We've heard your dissatisfaction with the state of some of our metagames this generation. Gen 9 has presented some unique, completely unprecedented challenges to tiering our many metagames, which has led to some inevitable burnout amongst contributors, councils, and leaders alike. This can in turn lead to metagames, even some of our largest and most active ones, going a significant amount of time without tiering action even when the community deems it as necessary. This is a particular issue with some of our smaller, less-popular metagames, where one or two contributors stepping back can throw the entire metagame into disarray.
To help give our struggling metagames a boost where necessary and keep things flowing as smoothly as possible, OM Forum Staff have agreed on some internal restructuring: a major aspect of which being the formation of a Metagame Management Team. Put simply, this is a team of staff and leaders who are going to be responsible for keeping tabs on our metagames, both big and small, and stepping in wherever necessary. This can be as simple as checking in with metagame leaders to touch base, but may also (in extreme circumstances) include archiving metagames and replacing inactive council members when necessary. If you see some changes in the next few months, this is why!
Metagame leaders: if one of us reaches out to you, you're not in trouble! We're just here to make sure that our metagames can be as fun, competitive, and engaging for as many people as possible.
Community members: If you have concerns, please bring them to the attention of an OM Staff Member! We're going to be as proactive as possible, but your voices are always appreciated incase we've overlooked something.
The existing Metagame Management Team includes all OM Forum Staff, but should this change, you'll see it the Rules, Info, and Announcement Thread. We also plan to open moderator applications at a later date.
