The Power of Burning Flames. (Hyper Offensive Sun Team)

Introduction To Team:
Welcome to my first Generation Six OU Team! Sun has been my favorite type of team for quite some time, as it holds quite a few of my favorite Pokemon, and Generation Six didn't change this fact! Yes, the nerf to sun is quite annoying at times, but it also means that a successful sun team requires more skill and isn't just going to be "Counter this with this", so I'm making the best of what I've got! And so, I introduce you to my team: The Power of Burning Flames!

Detailed Explanation Of Team:

Ninetales (F) @ Heat Rock
Ability: Drought
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 HP
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sunny Day

Ninetales is my usual lead, and I've chosen to make her a special attacker instead of the typical defensive set. I have two reasons for doing this; her defenses are fairly frail as it is, and her longevity is not completely vital due to my choice of running Charizard-Y as well. I run Sunny Day on her to allow myself to set up my sun again without having to switch in the event of a weather war, and Will-O-Wisp is to allow myself to weaken physical threats that I feel I would be unable to OHKO otherwise. Will-O-Wisp also often allows for a safer switch to another Pokemon. Fire Blast is her strongest STAB move, and Solar Beam allows for decent Coverage being able to hit Water, Rock, and Ground types for super-effective damage.

Charizard (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Solar Power / Drought
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 HP
- Fire Blast
- Air Slash
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast

With sun only lasting five turns, or eight with the use of Heat Rock, I decided I should use a second Drought Pokemon for a bit of a safety net, and Charizard fit the bill perfectly! Charizard is a beast in this generation. Solar Power allows for strong Special Attack while out of mega form, allowing him to destroy most Pokemon that don't resist him. Once the sun vanishes, I can Mega Evolve him for a boost in stats to make up for the loss of Solar Power, and regain my important sun, then continue blasting away at my opponent with his powerful Special Attack.

Venusaur (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Spa / 4 HP
- Growth
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder

Ah, Venusaur. One of the most well known, and most abused Chlorophyll Sweepers, and he's no less powerful in this generation! I've chosen a fairly standard set for Venusaur, with the variation of Sleep Powder. I chose to use Sleep Powder over Hidden Power because of it's ability to grant an easy set-up. Now, once the sun is gone, he does lose much of his sweeping ability, but I find him to be a powerful sweeper none-the-less. Unless my opponent is able to OHKO him when the sun is over, Giga Drain allows for a continuous sweep by healing up any damage taken by the speed loss.

Talonflame (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wing
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 HP
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-Turn
- Tailwind

With my team being hyper-offensive, I decided I needed a good revenge-killer, and Talonflame is one Pokemon I was excited to try! Under the sun, Flare Blitz is a powerful ability, gaining STAB and a power boost from the Choice Band, but the main attack of this set is Brave Bird. The recoil does hurt quite a bit, but a Priority Brave Bird backed by STAB and Choice Band is nothing to scoff at! I changed the "usual" EV spread to a pure offensive one, erasing much of the HP EVs usually seen with her, because longevity is not a must on this team. She is on the team to come on, dish out some massive blows, then get back out or sacrifice. Tailwind was chosen as a situational move, giving myself the opportunity to out-speed future threats if I feel the need to do so, and easily being able to do so given that Tailwind would become Priority.

Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 HP
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake

Dragonite, one of my all-time favorite Pokemon. In this team, I had little answer to opposing Fire or Dragon types, which found my team a spot for this powerful beast. Using Multiscale, he is easily able to switch in on attacks OR gain an essentially free set-up. Once he uses a Dragon Dance or two, the sweep begins, and what a sweep he is capable of. Outrage is in for his strongest STAB move, Fire Punch for synergy with the sun, and Earthquake for coverage. I see this guy being a staple of my team.

Excadrill (F) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 HP
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Shadow Claw

Given my team's unfortunate weakness to Stealth Rocks, I knew I needed a rapid spinner, as well as a bit more coverage to opposing Fire types. Excadrill was the perfect choice in my mind. To go along with my hyper-offensive mindset, I chose an offensive rapid-spin set for her. With Mold Breaker, she's able to dish out some massive damage to a much larger selection of threats, such as Gengar and other Pokemon with Levitate. Rock Slide and Shadow Claw allow for coverage for this powerful addition to my team. As an added note, Air Balloon was chosen to allow for easier switches. Given I use a fair few fire types, if I feel a Ground move is about to be used, I can switch in Excadrill to remove any rocks/spikes that have been set out, or switch in to counter.

Final Notes:
And there you have it! My first attempt at a Generation Six OU Team. I do hope it's been able to impress some of you, and I look forward to the competitive battling scene with my team at my side. As always, feel free to rate and criticize, as I'm always open ears to anyone who feels they could better my team. Thank you for taking the time to check out my team!
