Ok, so I'm not really a good OU battler (hence why i take all my EV's from Smogon's analysis', which btw i could use some help with. tell me if there is a better EV spread for a pokemon). I'm better at UU (although i suck at both). But I wanted to try a team based on a LeadKiss with Mirror Move. Yeah, Mirror Move. So here we are:
Togekiss (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/252 Spd/4 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Air Slash
-Ominous Wind Roost
- Mirror Move
- Aura Sphere
A gimmicky lead, yes, but it HAS been pretty effective. Mirror Move can usually make up for the lack of SR, although I try using ominous wind on Azelf leads first, fearing a taunt or trick. If i get the boost hax, they will most likely switch to a ghost, and since Rotom-A and Gengar are the most common,, I switch to machamp. (I am open to removing Ominous Wind, as I know its a horrible move and i shouldnt rely on the hax, but absolutely NO to switching Mirror Move; Its a good gimmick that is really effective when people dont expect it [read: most of the time]).
Here is what I do to common leads:
Azelf: OWind, hope for a boost. if they dont Trick or taunt, Air Slash them. If they do, switch.
Machamp: Air Slash
Swampert: Aura Sphere, then Mirror Move his SRs. Then Air Slash him to death.
Metagross: Aura Sphere. If they attack, switch. If they SR, MM it then switch.
Roserade: Absorb Sleep Powder with Lum, then MM it back.
Uxie: see azelf
Heatran: see metagross
Aerodactyl: Aura Sphere for 2HKO. Although switch if i survive an opening move Rock Slide.
Jirachi: MM. If it tricks, i trick him back. If it uses Iron Head, switch to Gyara.
Infernape: Take the FO, then MM. Hopefully I get SR or U-Turn.
Ninjask: MM. I get a Sub, or save PP if they protect. Air Slash it.
Hippowdon: see swampert
Tyranitar: Aura Sphere
Smeargle: Take the spore or Trick and MM.
Starmie: switch
Synergy: Electric- Mamoswine; Ice - Empoleon, somewhat Gyara; Rock - Machamp, Empolelon
---
Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/72 Atk/96 Def/184 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Bounce
Standard BulkyGyara. It hasnt really been that effective, but that's due to the lack of variety in opposing teams so far. (New account, i am relatively low on the ladder). Should I switch Bounce to Stone Edge or EQ? I've noticed Bounce is a really bad option for Machamp, as no guard ignores the invulnerability turn. Bounce is also giving me trouble against Rotom-A and Zapdos.
Intimidate helps him switch on neutral and resisted hits, most specifically Close Combats, like a pro. Taunt shuts down phazers like Swampert and Skarmory, as well as opposing stat-uppers, more than likely giving me a free DD.
Synergy: Electric - Mamo; Rock - Machamp, Empoleon
---
Machamp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Low Kick
- Payback
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
I find Guts Restalk to be a very good and suprising set, especially for Rotom-A's that want to WoW me. Cross Chop would be an option if you can sell me how its worth it with the bad accuracy and PP. Any non-ghost (besides Crobat =/) on the field when Sleep Talk calls on Low Kick will take a pretty good chunk of damage.
He is a very good paralysis absorber, as it guarantees payback will have max damage. He can then later rest off the para, fully heal itself, and still keep guts active for 2 more turns.
Synergy: Flying - Empoleon, somewhat Mamo; Psychic - Azelf, Empoleon, somewhat Togekiss;
---
Empoleon (M) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 24 Def/232 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Substitute
- Surf
- Ice Beam
One of my favorite sweepers. Agilities late game, then subs until Petaya berry and Torrent activate. Surf is obvious, while ice beam was my choice since Azelf has GK. But i switched GK on Azelf for HP Ground after realizing Heatran completly walled it. So now i dont know wheter I should keep Ice Beam or not, as of course, Mence is gone, but Dragonite and grasses are filling the space, so idk.
Synergy: Electric - Mamoswine; Ground - Gyarados, Azelf, Togekiss; Fighting - Gyarados, Azelf
---
Mamoswine (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 Atk
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
This was orignally a LO Gengar, but I noticed my immense Electric type (mostly Jolteon and Zapdos) weakness. He takes on Outrage-locked D-Nite and Flygon. He can somewhat take on Non-scarfed heatran (which are becoming more common) and magnezone.
Stone Edge is mainly for Gyara switchins, and full health zapdos that wont die to Ice Shard. Superpower gets T-Tar and weakened Skarmory that i dont feel like gambalng on with Stone Edge.
Earthquake takes a chunk out of everything else, especially metagross and non-scarf jirachi.
Synergy: Water - Empoleon, Gyarados; Steel - Empoleon, Gyarados; Fighting - Azelf, Gyarados; Fire - Gyarados, somewhat Togekiss
---
Azelf @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ground]
If you couldnt tell, a contributing strategy of mine is to take out blissey with Machamp and Mamo, and attack on the remaining team's generally weaker special bulk.
He NP's if a switch is likely or guaranteed, then he takes out 1-2 pokemon (MAYBE a whole team that is unprepared) before LO puts him in priority KO range.
Otherwise he is fast and strong enough to attack outright without any boosts.
Synergy: Dark - Empoleon, Machamp; Ghost - Togekiss; Bug - gyarados, Machamp, Togekiss
---
Well thats my team. Im positive it has its flaws, which hopefully you can help me with. Im open really to changing anything (but reiterating that i will not change MM on LeadKiss) besides removing Empoleon. anything else (moves, EV's, pokemon other than LeadKiss/Empoleon) I am 100% willing to change with convincing.
