ORAS NU The Team That's Weak to (Almost) Everything

One day I made a team. I hopped on an alt and tested it on the ladder, had a few test games with dudes like hyperjellicent77 and xXEpicMJXx, and some other stuff. At first, the team was looking strong. Then I realized, that it didn't have a switch-in. For anything. Except maybe probably Klinklang, and some Sleep Powder users. This team ended up looking like some stuff could plow through it, despite all the revisions I made. It actually went a lot better than I expected, even if I went into a battle thinking "This thing's going to destroy me." Have you ever seen one your opponent's pokes and just think "I'm so screwed vs (that mon)" then it dies relatively early? Yeah, that's what I feel with this team. But hey, it wins games, it actually does a lot better than expected.

Electabuzz @ Eviolite
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Signal Beam

Electabuzz is pretty fast, I don't think it has the fastest non-scarf Volt Switch in NU, but still cool, and it's got Vital Spirit to dodge sleep. I went Electabuzz instead of something else because it outspeeds Electivire and non-scarf Rotom. It's Sp. Atk stat isn't too much lower when compared to the two either, which is another reason I considered it. It doesn't really get too many kills unless the opposing team is extremely weak to Electric and / or the coverage moves i went with, but it's done its job for the team, which is all that matters.

jynx.gif

Jynx @ Focus Sash
Ability: Forewarn
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Counter
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Lovely Kiss
I saw someone using this set quite some time ago, so I decided to bring it back. Sash Counter is for faster U-Turn users, like Scyther and Swellow, and it's actually pretty effective. As a potential counter switches in, it gets Countered (hah get it? A counter getting Countered) from the U-Turn, and probably dies. 9 times out of 10 this is what I'm leading with. It's just a useful attacking lead that can sometimes surprise stuff with Counter. If I'm not leading this, I'm getting off a mid-game Counter on the select few scenarios where I somehow prevent someone from getting up hazards with this team.

magmortar.gif

Magmortar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 104 HP / 252 SpA / 152 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Psychic
Magmortar is my main answer to setup pokes with sleeping moves, primarily Jynx, Liligant, and Vivillon. It's also a good answer for Pyroar and probably the only one, but I don't really know. All I know is that it's also strong offensively, rocking the Modest nature and enough Speed EVS for... I don't know, I took the EVs off of the Analysis, but I would guess somewhere between 70-75.

gabite.gif

Gabite @ Eviolite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Roar
Gabite handles setup Pokemon pretty well, carrying that crisp Roar to disrupt the setup, assuming your name isn't Xatu. Rough Skin gets some damage in if you attempt to hurt it with physical moves. It's actually been doing a lot better than I originally expected, but I'm not complaining. Rough Skin is especially annoying to Klinklang, one of the select few mons that doesn't give this team too much trouble. Rocks are cool as well, and with Rough Skin, I can potentially get off a bit of damage, not a lot, but enough to punish Spinners and maybe they'll die to Rough Skin damage upon spinning.

simisage.gif

Simisage @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Superpower
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot
Simisage is my favorite Grass-type Pokemon of all time, or at least one of my favorites. Definitely top 3. This 4-attack moveset has been doing wonders in battles. Literally useless vs Poison-types, but I'm not totally dead vs. Poison types with this team. It actually outspeeds a lot and has surprising killing power. I don't know if this is the exact set I should be using, but it's been able to do everything it can for the team.

garbodor.gif

Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 248 HP / 48 Atk / 212 Def
Impish Nature
- Drain Punch
- Gunk Shot
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
...And last on the list we have a Garbodor. I decided I wanted a bit of attack EVs after running a couple calcs, and it's been pretty helpful so far. After putting 240 hp and the few Atk EVs, I decided to throw the rest of the EVs into Defense. Takes physical hits really nicely, retaliates with Gunk Shots and Drain Punches at relatively high power levels. And of course, spike stacking. Garbodor's Rocky Helmet combined with Gabite's Rough Skin makes a cool hazard stacking core that punishes Rapid Spins with damage.

Well, yeah, that was the team I guess. Thanks for your time. Have a nice day. I hope you use my team and stuff, because if I saw someone else's RMT, I would take it and use it.

Bye.
a team can be weak because of typing but that does not mean the team is not a G R E A T work of beauty young trainer, that team there that i c above is a work of art, beauty, and i wish u continue on making these find works of art and i wish u the best of luck in your endeavors u_u

hey bro,

Nice team you have here. You have a tonne of quirky mons that are quite underrated, but I'll think we should focus on making you, less weak to "everything". Obviously, I'm taking a more objective approach to how i change mons on your team, rather than subjective one since you didn't really state a Mon you really wanted to build around.

First off, your normal resist is Garbodor, which shouldn't be the case. And having one flying resist which gets hit really hard by the likes of Archeop's EQ and Swellow's Facade is also not ideal. So, I am going to suggest Tank Rhydon > Gabite. Not only does it handle flying types, normal types and electric volt switchers much better than gabite originally did (and run the same moves). You also mentioned Poison Types are a bitch to switch into, so Rhydon also provides a solid use in that regard.

You also seem extremely weak to fighting type Pokémon. They seem to pass Garbodor with ease (or just wear it down with other mons) then just kill everything else with a cc. Scarf Sawk literally ruins you after a bit of residual on Rhydon, sash broken on Jynx (rocks) and no static when killing the ebuzz. As a result, we are kinda gonna try and shoot two birds with one bullet. You also lack Speed Control, and even with Rhydon as a normal resist, I don't like it as my only option. As a result, I'm going to suggest Scarf Rotom > Electabuzz. With Scarf Rotom, you probably have on of the best pivots in the tier, having so many immunities and opportunities to switch in and just get residual damage for your mons. Provides the easiest speed control in the tier, Trick or Will-O support and an excellent typing giving it many switch opportunities.

Onto the final swap and I feel like Pokémon such as [insert water type] are annoying for this team. Jynx's Dry Skin (> Forewarn) shouldn't be your main way of dealing with the likes of Sd Samurott, Quagsire, Prinplup or even Kabutops. As a result, I suggest rebuffing this area by using Timid RD Ludicolo > Simisage. This is probably a harder decision to make than the other ones, but Ludicolo is a much better offensive switch into waterfalls, Quagsire, and generally things with Scald that have the coverage to hit Simisage. It also provides us with a much needed cleaner, since we lack one that functions well from the get go.

Sorry for all the changes, I feel that they are neccesary so that you are gonna have an easier time laddering ^~^.

Rhydon @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 240 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge / Rock Blast
- Roar / Megahorn

Rotom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Trick

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Rain Dance
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump / Surf

and dry skin on Jynx

best of luck with the future.
~HJAD

edit: ignore what I said about changing Jynx's ability to Dry Skin, just found out its illegal to have counter + dry skin. However, it just makes the reason to run Ludicolo more imperative since it also also checks special waters like AoA Samu, Simipour etc as well
