This is my second team on VGC, so far this team has been very good, netting me 46 wins and only 1 loss on random matchups. (The one loss is due to crit hax of the opponent) I never rage-quit on RM so these are real.
No more bragging about stuff, here's the team!
Politoed@Choice Specs
Nature- Modest
Ability- Drizzle
252 hp 252 spA 4 spe
-Surf
-Hidden Power Grass
-Scald
-Ice beam
This is my starter pokemon. This guy sets up the rain, and supports Gastrodon, toxicroak and Ludicolo (Only once though). However, this guy is faster than other weather inducers that isn't named ninetales so I will have trouble setting up rain, but I always have a plan for that. This is also the basic set for Politoed for me, and I chose choice specs and modest for hard hitting.
Ludicolo@Absorb Bulb
Nature- Modest
Ability- Swift Swim
168 hp 252 spA 88 spe
-Hydro Pump
-Giga Drain
-Fake out
-Ice beam
Ludicolo is a giant powerhouse. As strong as Politoed SPA-wise but with freedom to choose attacks once absorb bulb is in effect, and faster than Max Speed Crobat in the rain. The EV spread is strange, but I chose 88 Speed because then Ludicolo will have 101 speed, and 202 in the rain, thus outspeeding ever 130 base speed that isn't holding an unlikely choice scarf. 252 special attack is obvious enough, and rest of EV spread goes to HP to tank out some hits. Hydro Pump is pretty much a staple on ludicolo due to it having pretty much 240 BP due to the rain and STAB. Giga Drain for healing, STAB and dealing with other water types (or other types) Fake out is there so I can make sure the opponent doesn't move for a turn and helps Politoed to get a surf off. Ice beam for dealing with dragons, ESPECIALLY latios or 4x weakness ones.
Gastrodon@Rindo Berry
Nature- Bold
Ability- Storm Drain
252 hp 128 DEF 128 SDEF
-Icy Wind
-Scald
-Recover
-Toxic
Gastrodon is a tank and a sweeper in one (though not much of a sweeper without +1 or +2 Special attack) Rindo berry was chosen to be the item due to the 4x weakness to grass. The EV spread is awkward, but I chose it anyways to even out both defenses. Icy Wind is there to slow down opponents easily and do some ice damage. Scald is there for STAB and rain power and burns so physical attackers can get weakened. Recover is to prolong its life on the field, and toxic is to wear down Cress and other pokemon.
Toxicroak@Black Sludge
Nature- Adamant
Ability- Dry Skin
252 hp 252 ATK 4 speed
-Fake Out
-Drain Punch
-Sucker Punch
-Protect
Pretty standard for a toxicroak. Black sludge and dry skin for healing, fake out for immobilizing a pokemon for a turn, drain punch to wear down pokemon weak to it like tyranitar, and heal damage. Sucker punch for dark typing and +1 priority so I can kill off pokemon almost dead. Protect is to help it survive an attack from another pokemon.
Kingdra@Life Orb
Nature- Modest
Ability- Swift Swim
4 hp 252 spA 252 spe
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-Dragon Pulse
-Protect
My backup swift swimmer. There are some differences to it from ludicolo like only 1 weakness, able to hit Latios, hydreigon and other dragons hard, and able to hit water types too. Protect is for helping it survive, and no fake out pretty much makes these 2 different, other than the item choices.
Thundurus@Focus Sash
Nature- Timid
Ability- Prankster
4 hp 252 spA 252 spe
-Thunder
-Hidden Power Ice
-Rain Dance
-Thunder Wave
Quite annoying and if I detect a weather changer on the opponents team, this guy is a good rain dance backup. Focus sash was chosen due its inability to take a hit. Thunder is there for a good electric attack that will have 100% accuracy in the rain. Hidden power ice is countering flying types and electric types and stuff. Rain dance is important because if Politoed is dead and sun is up or other weathers, rain dance can neutralize the weather. Thunder Wave is there for paralysis and I could use it if my opponent is faster than me and i'm at a very low HP count.
So, what do you think? Please give feedback! Edit: Changed gastrodon's EV spread to survive a draco meteor from timid latios. Edit 2: Politoed's EV spread was wrong, changed it.
