SM OU The Night King used Icicle Spear! It Hit 1 time! It's Super Effective!

GoT anyone?!

Hey smogon! I'm a long time reader and have been playing Pokemon OU on and off for about 8 years now. I really wanted to make a fun hail team that included my favorite Pokemon, but can also be somewhat competitively viable. Ice types are the worst defensively, and hail is a hard weather to work with, but I love a challenge! I read a lot of guides on hail teams, including RMT's of Ktütverde and -Snow I'm not sure how to describe the playstyle of this team, and you're probably looking at this team like WTF? I was able to get this team to 1608 elo on showdown, but can't take it any further. I would like to keep M-aboma/a-ninetales/cloyster, but am open to reading your suggestions on what to change.

Edit: THANK YOU VictiniSwag for helping me edit this team to be a lot better while still keeping my fav mons in there!

Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Thunder
- Defog

CS Latios is a great revenge killer and provides speed control for my team. He also clears entry hazards with Defog which aids in a Cloyster sweep. Psyschock for a secondary stab and hits Chansey harder. Thunder is for celesteela and water types like Fini. Standard EV spread so he hits hard and is fast. His typing provides great resistances that threaten Aboma and Cloyster, like fire, electric, fighting, and a ground immunity is always nice.

abomasnow-mega.gif

Abomasnow-Mega (M) @ Abomasite
Ability: Snow Warning
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Earthquake
- Ice Shard

I love this guy. (Ktut, Snow, may I join the Aboma fan club?) Yes, he has so many weaknesses, but his offensive typing is great and he's actually quite bulky. With an AV, he can take a hit and dish a huge amount of damage back. He also eats up any water, electric, grass, and ground type attacks. He's not afraid of Zygarde or Greninja locked into HydroPump, and can take a DarkPulse at full HP (no flinch plz). Blizzard for strong STAB and because he get's auto-hail, Giga Drain for healing, Ice Shard for revenge killing and because he's so slow, and HP Fire to hit Scizor/Ferrothorn switch-ins. However, Earthquake is another option over HP Fire to smack a heatran switch-in. 248 HP EV provides him a lot of bulk, but still puts his HP at an odd number for SR, max SpA to hit as hard as he can with his STABS, and 8 Ev's to give Ice shard a little more power.

cloyster.gif

The Night King (Cloyster) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Ice Shard

Cloyster is probably my favorite pokemon. He's the most predictable sweeper, but is dangerous if the opposing team is not prepared for him. I like to use him as a late game sweeper when all the bulky steels and water types are gone, or if they are heavily weakened, and when hazards are gone from the field. Focus sash to ensure he can always pull off a shell smash, especially when AV is gone, and because his SpD is crap. Shell Smash/Icicle Spear/Rockblast are the bread n butter of the set and provides great coverage. Ice shard for revenge killing, and at +2, has a chance to OHKO Scarf Latios after SR damage. Standard sweeper spread for maximum damage and speed, after a shell smash he can out-speed up to base 110 scarfers.

toxapex.gif

Toxapex (F) @ Black Sludge Shed Shell
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic/Toxic Spikes
- Recover
- Haze

Thank god for Toxapex. Ktut said it best: He's like Tentacruel on steroids (or something like that lol). Provides resistances to fire, steel, and fighting moves that ruin my team. In return, M-Aboma can soak up any ground and electric attacks aimed at her. She's my switch-in to Char y, Keldeo, and Greninja, and Volcarona. Standard EV spread and moveset. Haze to stop set-up sweepers and scald for that lovely burn. I've been back and forth between toxic or T-spikes, but I find being able to badly poison your opponent right away much more satisfying. Shed Shell so I can escape Dugtrio and Magma Storm.

heatran.gif

Heatran @ Groundium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 212 HP / 44 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic

I originally had Camerupt in this slot, and while it had some advantages, Heatran is just a better pokemon in general. With Magma Storm I can trap Toxapex and kill it with TR. Heatran also provides great resistances against fire/steel/fairy/poison that threatens Aboma, while he soaks up water and ground attacks aimed at him. Toxic to spread poison when I'm predicting a switch. SR to provide entry hazards for my team.

celesteela.gif

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 132 Def / 124 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Celesteela replaced Skarmory on my old team. Along with Heatran, Toxapex, and Latios, she provides a great defensive backbone for Aboma and Cloyster. Celesteela also solves my Tapu Lele problem and can take a few hits from Greninja as well. EV spread allows Celesteela to be a great mixed wall. Leech seed protect is an annoying, but deadly combo. Flamethrower to hit steels and grass types that are immune to leech seed.

Threats:

-CB Tyranitar/DD Tyranitar

-SD Bisharp

So after helping you edit this team, I was really still doubting its legitimacy, but I wanted to make it as good as possible and keep your favorite Pokémon. But I have to say, this team is truly viable. They synergy is there and you don't lose to common stuff. In addition, this team is very fun!

I definitely recommend anybody that sees this team gives it a try! Good luck with the team, trantastic!
