The new offensive core

The idea behind this team was that it was offensive and could cover each other. It was also my offensive practise team that Twist of Fate made together with me. And a great team it is. After the Stealth Rocks are down, the barrage of sweepers is hard to resist. Especially if there is always a possibility to switch one of the other teammembers in.

And about the title, I have seen an offensive team that was considered as one of the best offensive teams that consisted of Garchomp, Lucario, Gyarados and Gengar, well I have something that really work together very well.

So, to summarize:

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Naïve - Levitate
136 Attack - 120 Sp.Attack - 252 Speed
~ Stealth Rock
~ Explosion
~ Fire Blast
~ Psychic

With Deoxys-s moved to ubers, our choice of fast Stealth Rockers was limited to Azelf and Aerodactyl. The choice was Azelf and a great choice it was.

Stealth Rock is normally my first option, but these days most offensive teams start with Infernape and friends. Aerodactyl taunts me, Infernape Fake Outs. They all forget one thing, I can choose to attack. With Psychic I can 2HKO both Infernape and Aerodactyl. After that they think I use the sweeper Azelf so they send something else in, I use Stealth Rock and Explode. There goes two of their pokes already.

Fire Blast is of course for Bronzong and Metagross Trick leads. Getting a Choice item isn't as bad as I thought. I shall explain why not for all three items:
Choice-
Scarf gives me another very fast sweeper. Of course, the attack slots are limited but it is a great revenge killer against another Scarf pokes.
Specs on something as fast as Azelf is another great item, Azlef now have the potential to be a very strong special force
Band gives me a very powerfull Explosion. Anything that isn't immune to normal moves will be either KO'd or heavy damaged.

Salamence @ Leftovers
Jolly - Intimidate
252 HP - 80 Defense - 176 Speed
~ Dragon Dance
~ Fire Blast
~ Earthquake
~ Outrage

Bulky DD-mence as you can see. Why bulky? Because the team is very scared of Fighting moves. Sure, Gengar is immune to that, but if he is gone then I am in trouble.

About the EV's, 176 Speed gives me the speed I need to outspeed 90 base speed with a + speed nature and in particulary Lucario. The moves give me great coverage and there have been many Skarmory switches that took an unexpected Fire Blast.

Outrages power is needed, but needs carefull planning. Being locked into Outrage is not a great idea when there are metal pokes with an Ice attack still able to breathe.

dpmba473.png

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Jolly - Snow Cloak
4 HP - 252 Attack - 252 Speed
~ Ice Shard
~ Ice Fang
~ Earthquake
~ Stone Edge

With the new Skymin Twist of Fate believed that any offensive team would need at least one or two ways to deal with that. I admit, he was very right. Stone Edge and Earthquake is already a great combination. And together with two Ice STAB attacks Mamoswine becomes even deadlier. Jolly to at least tie with other 80 base-speed pokes. Ice Shard for weak and frail sweepers and in particulary Skymin.

dpmba485.png

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Naïve - Flash Fire
4 HP - 252 Sp.Attack - 252 Speed
~ Earth Power
~ Fire Blast
~ Explosion
~ Dragon Pulse

Scarftran add some needed resistances. Because the basic spread for Scarftran is 20HP - 252Sp.Attack - 236Speed, Twist of Fate thought I would need full speed. This way, I am faster than most Heatran. The other basic option was Hp Ice. However, most pokes switch out if I swithc in Heatran, and to maximize the chance that I deal some damage I use Dragon Pulse. Only resisted by Steel types, Dragon Pulse is a great move in the early stages of the battle.

dpmba094.png

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Timid - Levitate
4 HP - 252 Sp.Attack - 252 Speed
~ Trick
~ Thunderbolt
~ Focus Blast
~ Shadow Ball

Choice Scarf Gengar is a great revenge killer. The attack choices are obvious. Timid nature give me everything I need to dispatch anything around that speed level. If I know they use a stall team, then I don't need Choice Scarf so I trick it of. This way I cripple one of their pokemon while still being faster than their whole team.

dpmba448.png

Lucario @ Life Orb
Jolly - Inner Focus
4 HP - 252 Attack - 252 Speed
~ Extremespeed
~ Sword Dance
~ Close Combat
~ Crunch/Ice Punch

One of the best late game sweepers ever. Late game all poke off my foe are damaged, that is what I hope for. Lucario's time has finally come. Late game it is sometimes possible to rampage without Sword Dance, and right from the start if Stealth Rocks are laid down, then Lucario can sweep from there.

Conclusion:
It is a very offensive team. They work together very well. I think most of the pokemon in the OU tier are covered or can be revenge killed. There are however, two flaws I have found by battling with this team.

They are called Cresselia and Cursepert. Cresselia can be handled if Lucario has Crunch, but then I lose coverage against alot of populair Lucario counters. Cursepert is just something I have to live with. It is really annoying but I guess I have to explode on it before it gets to much Curses.

I would like to see some advice on how to handle Cresselia. But understand that something like Vaporeon with Toxic doesn't fit in the team. Sure it can handle Cursepert but isn't so much offensive as I need. Anyway, Rate away.

I think you could go Crunch on Lucario without too much worry. You have Mamo to deal with studd like DD Mence and it will also deal with Gliscor. The general pressure of the rest of your team will probably be enough to keep Gliscor at bay, just dont set Luke up too early thats all. as for Cursepert the same principle applies, I guess you could stick Energy Ball on Gengar if you wanted too. It would at least have the ability to dent Cresselia with Shadow Ball and OHKO Cursepert with Energy Ball, you could easily stick energy ball on top of trick if it becomes too much of an issue, I mean Scarf Gar worked fine before Platinum right ;)

Theres not really too much else to say. I would say you might want to try Mix Mamo with Blizzard / Ice Beam > Ice Fang for the ability to hit Hippowdon / Skarm harder etc... but thats really personal preference, but it may help you keep the momentum going your way in a battle. When I play offense I try to put at least two "surprises" on there to keep the opponant on his toes. Lulling them into a false sense of security. I think that may help. I don't really think there is much more to say except for congratulating you on an excellent offensive team. It looks awesome :D

P.S. Like you said putting a bulky Toxicer will give you the edge against Cursepert or Cresselia, they could possibly go over Gengar who seems to be the least sure of a place on your team. This could make you lose momentum however. If they become a huge issue it might be worth trying out a Vappy or maybe your own 'Pert to deal with them.

Thanks for the great reply Goldfan.

I can always try Energy Ball over Trick. At the moment I haven't used Trick very often. The Blizzard move is also good to try once. Ice Fang is mainly there for a better STAB against slower bulkier dragons. Blizzard can also help to let the momentum stay with me so I will certainly try those things out.

There are a few issues why I don't like the idea of a bulky toxic user. If I replace Gengar then I lose defensive coverage. On paper Gengar is probably the poke that is the only that doesn't fit, but when playing the team, you will rely heavy on Gengars ability to switch in and make switches.

I really appreciate your rate. It gives me some ideas of what I can try to keep the momentum flowing. And if I run into many Swamperts one day, I will try vappy.
