ORAS OU The Metal Bug

Hi guys, I've been having trouble making a team but I eventually came up with this one. It's been doing well but I feel like it's lacking something, so any advice is appreciated.

Changes in Bold

212-m.png

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 64 SpD / 24 Spe
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- Swords Dance

First off is the Mega of this team. I chose Mega Scizor mainly because of how well it checks physical threats like Mega Lopunny and Mega Metagross. I chose a Physically Defensive set to effectively check said mega Pokemon, and added Swords Dance and Roost so I can also pull off a possible sweep.

243 (1).png

Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 32 SpD / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Extrasensory

Raikou's been doing pretty well in OU so I decoded to try him out. He helps take out bulky waters that my team might struggle with and also acts as a pseudo special wall. I decided on the AV set since it helps to be able to switch into things like Rotom-W's Hydro Pump and take limited damage. It also might bluff a Specs set to some unsuspecting opponents.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 4 SpAtk
Calm Nature
-Lava Plume
-Taunt
-Toxic
-Protect / Stealth Rocks

Heatran is my Special Wall in this team. And he does his job effectively, being able to eat up Fire attacks for Scizor and effectively checking things like Chansey, Clefable, and other set up attackers. He also beats some Grass Types like Ferrothorn that I might struggle with.

380 (1).png

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 184 SpA / 72 HP / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Defog
-Draco Meteor
-Psyshock
-Roost

Latios is here for Defog and Healing Wish support. She effectively checks(or counters) Rotom-W, who won't appreciate a Draco Meteor. Can also beat some Special Walls with Psyshock.

652.png

Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
-Leech Seed
-Spiky Shield
-Wood Hammer / Spikes
-Drain Punch

Chesnaught is my main man in walling non Sludge Wave variants of Gengar. He's able to safely switch in and force out Gengar, easily, of it's the standard sub set. I decided to make him defensive as that's his best properly, and possible a back up wall if Scizor goes down.

645-s.png

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Earthquake
-U-Turn
-Stone Edge
-Knock Off

Here's the great Landorus-T. He gives a good Ground Immunity and also helps this team from getting 6-0'd by Char X. He's also a great revenge killer for threats like Mega Alakazam and Beedrill, who can eat this team. Lastly, he makes a good VoltTurn combo with Raikou.

So that's the team. As of right now it's been doing fairly good, but like I said, I don't think it's amazing. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm a huge fan of chesnaught/heatran core! they are two great hazard setters and yet neither one of yours have them.

I'd suggest adding either stealth rock or spikes to one of them.

I'm not the best player or rater but I'm not sure what wood hammer hits that drain punch or raikou's Tbolt hit besides rotom-w and hippodown and you have latias for rotom-w and scizor should be able to beat hippo 1 vs 1. therefore I'd say replace wood hammer with spikes. chesnaught still walls mega gyarados

I might put Rocks on Tran but I really don't know what to replace on it. The main reason I keep Wood Hammer on Chesnaught is because of the pure damage it does. A Sylveon came in once and it did a good 50%. So I'm kinda torn on replacing Wood Hammer for Spikes.

First off, I want to say that the standard Gengar set is LO, not Sub Wisp

On Mega-Scizor, run a more efficient spread of 248 HP / 172+ Def / 64 SpD / 24 Spe, which lets you survive Clef's Fire Blast, Mega-Diancie's HP Fire, Scarf Magnezone's HP Fire, as well as banded Azu's Waterfall. Raikou looks fantastic, but Heatran could also use some tweaking. His spread accomplishes nothing worthwhile, 68 Spe EVs outspeeds nothing relevant. If you want to speed creep most Mega-Scizors and be able to taunt some things, alter the EVs to 128 Spe, 248 HP(lefties number) and 132+ SpD. I support Callahan in the suggestion of a hazard setting core, it mounts cool offensive pressure and allows Scizor to get some KO's. SR on Tran and Spikes on Chestnaught, or just one, really. I don't know about the Chestnaught spread, but to me it looks good.

I like the team a lot, SilverForUbers

Mega Scizor's original spread ----> 248 HP / 172 Def / 64 SpD / 24 Spe Impish

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 128 Spe / 248 HP / 132 SpD
Calm Nature
-Lava Plume
-Toxic
-Taunt / Stealth Rocks
-Protect

Chestnaught ---> Possibly Spikes

I understand wanting to do some damage to the damn fairies upon a switch in, cuz they piss me off too lol, but Scizor will take care of Sylveon easy.

Yes, I know the standard set is LO. Most run Sub/Sludge Bomb/Focus Blast/Shadow Ball, sorry if that was confusing. Pretty sure the Speeds Ev's allow me to outspeed CroCune and some other stuff I can't remember xD But thanks, I'll either change it to that spread or make it fully defensive. And I just realized I made a typo on Chesnaught's Ev's. Hooray.

Oh and quick question, what does the Speed Ev's let you outspeed?

I would definatly recomend either changing Latias to Latios and/or Roost > Healing wish. You are running a bulky Scizor with roost so having it at a healthier amount of hp shouldnt be too hard. You also can very easily lose to a well played Keldeo because you have nothing that wants to come in on it and take a burn. Having a Lati with roost will allow you to switch into most Keldeos multiple times and roost off the damage. This also allows you do deal with sludge wave Landorus much better, as you can roost off the damage. I would also reccomend changin the Heatran ev spread to 248 HP/ 192 SpD/ 68 Spe. This allows you to switch into stealth rocks 1 more time, and allows you to speed creep Suicune or Mega Venusaur so you can either Ko them or Taunt.

That was my original Heatran spread. :P

But Suicune doesn't really scare me, as taking a Scald on the off chance I overpredict won't help. I'll mainly switch to Latias or Raikou. Latias and Raikou also beat Mega Venusaur.

I mean nothing on your really have nothing that wants to take a burn, so most people will just clicks Scald when they get it in on Heatran or Scizor. Putting roost on lati will allow you to switch into scald and roost off a burn if they do get it on you.

True, and I don't really have many sweepers besides Landorus-T and/or Raikou, so I get your point. I'll put Roost over Healing Wish.
