The Underabused Uber

Overview
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
K, hope everyone reading the title got that little pun. Anyways, this is an uber team that I've used to a good success on the ladder and has gotten me to 15, it's also beaten some quality players. This team is all about setting up a Ho oh sweep. Ho oh in sun is often seen as a worse palkia in rain. This is not true, ho oh is incredible bulky, has instant recovery, and access to the best fire move in the game in sacred fire. If you don't think that is enough, it is so underused in the uber tier just by using it I have the element of suprise, even with sun. This can spell doom for my oppnent. There are a few neccesities ho oh must have so that it isn't a worse palkia. One of them is sunlight, to make sacred fire's power go to unseen levels as well as give thunder 50 accuracy. The 2nd is rapid spin support, without it you might as well use palkia who doesnt take that massive damage from SR. The 3rd is paralysis support because ho oh is one of the slower ubers, and the 4rth is a way to kill giratina, ho oh's only counter. Now onto the team.

The Lead

-thunder-wave

Suprisingly Groudon is not my lead. I used him as a lead earlier but kyogre/tyranitar would always come in and ruin the fun mid-game whereas ho oh sweeps late game, by making deoxys E my lead I am giving Groudon more chances to set up sun if kyogre or tyranitar wanna ruin the fun, both are handled nicely anyways. The set is standard except for thunder-wave. Ho oh is very slow and he absolutely loves paralysis support, if superpower went here it would be for darkrai. Thunder-wave ruins darkrai anyways so I figured why not, it's been working. SR is imprortant as hell because 252hp/252 def bold lugia takes a minimum of 52% from sacred fire meaning if I get minimum damage twice on that amazing off chance, lugia's leftovers make it a 3hko. Spikes weaken kyogres waterspouts so it becomes managable.

The Spinner

Ho oh needs a spinner. Without one it loses its bulk and I would be using palkia in the rain instead. Deoxys E has spikes covered so toxic goes on forry for walls like lugia or if I dont wanna explode on something like garchomp. Speaking of dragons, forry is my counter to physical ray and garchomp. It takes outrages like a champ. If there SR user is gone and so are the dragons(or they are at least managable) I explode. Its a shame forretress doesnt get t-wave but zap cannon is not reliable. Impish> Relaxed to outspeed paralyzed mewtwo/deoxys A.

The Hard Hitting Special Sweeper

Palkia@Choice Specs

-Spacial Rend

-fire blast

Palkia is a monster and my main answer to specsogre waterspout until spikes make it possible for blissey to stop specsogre. He goes over dialga for that reason and the speed is welcome. He is the closest thing I have to a wallbreaker and he breaks every wall except bliss. If groudon goes down and rain appears, unless I know my opponent has a groudon, I abandon the ho oh sweep and the primary goal becomes eliminate blissey so palkia can sweep. With her gone he will sweep himself. Surf and fire blast take advantage of both weathers. I felt that with all the paralysis being spread choice scarf would only be for garchomp who is immune to t-wave but garchomp is faster anyways so I slapped choice specs on. He doesn't run the mixed attacker because aqua tail is weakned by sun and I don't like outrage unless it's on a physical attacker. He is also my main answer to giratina, the only thing that stops ho oh. Palkia basically destroys and weakens my oppnents team so ho oh can OHKO everything and doesnt have to kill as many threats. Palkia is my only special sweeper.

Blissey is my special wall and cleric. It takes the pressure off of my other pokemon when they are facing powerful special sweepers because blissey can wall most special attacks with ease. Having a cleric is great. Status sucks in ubers. If ho oh gets paralyzed than all my efforts of paralyzing the opposing team were for nothing. Having a cleric allows you to be more reckless because your oppnent may think it is worth it to sacrifice a mon to status a threat and I can take that status and heal it later making their effort and sacrifice for nothing.

nature:adamant

-stone edge
-thunder-wave
-swords dance

Paradancer. The perfect combination of support and sweeper. Groudon's main reason is to provide sun support for ho oh but this set is chosen because it can thunder-wave anything that seems like a threat and swords dance its attack all the way up to 800, enough for stone edge to always OHKO lugia. I used to run a support groudon but found it wasn't dealing enough damage but wanted to keep using it for support as well as dishing out some offense, the paradancer seemed perfect. Groudon is also my answer to RPgroudon with fire punch because with these bulky evs, he can easily take RPgroudon's earthquakes. Also another answer to garchomp and bulk up dialga and physical rayquaza.

The Star

Ho oh @ Life Orb
224hp 252atk 8 spD 24 spe
nature:adamant
-sacred fire
-earthquake
-roost
-punishment/substitute

Ho oh, the star of the show and demonstrating his unknown danger to the uber tier. After the oppnents team is paralyzed, weakened, and giratinaless, ho oh is ready to make his appearance, firing off superpowered sacred fires. Earthquake is for the rare rock type and damages dialga and metagross in the rain. Roost is for Life orb recoil and shedding the electric weak and part of the rock weakness. I never use punishment, sacred fire does like 5% less to the lati in the sun and it may burn them, but then it can be PPstalled. Substitute protects against status and ho oh creates bulky substitutes so I am considering it. 224 hp evs gives ho oh 409 hp, a life orb and stealth rock number, 252 atk is obvious, 24 spe gives 222 spe, enough to outspeed adamant tyranitar, and the 8 evs in spD were leftover so they went there.

Threat List

Rayquaza-special ones are handed by blissey, physical ones are handled by forretress, SDray with flamethrower is handled by groudon. Mixquaza is handled by palkia and ho oh.

Groudon-Choice Band groudon means ho oh gets a free switch in EQ and that usually means as long as theres no giratina or kyogre that somethings gonna die, special palkia included. SDgroudon is slammed by specs draco meteor and boosted sacred fire. Rock Polish is handled by my own Groudon because he has insane bulk. Support t-wave are aromatherapied.

Palkia-mixed attacker is quite difficult but in the sun aqua tail does pitiful damage to blissey while outrage is soaked up by forretress. Ho oh can take thunder and sun weakened surf. Draco Meteor is roosted off and than palkia can't touch ho oh. Specs is stopped by blissey and CB is stopped by Groudon and forretress

Dialga-Special dialga isn't getting past blissey and if its paralyzed than blissey can softboiled before Brick Break if its mixed. Outrage is soaked up by forry on the mixed set. Bulk Up is settup fodder on Groudon because dialga will need a couple of bulk ups to 2hko groudon with outrage and than I switch to forry. While he bulk ups I SD, his +1 doesn't keep up with my +2.

Kyogre- Scarf is walled by blissey, specs is stopped by palkia on the first water spout and than when it switches in again spikes and SR makes water spout a 3hko. If it stays in on palkia specs Draco Meteor does massive damage. CM resttalk is hard but only one attack makes it easier to beat. After multiple CMs punishment hurts it like crap too. I have never faced a physical one but I think palkia and forretress could handle it.

Latios-Blissey
Latias- Substitute/Roar is the only hard one, to beat it just break the sub and either paralyze it or slam it with a specs draco meteor. If deoxys E is still around it has taunt

Deoxys A-Oh shit this ones tough, luckily ho oh can take LO thunder ok and it only hits half the time. If it lacks psycho boost palkia can revenge kill it.

Deoxys D-Hit with toxic, set up groudon on it, slam with specs draco meteor, or hit with sacred fire which in sun and LO does about 80% to the standard 252hp 96 def careful Deo D

Lugia- ho oh hits it so hard, forry toxicates it, groudon sets up on it, and specs draco meteor hits hard

ho oh- SR keeps it in control and most users don't use a spinner. Specs Draco Meteor and spacial rend hit it hard and I've never seen an offensive one with roost/recover. Defensive variants can't do anything to palkia and groudon can fire off a stone edge and maybe even get in an SD. Specs is stopped by blissey.

blissey-ho oh rapes it.

mewtwo-blissey can paralyze it. Sub CM recover is the only thing that can beat blissey and avoid status, luckiy ho oh is resistant to aura sphere and blissey can handle its other attacks well enough. CMers that are statused are killed by palkia, groudon, and ho oh

giratina-the biggest threat to the team. It can wall everything except palkia and groudon if it lets groudon get +6, even burn won't stop that. If it's used with blissey then there could be a problem. The fact that it resorts to resttalk though gives groudon a chance to set up on it.

Tyranitar-only threatens because of sand, groudon is the defintion of a ttar counter and forry ain't half bad either, LO earthquake hurts as well from ho oh and you think ttar will like a specs draco meteor

I'll give a full rate later but for now just some quick suggestions:

I'm pretty meh about deo e leads. I think between Dark Pulse and Dark Void, there is no way for Deo to win. But for now, I believe that Lum Berry is the better choice.

Use the standard support groudon EVs for double dance. Lugia's ice beam 4hkoes, and you can outspeed most bulk up dialga's.

That's all for now.

ill test lum berry but Im not sure about it, deo E isnt sweeping anything so why would something like darkrai want to sleep something thats not a threat, ill try support groudon evs for paradance but is there a particular reason for it?

Obviously Deo-e isn't sweeping, and no one actually thinks it does. Everyone knows Deo-e is here to set up rocks, spikes, screens, whatever. So if a team wants to avoid that stuff from getting up, then they just sleep you, because they know sash or not, Dark Pulse is only a 2hko (it does 73% max to a 0 HP/0 SpD Hasty Deoxys-e).

I would use support groudon EVs (252 HP / 156 Atk / 32 Def / 60 SpD / 8 Spe ) because: Lugia's Ice Beam is only a 4hko (quite useful if you plan on SDing in its face) and you have a tiny bit of extra speed to beat out some other base 90s (like bulk up dialga). It also has some useful defensive aspects, like Latias dragon pulse rarely 2hkoing you, and surviving jolly rayquaza's outrage. The Ice Beam survival is the primary reason though.

Anyway, I think this is an otherwise very solid team. I do not see many problems at all.

the only thing that makes me hesistant to use support groudon evs is that DD LO outrage from adamant rayquaza isnt a guaranteed 2hko with SR up, is it acceptable to move enough attack evs to defense so that groudon will always survive the outrage?

edit: I think it would need to much defensive investment, i have a spinner any ways so im testing now but according to marrilands calculator lugias ice beam does 32-37% to 60 spD groudon, wait thats a 4hko
