Forgive me for the lack of detailed explanations for my pokemon, my strategy is usually just to pick out Pokemon I like and that don't suck and use them on a team without knowing which specific Pokemon they're good at countering.
That or just cover all the types like I did in Black
Dororo (Greninja) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Spikes
Greninja's probably my favorite of the new starters, even more so after discovering his awesome HA. I guess here what I'm going for is type coverage/sweeping + Spikes?
Mako (Garchomp) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Fire Fang
- Outrage
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
It's just a Swords Dance set I guess with some incentive for my opponents to not want to hit him with physical attacks. Plus Earthquake
Navi (Togekiss) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDef
Calm Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Air Slash
- Aura Sphere
- Roost
Paraflinch Togekiss has been something I've always liked. Thunderwave for the paralysis and slowing down stuff, Air Slash for that 60% Flinch, Aura Sphere for coverage, and Roost for recovery
Cholesterol (Reuniclus) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 192 HP / 64 Def / 252 SpAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Speed
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Trick Room
- Focus Blast
I thought I'd take Reuniclus for a spin because Trick Room Reuniclus sounded really fun. Psychic for STAB, Shadow Ball and Focus Blast for coverage, and Trick Room to take advantage of that Quiet Nature and 0 Speed IV
Yoko (Scizor) @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 217 SpDef
Adamant Nature
- U-Turn
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
Not really sure what to say about this one. Mega Technician Scizor.
Danny (Jolteon) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Speed
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power (Dragon)
- Volt Switch
Specseon I guess
AS8W-WWWW-WWW4-X62J If you wanna see this team in action
Also, I've been training a few other Pokemon I'm considering switching into my team, if there's any you think I should swap in, or if you wanna rate these guys too, please do
Sylvern (Noivern) @ [Item TBD]
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Speed
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Substitute
- Flamethrower
- Hurricane
Noivern's probably my favorite Gen VI Pokemon and I really want to find a spot for one on my team if I can. I'm honestly not sure what role he'd play, but this seemed like a solid set to me.
Clara (Whimsicott) @ Leftovers?
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Speed
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Encore
- Stun Spore
- Giga Drain/Leech Seed/Taunt
Favorite Grass-type, I want to see if getting a Fairy-typing improved it at all. I trained one in my White and Black 2 runs, and I'd love to get a Prankster-user like her on my team. The Moonblast is for STAB and Dragon-killing, Encore because I've seen a lot of Whimsicott sets with that move, Stun Spore for the paralysis I guess, and I'm undecided on the last move.
Thor (Galvantula) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compoundeyes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Speed
Timid Nature
- Thunder
- Bug Buzz
- Volt Switch/Energy Ball
- Sticky Web
I really like Galvantula too, and this was a interesting set I found. Compoundeyes + Thunder seems really appealing, And the Focus Sash + Sticky Web would be a good thing to open with, with Volt Switch to help with the getaway/switchout
Well, I guess that's it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
