RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
Red Themed Team
This HOT team is based from the Awesome band, The Red Hot Chili Peppers!
All the pokemon in this team are of the colour Red.
At first this was meant to be a Monocolour team, but I have tested it out in the Wifi Standard 5th Gen OU tier and it has worked wonders so far :D
Im not the most experienced or skilled player but it peaked at 1317 points on Pokemon Online.
The strategy of this team is to be super offensive by forcing switches to get opportunities for Volcarona and Latias to to set up and Sweeping.
At a Glance:
Californication
Deoxys-S @ Focus Sash
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Thunder Wave
- Psyshock
Deoxys S is here to start setting up entry hazards ASAP.
Also, his taunt ability help stopping Stealth rocks from being thrown down by my opponent which helps Volcarona quite alot.
Thunder Wave here is really useful in crippling walls that my sweepers may face as well as to stop any scarf or specs politoads from getting away with a faster Hydro Pump.
Psyshock here is used because I can use Deoxys as a revenge killer if he survives the early game, revenge killing things like starmie, gengar and weakened bulky ghost types.
Fornicating other pokemon and leads is this guy's groove!
Snow ( Hey Oh )
Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick
[/COLOR]
I chose the choice scarf variant because it works so well especially with volt switch.
Trick here cripples pokemon such as jellicent, skarmory or chansey/blissey which are defensive threats to my team.
Also, rotom's volt switch helps get rid of water types such as vaporeon, jellicent and can scare away skarmory.
He kills off these defensive threats and celebrates Hey OH!
Can't Stop
Volcarona (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Fiery Dance
- Hidden Power [Rock]
The main sweeper of this team! Once a Quiver Dance routine is finished, this bug hits like a truck! Hitting the metagame hard with its super powered bug buzz, and fiery dance.
Hidden power rock here is used because I dont want Dragonites to come in and start Dragon Dancing on my volcarona.
It also hits gyarados quite nicely and should OHKO it with stealth rocks.
Once she starts, she CAN'T STOP!
The Flee
Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Brick Break
- Swords Dance
Scizor here is your Offensive Swords Dancer as I did not feel the need to have a specially defensive one if Heatran and Latias were already very specially defensive.
He comes in and cleans up late game with bullet punch or gets a swords dance up to start finishing off the opponent. I wouldnt say he is my sweeper, but my janitor!
He comes in, and Slaps the Bullet punch into the opponent!
He is the Bass of the band, giving that groove and funky to finish off the beat!
Chad
Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 228 SDef / 28 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Protect
- Toxic
Heatran here is to compliment Latias, Scizor and Rotom as he has resistances to Dark, Fire and Bug.
He plays a role to absorb special attacks and roar the threat away forcing a switch to let Latias or Volcarona to come in with an opportunity to set up and sweep.
He keeps the beat and help me predict rock solid switching rhythm for the rest of the sweepers to come into the timing to set up!
Attacks aimed at heatran:
Water, electric and Fighting attacks switch to Latias to setup and sweep.
Ground attacks switch to Volcarona to set up and sweep.
Steel and dark attacks switch to Scizor to set up and sweep.
Because of this reason, I do sometimes contemplate of making Scizor more specially defensive. Any thoughts on that?
Suck My Kiss
Latias (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 156 HP / 48 SAtk / 100 SDef / 204 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Finally my Latias, Shes so bulky that Ice Beams from Vaporeons, and shadow balls from reuniclus only do a maximum of 30% damage to her without a Calm mind.
She then recovers, calm minds (repeat) and sweep!
Lum Berry is here to prevent opposing pokemon from crippling her while she sets up or gets going.
Hidden Power fire is preferred to get rid of ferrothorn and scizor who seem to love switching into Latias.
Thats my RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS TEAM!
THanks and please rate and comment on this Monocolour team :)
Threat List coming soon!
