Hey Blazing here with another VGC RMT. I know that it's a little early for the new season, but I wanted to get started as early as possible. Anyway, off to the team.
--->
@ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 196 HP / 132 Def / 140 SpA / 4 SpD / 36 Spe
Modest Nature
Psychic
Protect
Shadow Ball
Moonblast
The first member of my team and my Mega of choice. While Mega Gardevoir isn't the best Mega out there (and I understand why) I believe it has a lot of potential and can be amazing if played right. Anyway, I went with an offensive set to give my team a sense of offensive pressure. The EVs are specifically meant to allow Gardevoir (Mega or not) to take a hit from Talonflame's CB Brave Bird and KO it back with Shadow Ball after recoil damage. Speaking of which, I chose Shadow Ball and Moonblast as they provide near perfect neutral coverage allowing Mega Gardevoir to deal with practically any foe (the only Pokemon who resists this combo is Pyroar, who is rarely seen). The SpA EVs give it a good deal of power which, coming from a base 165 Special Attack stat, allows Mega Gardevoir to deal with a lot of threats and deal some major damage. The speed EVs allow it to outspeed Malmar and max speed Tyranitar and hit them hard with Moonblast. While not as powerful as Choice Specs or as fast as Choice Scarf, Mega Gardevoir does allow a lot of freedom to choose between moves which prevents her from being set up on. On a side note, I picked Trace as Gardevoir's ability because there are some situations where I don't want to Mega evolve and just attack with standard Gardevoir while taking advantage of the copied ability.
@ Safety Goggles
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 164 SpA / 12 SpD / 60 Spe
Modest Nature
Thunderbolt
Protect
Will-O-Wisp
Overheat
I needed a good Steel counter to help Gardevoir out due to her Steel weakness. Enter Rotom-Heat. I went with Jeudy's EV spread because it provided a good balance of offense and defense, which I felt was best for Rotom-H. Aside from that, Rotom-H opperates like any other Rotom-H you set and is great at dealing with threats like Mega Mawile and Talonflame.
@ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Atk / 92 Def / 76 SpD / 12 Spe
Impish Nature
Power Whip
Protect
Leech Seed
Thunder Wave
The third member of my team as well as the second member of the Fantasy core. At the suggestion of NinjaSyao, I replaced Aegislash with this guy and I must say that was one of the best decisions in my Pokemon career. This thing provides incredibly syrengy with Mega Gardevoir as it covers all her weakness with its typing and bulk. I went with a slightly odd spread for Ferrothorn as despite his defensive nature I wanted to keep the offensive presence up. The EVs not only give him a balance of power and defense, but also provide a little speed, which puts him at 42. Combined with Thunder Wave, this allows him to outspeed paralyzed foes and hit them with Power Whip and Leech Seed. Thunder Wave also provides some speed control for my team. This thing hurts. Rocky Helmet is used to add to the residue damage from contact moves.
@ Lum Berry
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 12 HP / 204 Atk / 4 Def / 36 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Dragon Claw
Protect
Rock Slide
Earthquake
The final member of the Fantasy core. While Salamence was great with providing fast coverage and Intimidate support, he just didn't possess the ability to deal with this team's weakness to Talonflame and, more specifically, Mega Charizard Y. As such, I swapped her out for Garchomp. While Garchomp isn't as fast due to the lack of Choice Scarf he's a little bulkier and provides incredible coverage to deal with Fire types. This is pretty much your standard moveset, although I used the EVs from Jeudy, the runner up winner at Worlds 2014 (you can see his spread here http://imoutoisland.blogspot.com/).
@ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 116 HP / 164 Atk / 116 Def / 76 SpD / 36 Spe
Adamant Nature
Ice Shard
Protect
Icicle Crash
Earthquake
One thing I noticed on my team was that it lacked spread moves as well as had a hard weakness to Talonflame. As such, I decided to use Mamoswine to remedy that. I went with VKoBall's spread (which you can find here http://nuggetbridge....d-place-report/) as it provided Mamoswine with some much needed bulk while still providing him with the power he's known for.
@ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 220 HP / 188 Def / 100 SpD
Bold Nature
Thunderbolt
Charm
Safeguard
Thunder Wave
The last member of my team. I needed a supporter for my team and the first who came to mind was Mewostic, who has great support moves to help my team. He provides Charm support for dealing with physical threats, Safeguard support for blocking status, and Thunder Wave support to provide some speed control. Thunderbolt is an interesting option that I added after reading Pyromaniac720's article (which you can read here http://nuggetbridge....-16-lcq-report/) and I must say it was a good move as it hits a great deal of Pokemon for good damage. Garchomp may be immune to Thunderbolt, but it doesn't matter as Meowstic would be Charming its attack away anyway. I added 4 Speed IVs to allow it to outspeed other Meowstic users and get Safeguard up before they tried to Thunder Wave anything.
Well that's my team. Please comment and give your critics on how well I did. Special credit goes to Pyromaniac720 of Nugget Bridge for providing a great tutorial video on teambuilding, which I took to heart.
