murder. It wouldn't have been any better if he murdered her when she wasn't pregnant.

The Constitution forbids any "Cruel and Unusual Punishments." I wish they would ammend that one and make it so however the murderer kills someone, that is the way they have to die too. I like the irony.

Except for the almost term baby, you're right. Do they cound that as a double homicide? If it's old enough to have the right not to be aborted, is it old enough to be considered for homicide?

It's

damn you vista!!!!

I was gonna say, when the computer errored and posted that last message:

It's not cruel or unusual if we make it standard practise to rough up people that murder.

(sorry for double post, no edit function)

This thread is not about abortion, and I strongly suggest you do not drag it there. This is your only warning.

Just was referencing it cause I was curious what the standard for 'double homicide' is. I'm not up and up on my homicide laws. I guess this would be a double homicide. What kind of sentence will the suspect expect, when caught?

I wasn't talking to you.

Also, I have no idea if it would count as a double homicide or not. Probably depends on the state (and for Florida, I have no idea).

It depends if it was man slaughter of a varying degree, 2nd or 1st degree murder with premeditaion or not. You will not know until they try any suspects.

Yes it is double-homicide.

@Surgo-That was not where I was going, but I will not go there again because I most definitely do not want to end up like majesty.

In the state of North Carolina, the baby has to be breathing in order for it to be considered murder when killing a pregnant mother.

You're all going on about how he should be 'roughed up before he gets the death penalty'; do you not know how horrific the lethal injection could well be?
