The Sky With Diamonds -OU Chlorophyll Aggro Team-

Lucy_in_the_Sky_with_Diamonds_by_MakinMagic.jpg

The Sky With Diamonds

Pokemons:
Crobat, Shiftry, Exeggutor, Tangrowth, Lucario, Heatran.

The team:

Crobat (Crobat)

Nature:Jolly

EVS:
4 ATK
252 HP
252 SPE

Items:
-Wide Lens/Choice Scarf/Choice Band/Heat Rock

Moves:
-Hypnosis
-Roost/Stealth Rock
-Sunny Day
-Air Slash

Function:Rather obviously, his main function in the team is to use Sunny Day. Roost is used to make Crobat more durable, although Stealth Rock can also be used. Crobat's extremely high speed stat allow it to outspeedd all non-scarfed OU leads, except Ninjask, but is superior to him (in this team), because of Hypnosis. Due to Hynosis low accuracy, I recommend Wide Lens, but Heat Rock is also useful for extending the time of Sunny Day.

Pinocchio (Shiftry)

Nature:Adamant
Ability:Chlorophyll

EVS:
4 HP
252 ATK
252 SPE

Items:
-Life Orb/Choice Scarf/Choice Band

Moves:
-Explosion
-Seed Bomb/Air Cutter
-Brick Break
-Sucker Punch

Function:Due to the enhanced speed caused by Chlorophyll, Shiftry is an effective physical sweeper and is able to OHKO and 2OHKO lots of OU pokemon tht are 2xweak/4xweak to its moves. Explosion is used for killing eventual walls that might appear in Shiftry's way, and, despite the fact that switching is sometimes needed to use it, is an extremely useful move to have in a pokemon. Seed Bomb and Sucker Punch are used for STAB damage, although the later is also used to kill speedy ghosts (*cof* Gengar *cof*) and Azelf.

Lucy (Jumpluff)

Nature:Jolly
Ability:Chlorophyll

EVS:
4 SPA
252 HP
252 SPE

Items:
-Heat Rock/Leftovers/Choice Scarf/Big Root/Choice Specs

Moves:
-Aerial Ace/Giga Drain/Aromatherapy
-Sleep Powder
-Leech Seed
-Sunny Day

Function:Jumpluff's purpose in life is to put the opponent to sleep. Although Sleep Powder's effectiveness is somewhat reduced in ladder matches, the ability to nullify an opponent's pokemon is greatly necessary in this team, and provides (most of the times) and easy kill for Shiftry/Porygon-Z/Tangrouth/Infernape/Heracross. Sunny Day is used in case the first 7-turns of sun granted by Infernape were insufficient, or if Ape was killed, and is almost always used after the opponent is lulled to sleep, due to Jumpluff's frailty. Leech Seed is used right after Sleep Powder, in case of the team not needing an extra Sunny Day. Aerial Ace is used for better type coverage, but can be exchanged fo Giga Drain for STAB damage.

Mojombo (Tangrowth)

Nature:Rash
Ability:Chlorophyll

EVS:
8 HP
252 SPA
120 SPE
130 ATK

Items:
-Life Orb/Choice Specs/Choice Scarf

Moves:
-Leaf Storm
-Hidden Power (Fire)
-Earthquake
-Knock Off/Sludge Bomb

Function:Tangrowth is an excellent mixed sweeper (under the sun, of course) and, with good type coverage, is almost guaranteed to wreck some havoc. The only move whose function is something other than damage is Knock Off, a move that can be used not only cripple item-dependent foes, but to reveal (sometimes) the opponent's build (eg: MixMence;CBMence;CSpecsMence).

Hermes (Lucario)

Nature:Jolly
Ability:Steadfast

EVS:
4 HP
252 ATK
252 SPE

Items:
-Life Orb

Moves:
-Thunderpunch
-Stone Edge
-Close Combat
-Extremespeed

Function:Lucario's role in the team is mainly (physical) sweeping, but he is also used for covering my (many) weakness. The use of Life Orb over Choice Band is for greater flexibility. Stone Edge permits Lucario to kill otherwise lethal threats (to the rest of my team), like Zapdos and Togekiss. Since PZ is gone from my team, Thunderpunch is necessary, because , if Heathen dies, it is the only counter I have for Salamence/Dragonite.

Heathen (Heatran)

Nature:Timid

EVS:
4 HP
252 SPA
252 SPE

Items:
-Life Orb/Choice Specs/Choice Scarf

Moves:
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Dragon Pulse
-Solar Beam

Functions: Most of my Pokemon are weak to Flying, specially Shiftry, who is 4x weak. So, Heatran is my anti-Flying/anti-Dragon Pokemon, and, being a Fire type, is has good synergy with my team and gains a considerable boost from Sunny Day, in the form of a enhanced Fire Blast/Solar Beam. Life Orb is for giving Heatran extra power without crippling its flexibility, allowing him better type coverage.

Final Comments: The main problem of the team is the lack of perma-weather, which means I waste two extra slots using Sunny Day. The Chlorophyll speed boosts allow for very effective sweeps, permiting the pokemon on this team to outspeed most of (non-scarfed) pokemons in OU. This team is actually very useful and, despite its appearance, is also pretty good, although it appears more frail than it really is. Give it a chance and it may actually surprise you ^_^.

-Frostfree

With this team, you really don't have a great set-upper of sun. The Pokemon that do set it up are very frail, and will probably only get it up once each during the match, and that isn't even guaranteed. I would try something over Porygon-Z, because it doesn't benefit from Sunny Day, and is just dead weight. I'm not sure what would be a good candidate, as I've never tried Sunny Day teams. Also, a Choice Band on Shiftry seems pointless, because it just wastes turns of Sunny Day switching out. I'd go with Life Orb. Good luck with the team!

UPDATED ^_^!

Good idea ^_^! Now my Shiftry runs Life Orb, to make the most out off Sunny Day. I will try switching the Choices in my team for LOs and see if it is any good. Porygon-Z is, if not necessary, really important to the team, although i'll try to switch him for a fire/leaf guard/solar beam/chlorophyll poke. If you check the 'Potential Threats and their answers', you will see that I need Dutch to kill looooads of pokes and i could only remove him if i managed to find a better poke with both Ice Beam and Thunderbolt. However, i'll browse through Smogon and see if I can find a better substitute for Dutch ^_^. If I find a good one, I will update the RMT again and tell you all about it XD! And about my Sunny Day starters, I need a really speedy pokemon, since i wont be able to scarf him, and therefore I think it will be hard to find better SD startes other tan Infernape and Jumpluff =/.

I think you should replace your lead with Crobat instead of Infernape. Crobat, with its incredible speed and Hypnosis, makes it extremely easy to get off Sunny Day early in the match. More EVs can be invested in HP which allows much more bulk. And with Roost, Crobat should be sticking around for a while. U-Turn makes it good to scout an incoming switch and make it easy for your sweepers to enter.

And I'd suggest Infernape in Porygon-Zs spot. Porygon is just not helping you that much, and Infernape under Sunny Day makes Fire blast or Flamethrower, your pick, very powerful even when resisted. Nape is just a better sweeper overall.

I think the man thing i see that your missing are walls. You really do not need heracross and shiftry together, you can use them at seperate times, but frankly to much sweeping is involved. I like the fact that you acknowledge all possible foes, but you need to recognize that if the one thing that can take down that specific poke goes down, you entire team could get rocked. So you need something that can take solid hits. Might i recommend these guys?

Slowbro
-Flamethrower
-Psychic
-Slack Off
-Toxic/Ice Beam/T-Wave
@ leftovers (Bold)

Slowbro is a great bulky water type, and since it takes fire and water attacks well, it can serve to your own adavantage. Also, since Slowbro gets flamethrower, he can use it's sunny day boost to hit alot of other walls down. Psychic is a great stab. Slack Off is a great recovery, and the last move slot is for your choosing.

Swampert
@ Leftovers (Impish)
-Earthquake
-Avalanche/Ice Punch
-Stealth Rock
-Toxic

Swampert is another great wall, and the only weakness is pretty much walled by the rest of your team. Toxic can stall well, Stealth rock helps out in the metagame, Ice Punch kills off swampert's only weakness and hits alot of OUs hard. Earthquake is obvious for Stab.

Finally
Claydol
-Sunny Day
-Psychic/Shadow Ball
-Rapid Spin
-Earth Power/Solarbeam
@ Leftovers (Bold/Calm)

The great thing about Claydol is that it makes a great utility and has excellent defensive capabilities. You can Rapid Spin to remove any annoying disrupters, and still restablish sunny day. The two attacks are solely based on preference. And, you can easily avoid a nasty suprise EQ due to leviatate.

All in all, you have good sweepers and leads, but what you really lack are walls. If you simply get two walls that you want or i have suggested, you will have a pretty solid sunny Day team. Hope you find this info helpful!

UPDATE ^_^!

Now ALL my pokemon run LO! I tested it and loved the flexibility. I tried changing PZ for a Solar Power+Choice Specs Sunflora, but even w/ the 720 SPA, the horrible speed made it to frail. I also tried Executtor, but it increased even more my team's dependencie to SD, plus, his SPA was considerably lower. I will try removing PZ and putting Infernape in its place, and I will also try the Roost Crobat Lead. If I change anything, i will inform you ^_^!

Flying is rarely used as an attacking type, but a Heatran benefits greatly from Sunny Day. That could be used. Solarbeam gets around bulky waters, and boosted Fire Blasts is uberly powerful.

Think about Fire blast from heatran Life orber with sunny day and flash fire activated (easy with all the grass type in his team), just awesome so it's a great choice for his team and he can take air slash from togekiss ^^

UPDATE ^_^!

Heatran was an awesome addition to the team and Crobat's Hypnosis proved to be really useful too ^_^, so I removed Infernape and PZ. However, although Heatran should have HP Grass, I'm tempted to put Ice, to deal with Dragons, Flying types and Flying Dragons (Salamence, I'm looking at you and at your 4x Grass resistance)

Update ^_^!

Finally decided for HP Ice. Playtested it some more and obtained good results on the ladder, although now that I lack psychic, i have problems dealing with Cresselia (Since it can just PP stall Sucker Punch) and Azelf (unless I revenge kill it)

And i notice that you can play Lucario over heracross, the x4 flying weakness is remplace by a neutral one ^^ that already give you another possibility to have a priority move in your team =p I think about :

Lucario @ life orb
Jolly / Adamant, Full Speed & Atk
Close combat
Extreme speed
Stone edge / SD
Crunch / Ice punch / Thunder punch

Maybe SD + Tpunch is great choice because you don't have any elec move in your team and you can ruin gyarados easily with this moves ;p
Another thing, maybe you should play your crobat with Uturn or Superfang/Brave bird on air slash. And Exeggutor is a really great choice over Tangrowth or jumpluff ^^
I think you can play more with Solarbeam on your grass pokémon
Hoping that I've help you, see you around ^^

You could try the following moves on your Heatran set:

- Fire Blast / SolarBeam / Earth Power / Dragon Pulse

Losing Explosion does mean you have to switch out of Blissey rather than potentially taking out a roadblock to the team, but you have other physical ways of dealing with her. SolarBeam and Dragon Pulse take care of your HP Ice / Grass issues, and you can even take out Kingdra. Earth Power deals with other Heatran who may be locked into fire attacks. Expert Belt over Life Orb will also look like you are running a Scarf set, which is surprising when you hit them with another move on the switch.

Ok I will test Lucario ^_^. But without PZ, I am having a HARD TIME dealing with Dragons and Fighting types, since I lost Psychic, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt and STABed Tri Attack =/. Any suggestions on how to deal with Dragons without Ice Beam/Thunderbolt?

EDIT (End Fashion): Sorry End Fashion, didn't read your post ^_^. Dragon Pulse is an excellent idea, although I don't really like Solarbeam (I mean, I already have a hard time when the sun fades and I don't have any sun-dependent moves. Although this IS a SD team, I like having a plan B and not being too dependent on SD).

EDIT2 (Raito): I can't run both Hypnosis AND Brave Bird on Crobat =/. Hmm, i already tried Exeggutor and I can say that, at least in my team, Tangrowth is better. However, I might consider removing Jumpluff and choosing Ex in its place, since Crobat has Hypnosis, which makes Sleep Powder more or less useless. But I'm not sure, since Crobat has difficulties hypnotizing any pokemon (except the lead), due to its lack of HP (since it usually dies in the beginning of the game). However, if I do replace Jumpluff, I be kinda sad XD, since this team was made as an attempt to use him OU (hence the name Lucy (in The Sky with Diamonds)). Anyway, thanks for your continuous help, I hope you will continue helping me making this team better ^_^.

PS to All: Sorry for the eventual grammar/construction mistakes I make. I'm not from a english-speaking country, so my english kinda sucks XD.

Major UPDATE ^_^!

Well, I've changed loooads of things in this team ^_^! Lucario is replacing Heracross, Heatran was permanently modified to the set End suggested and x replaces Jumpluff XD! Lucario is awesome, although I've still to learn how to play well with him. The new Heatran set is very good and is better than PZ ^_^! Ex is replacing Jumpluff, because, with Crobat in the team, Pluff is useless. However, I still haven't decided in the Ex set =/. The new playtest results were very bad actually, one win and two losses, but that was because I faced a Trick Room team, who destroyed my speedy team (but it is ok, they really aren't that common). The other loss was to the very same person (although he used another team) and was I lost due to bad choices, which has nothing to do with the team. While I choose the new set for Ex (any suggestions?), I will keep playtesting and hope for better results on the ladder ^_^!

EDIT: For those wondering when I will update the threats list, I will only do it once I have made the team 'permanent', with no more alterations (in the near future) in the cast of my team. Of course there will be updates in the future, because the OU metagame is in constant change, but since I am still perfecting the team and remove some of its pokemon every few days, it is unnecessary to keep the TList changing at the same pace (and also because I'm lazy, updating the TL takes too much time, I can't do it every day ><)

EDIT2:I will fix the sprites on the next update, after I have decided which type of Ex I want to run.

EDIT3:Another major update, but if I post again the mods might think I'm bumping this thread XD (although, when I post, is because I added something new to the team)! Added Exeggutor and fixed Crobat's EVS for more bulk. Also, I fixed the horrible formatting of the team.

FINAL UPDATE

I re-added Jumpluff for the double sleep. I'm 'deleting' this team. After a streak of losses, i came to the conclusion I have to play more and gain more experience before trying this kind of team, so I will stop posting on this thread. After I get better, I will come back and fix the team ^_^.
