XY OU The sweep will descent. [Peaked ~1.6k][In-depth]

TO THE MODS IT MAY CONCERN-
I did not read the stickied thread before posting. Help me change the title of the post if you can, but please do not delete this post. Thanks you.

Introduction

My name is Onyx Descents, and I am an experienced battler. I started in Gen 5 where i peaked at about 1700 using the infamous 5 drag 1 mag. After that, I stopped playing pokemon for quite a while. I lost my account and when I joined back, it was Gen 6 and a new plethora of pokemons came. Adjusting to the new mega evolutions and and quickly realizing that my old team doesnt work in this generation anymore, I started building up my team.

This is the result.

mamoswine.jpg

Mamotaro @ Lum Berry
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Ice Shard
- Rest

This is the tank of the team. Lum berry is held so that it can absorb status like no other- no pokemon in my team likes a burn or a toxic. I use Mamoswine to deal with pesky Landorus-T's who can stop my sweep easily. Ice shard for dragons, mostly Lan-t's and Garchomps. Stone edge is for pesky flying pokes like Talonflame, but usually I just get outsped if I dont use Ice shard.
I chose Rest over Earthquake because NOBODY will be stupid enough to let a pokemon weak to EQ stay in with Mamoswine. Rest is used after Mamo has been status-ed and used his Lum berry. Staying alive till the late game (albeit sleeping) will allow me a free switch of a revenge killer after it has fainted. I DO NOT let Mamo die in the early game, Ice shard and its bulk is too valuable for me to waste, since it is the only tank of the team.

azumarill.jpg

Hand @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Superpower

The first set-up sweeper of the team. This is the answer to bulky water types who wall my team to no end. Switch in on a weak scald or something weak it can threaten with aqua jet and then Belly drum! After a boost, Azumarill's attack skyrocket and is able to OHKO almost everything in the meta. Since it has such horrible speed though, Aqua jet will usually be spammed. Its sweep will almost always be stopped by priorities or soaked up by Rotom-W and Venusaur. However, that is okay as I use Azumarill as a wallbreaker to make way for the real sweeper later. BE CAREFUL OF BURNS.

dragonite.jpg

Wings @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

The second set-up sweeper core of my team. NOBODY expects this. My answer to Charizards and Fairies. Revenge switch Dragonite into something he is weak to like a Fairy or a Dragon. Multiscale will prevent the OHKO from the super effective move, and couple that with dragon dance, and BOOM, I got a +3 Atk +1 Speed monster ready to crush walls due to weakness policy. Even without the weakness policy activate, Dragonite still pack a powerful punch and can kill weaker mons with Extremespeed. No Outrage, this is not gen 5 and I cannot afford to be locked in Outrage. Earthquake is for coverage and Extremespeed is to outspeed priorities. BE CAREFUL OF STATUS, a burn or a paralysis WILL stop Dragonite's rampage early. DO NOT switch into stealth rocks, losing the multiscale means that Ice Beams and Dragon Claws will be able to OHKO him. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN, losing Dragonite is really a big deal. I would even sacrifice both Excadrill and Mamoswine just to clear up rocks and get him in safely late game. Being able to take down one or two pokemons before fainting means that Dragonite has done a good job breaking the walls and setting up the path to the real sweeper of the team.

excadrill.jpg

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

A no brainer, I need a pokemon to spin away rocks since two of my sweepers are weak to rocks and Dragonite cannot function if Multiscale is broken.I use Air Balloon because I can safely switch this into EQ's and get an advantage if it's Excadrill vs Excadrill. Moldbreaker Earthquake is for Rotom-W and Aegislash who tries to switch in and spinblock. Iron head can be used to check Faries like Togekiss and Rock Slide completes the pseudo EdgeQuake combo, most notably to OHKO Choice locked Brave Bird Talonflame. Excadrill CANNOT DIE until the opponent's Stealth Rocker has fainted. I cannot stress this enough as I NEED rocks to be off my field.

aegislash.png

Sword and Shield @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 244 HP / 12 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword

The secondary tank of my team, and the ONLY special attacker of my team.(hooray!) Aegislash checks pokemons like no other. This guy is like a Deoxys on steriods, I have no idea what the hell it is doing in OU. In fact, this very moment, it is being suspect checked for Uber. The threat of having a -2 attack is so great, most just switch out and eat a free Shadow Ball. It's a pretty basic set, EVs are invested so that it can survive a fully invested Landorus-T's Earthquake. Shadow Sneak is there for priority. Sacred sword is there to nail down Tyranitars who wants to EQ and Bisharps who switch in to Swords Dance.

talonflame.png

The Descent @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Tailwind

Now you know why I said rocks must be off field all time. Talonflame is such a ridiculous sweeper it isn't even funny. Brave Bird and Flare blitz is all Talonflame needs to sweep. I like lead with it and to switch into psychic or dark types to U-turn away, since Talonflame outspeeds them and it gives me momentum if they switch, and just straight up killing them if they dont.
When late game comes and all the checks to Talonflame falls, it is game over.
Priority Adamant Choice Band Brave Bird is SICK- it OHKO's everything it is super effective against, and heavily dents others. 252 speed means Brave Bird outspeeds ALL priority moves except for Extremespeed.

I welcome all constructive criticisms, and I would especially like to have insights of better EV spread of my pokemons. Also, right now I feel that Mamoswine is pretty deadweight after absorbing status, and I need a check for : Skarmory, Rotom-W, Quagsire, Sub CM Suicune, and generally bulky water who spams Will-o-Wisp all day.

Hello I really do enjoy the concept of your team but I am of course here to try to help change it up for the best. First thing I noticed right of the bat was your interesting Mamoswine set and I think it would be best for you to change it to standard lead Mamo which to me just seems more useful taking into consideration that Sash Mamo beats a lot of leads on hyper offense 1v1 (i.e Garchomp, Taunt Terrak, Breloom, etc.) Now moving onto some small EV spread changes I made to Tflame / Azumarill. Firstly I changed your Azu spread to 92HP / 252Atk / 164Spd (forgot to mention superpower is an interesting choice I would usually use waterfall ofc but I will let you test which is more helpful) this being able to outrun things like Skarm / some PreMega Scizor. Then I realized the not needed Spd EVs on TFlame so I changed it to 80HP / 252Atk / 176Spd. Tbh the only time you should run that much speed is w/ Jolly SD Jolly TFlame (Jolly is for Thundurus) which I do not really think would as well on your team. Now that I got those minor changes out of the way I am moving onto the Pokemon that I decided would best be replaced. First thing I noticed was your surprising lack of a Mega and your complaints of bulky waters being a problem so I decided to replace Dragonite with Mega Manetric which may seem like an odd trade considering how different they are but to be honest that Dnite added more problems to the team then it did cover up problems the team had (imo at least.) Furthermore Mega Manetric helps with those bulky waters (not quag :[) / Skarms you were complaining about and helps with your unmentioned weakness to Thundurus a bit. Next majorish change I made was using Latias > Excadrill this way you have something that actually helps the rest of the team. This also gives you something that can take a few hits from Keldeo which nothing else on your team can do very well. Furthermore if you decide to use Healing Wish > Roost it can be extremely helpful for most mons on your team. Okay I believe that is all the changes I made, I really hope I helped you out man bye / gl using team in future. edit I FORGOT TO MENTION SOMETHIN SRY! Okay so your team is still pretty damn stall weak so idk what you can change out so try to find a Sub / WoW / Taunt / SBall Gengar or Taunt Roost SpD Gliscor on your team sorry again bud!

I can see you like Talonflame a lot for sweeping (that's all he is good for), but I have been running an Azumarill and i have given it a mystic water/splash plate which gives it just enough power to bust through most anything with priority aqua jet.

Based is right some speed investment is necessary but not quite so much. I run this
Azumarill @ Splash Plate
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
As far as your problems go I think mega venasaur works well. HP fire for skarmory, Giga Drain for quag, suicune, and rotom. He can't W-o-W but he can spread other status like sleep powder, toxic, or stun spore. He is no bulky water but does have good bulk. Also as a grass type he can absorb a lot of status most notably spore and toxic.
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll (Thick Fat)
IVs: 252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 SpDef
Nature: Modest
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Ice / Sleep Powder
Hope this helps!
