The New and Improved <~Intimidator~>

Here is my latest improved team. I don't know why, but during about 75% of my battles on the Ladder, people just leave the room...maybe they're intimidated by my team? I seriously don't know...but anyway here's my team at a glance:

He hasn't gotten statused ONCE. So don't tell me to put a Lum Berry or Focus Sash on him instead of Scope Lens (I love CH HAX!!!).
Here's some math on Machamp: Dynamicpunch + No Guard = ANNOYING!!! Math aside, the moveset on my Machamp helps me deal with most common leads for super effective damage.
He has Bullet Punch for priority. Stone Edge + Scope Lens = Good chance of CH =] (sorry for bringing more Math into this...), and finally, he has Earthquake to take out those ever so common Metagross leads who choose to hold an Occa Berry, and it helps against Jirachi leads too =]

Modest Gyarados?! Yeah, I wanted to try something different for a change. I use Scope Lens for his Item here, because, I love CH HAX!!! Haha =] Anyway, I was getting sick of all the Physical Gyarados out there, so I thought, "why not start working on a SPECIAL Gyarados?" and thus HE was born. With max Speed and max Special Attack, he works wonders on many common threats such as Lucario, Scizor, Heatran, Salamence, Forretress, and other Gyarados just to name a few. And with a decent 240 Special Attack, he takes good chunks of health out of other pokemon not mentioned above. He also contributes to my Gyaravire combo, which you can read on below.

The 2nd part of my Gyaravire combo (obviously) I used the Mixed-Sweeper set recommended by buddythesquirrel, I'm still relying on his Motor Drive boost to nab some extra Speed for a possibly epic sweep, he then can procede to deal super effective damage on 10 out of the 17 types.
"This makes Expert Belt the ideal item choice." (quote from Smogon).
Not much else to say, except thank you bloo for the help on why I should use Mix-Vire =]

I use my buddy Toxicroak here to absorb water attacks from all over the place, and then most of the time I use Substitute, and then Focus Punch, and if they break my sub and I know I won't be getting any more up, I hit them for a last bit of damage with Sucker Punch. Poison Jab is there for STAB, and it also takes care of Breloom quite well when I have a sub up, that way Spore won't hit me and I can hit back with Poison Jab =]

This is my own spin on the CM Cune. I use Calm Mind when I need some boosts, Icy Wind to ensure I'm faster so I can use Rest quicker (it's also good against 4X weak Dragons), Water pulse for 20% chance to Confuse them while I set up, and Rest for greatly needed HP recovery. Not much else to say, except 8 Speed EVs to outrun others with 85 base speed Pokemon who might only invest 4 EVs. Plus it can win some stall wars. And one last thing, sorry guys, I won't be changing this set, I like the game for fun, not just so it can freakin win ALL the time...

And finally, the strong Fire Attacker of my team. I use Pursuit if I can correctly predict their switch, and from there I can follow up with Flamethrower or Hidden Power Ground for strong damage, or I can just use Sucker Punch to finish off Pokes who are either super effected by it, or just low on HP. Fixed EVs, my bad, I had the right spread on my team, just copied wrong. Nuff said =]

*tries to refrain from puking* Okay, first of all, Gyarados is definitely NOT a special attacker. If you're gonna take 60 base Sp. Atk over 125 base Atk then just use a different Pokemon. Gyarados, however, is an excellent physical attacker. For late game, I recommend Flaildos. There's several good sets on Smogon.

The next obvious thing is that Scope Lens is BANNED in competitive play. Put Leftovers/Liechi berries on Machamp and Gyarados.

Physical Electivire is walled way too easily, use Mixvire:

Mild Electivire@Expert Belt
36 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- HP Grass/Ice
- Cross Chop

Next, if you're going to run a Mixdoom, give him some attack EVs. Here's a spread copied again from Smogon, run it with a mild nature: 80 Atk / 212 SpA / 216 Spe.

Your Suicune set, although different, simply won't hold up against other Pokemon since it's a weaker set and it's countered just as easily as stronger Suicune. I recommend this set if you want to win stall wars:

Bold Suicune@Leftovers
248 HP/252 Def/8 Spe
- Surf
- Calm Mind
- Roar
- Ice Beam / Hidden Power Electric / Rest

Hope that helps.

I'm going to suggest that you make Electivire a mixed sweeper if you intend on using him. I say this for a couple of reasons. Think about what Pokemon tend to switch-in on Electivire often. Those Pokemon are Hippowdon, Forretress, Donphan, Celebi, Bronzong, etc. All of those Pokemon tend to invest on more Physical Defense than Special Defense. This means that you can hit them harder with your Special Attacks if you make Electivire a mixed sweeper. In addition to that, Electivire will be able to kill Physical Walls such as Skarmory with a ThunderBolt, and Celebi with Flamethrower, making it easier for Gyarados to sweep.

Electivire @ Life Orb/Expert Belt
Nature: Mild
EVs: 36 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe
Ability: Volt Absorb
- ThunderBolt
- Hidden Power Grass
- Flamethrower
- Cross Chop

Electivire's STAB move of Thunderbolt allows it to do significant damage to many of physical Electivire's counters such as Skarmory and the like. Flamethrower deals with Pokemon such as Metagross, Bronzong, etc. all of which have an easier time against the current Physical version of your Electivire. Hidden Power Grass is for Pokemon such as Swampert and Donphan, both of which love switching-in on Electivire, only to be killed by HP Grass. Dragonite, and Salamence. Cross Chop allows Electivire to beat what its special attacks cannot overcome such as the Special Defense behemoth Blissey. Expert Belt is usuually the better item on this set since Electivire will be worn down easily by Life Orb recoil, and the potential for Stealth Rock and sandstorm damage means that Electivire won't last very long. Electivire also has amazing coverage meaning Expert Belt works well with its moves. Life Orb can be used if you want Electivire to have a little bit more power, however.

Now, Gyarados is not going to be dealing much damage with a Special Attacking movepool. Gyarados functions best as a a physical sweeper. With that Special set you are using, you are alled by Blissey, Snorlax, and will not be dealing much damage to most other Pokemon as well. Dragon Dance Gyarados is much more of a threat then the Special Set you are using as after a DD, Gyarados can dish out tons of damage, nearly 2HKOing most of the Pokemon that come in.

For those reasons, I suggest using a Physical Version of Gyarados with Dragon Dance, Waterfall, Stone Edge, Ice Fang, Leftovers, 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP, Adamant. Dragon Dance is there to boost Gyarados' great Attack stat and rather good Speed, making it a scary Physical threat. Waterfall + Stone Edge + Ice Fang provide excellent coverage allowing Gyarados to hit a variety of Pokemon. Stone Edge is for Flying-types and Ice Fang hits those Grass-types such as Breloom and Celebi who would otherwise wall you.

Over Houndoom, why not use another Fire-type such as Heatran. Houndoom is weak to Stealth Rock limiting the amount of times it can switch-in. Heatran is neutral to Stealth Rock and can dish out damage just as well as Houndoom. Heatran also has Flash Fire and a crazy Special Attack stat, meaning it can deal out tons of damage with a powerful Fire Blast. Heatran also has much more resistances then Houndoom, meaning Heatran has more chances to switch-in on resisted attacks. Overall, I'd say use Heatran over Houndoom with Fire Blast, Earth Power, HP Ice, Explosion, Naive, 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 6 HP, Choice Scarf. Since your team lacks a Steel-type, Heatran gives you a Steel-type while giving you a strong revenge killer with Choice Scarf. Currently, you are going to have trouble switching-in on Dragon-type attacks because you lack a Steel-type, and with Heatran, you have a better switch-in to said Dragon attacks.

I'd also consider something like Scizor over Toxicroak. I don't see why your team needs to have a Water absorber when you have Suicune to take Water-type attacks well and Electivire to scare away most Water-types as well. Scizor will give you another Steel-type capable of switching-in on Dragon attacks and helping Gyarados sweep by getting rid of Pokemon that hinder a Gyarados sweep such as Starmie, Scarf Latias, and Celebi. A Choice Band set with U-turn, Bullet Punch, SuperPower, Pursuit, 248 HP, 252 Attack, 8 Speed, Adamant should wrk well on this team for the above reasons.

For Suicune, I suggest making it an offensive version as your team is more suited to an offensive style. In addition to that, Gyarados can prove quite troublesome if it manages to get of a Dragon Dance on your Houndoom. Once it gets a Dragon Dance off, it has the potential to sweep your team with Stone Edge and Earthquake combined with Waterfall, which hits most of your team super effectively. You can simply fix this by giving Suicune HP Electric. Try a set of Calm Mind, Ice Beam, Surf, HP Electric, Life Orb / Leftovers, 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe, Timid. Suicune functions well as a tank, but an often overlooked role it can play is offensive; not only does it have the element of surprise, it can sweep easily enough with decent Speed, a high base 90 Special Attack, and almost impeccable coverage with Surf, Ice Beam, and Hidden Power Electric. After a single Calm Mind, Suicune can become a powerful sweeper given its excellent Special Attack and wide coverage of its move set. If you want a bulkier spread, you can opt for 172 HP / 120 SpA / 216 Spe with a Timid nature. This set works great with the Scizor I suggested above who is capable of getting rid of some of Suicune's counters such as Blissey and can scout for counters with U-turn.

thank you bloo =] i will be posting my new revised team in the future, until then, i will be testing some of ur ideas, and keep a look out for my next post =]
