~The Way Of The Bulky Offense~ {OU}

~Introduction~

Hey smogon-ers its been a while since my last rmt, but anyways i first thought of doing a UU team because that is most likely where my favorite pokemon will shine (Arcanine, the Jhoto starters, etc.) but with Arcanines new move, morning sun, i wanted to try and incorporate that into a good balanced OU team. I mainly tried to use bulky pokemon to emphasize on his new move that basically boosts his survivability, so um... yeah

~Team Building Process~

There he is, Arcanine, the big boy. Well he is who i wanted my team to be based upon, his teamates creating an open path for him to come in and harass the other pokemon. So he was obvious, but i wanted a good lead that was reliable and would crack holes in the opponents team. So basically a good anti-lead. And i knew a good one...

149.png

There is my anti-lead. In my personal opinion dragonite destroys salamence in three things, being a cleric, a wall, and a lead. I went for a physical with a large hp investment to make sure that he is alive later in the game to support arcanine. OK, im done with picking my favorite pokemon, i needed someone that could cover dragonites defenses, arcanines defenses, and protect them.

Jirachi is a good wall, ressisting all of dragonites weaknesses and most of Arcanine, while Dragonite resists most of jirachi's. However Jirachi is not there to stand around and do nothing! I made Jirachi a major supporter of the team by being a wisher and a dual screen. The screens protect the intire team from damage, and add heavily to the bulkiness of the team. Jirachi can heal all of my pokemon and allow them to survive hits that would normally kill them.

145.png

Zapdos was the next instillment to the team for the main reason being that i was weak to swampert. He could destroy arcanine with its stab moves, jirachi is easily owned with earthquake, and Dragonite fails to kill a swampert if it has icebeam. Zapdos is basically one of my physical walls. With HP grass i can take out that threat and wreak major havak.

134.png

I wanted a bulky water as a special wall, to take the water attacks being aimed at Arcanine, and thanks to vaporeons special ability he gains health. Isnt that jolly! not much to say about him though, another wish passer.

My main wall and attacker, he tears massive holes into the opponents team, and with the dual shields he is nearly invincible due to his high defense and good typing.

~In Depth~

149.png

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Inner Focus
252 hp/ 252 atk/ 4 spe
Adamant
-Superpower
-Earthquake
-Extreemspeed
-Dragon Claw

My Anti-Lead dragonite, i focused on one side of the spectrum so i can give him more bulk. I did not swap Fire Blast for fire punch because of the low power of it and that super power was much more effective. Super power catches many heatran off guard because they are always carrying a shuca berry, however Superpower still has enough power to OHKO heatran. Earthquake was for some obvious type coverage, Extreemespeed to get a priority move and hurt leads like Ninjask and break the sash on leads like azelf. Dragon claw was for some obvious physical stab.

59.png

Arcanine @ Muscle Band
Flash Fire
120 hp/ 152 atk/ 236 spe
Adamant
- Flare Blitz
- Thunder Fang
- Iron Head
- Morning Sun

Arcanine can easily put dents into the opponents team like this, flare blitz as a strong and powerful stab move. Thunder fang as a way to dent water types, and iron head as a way to hurt rock types trying to come in on moves that are resisted, and also getting that wonderful 30% flinch. Morning sun heals 50% of its health provided there is no weather and can further increase is survivability. he is meant to be a late game sweeper, taking out everything left in the opponents team. Muscle band was due to the fact i play under item clause.

385.png

Jirachi @ Light Clay
Serene Grace
252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpD
Careful
- U-Turn
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Wish

Jirachi makes as a good wish passer and a good screener. Jirachi is able to protect my pary and further boost their effectivness with the screens. Wish lets them get healed if there is any injury, and u-turn is to attack and switch out, also due to there being no speed EV's most of the time the new pokemon gets to come in with no damage taken. Light clay to boost the length of the screens.

145.png

Zapdos @ Wise Glasses
Pressure
248 HP / 228 Def / 32 Spe
Bold
- Thunder Bolt
- Roost
- HP Grass 70
- Heat Wave

This Zapdos easily takes care of pokemon like scizor and swampert. Swampert is a threat to most of my team due to most of my team being weak to most of the moves he can carry like, ice beam, surf, earthquake, and stone edge. with this Zapdos can easily destroy swampert with hp grass. scizor and other steels get decimated by heat wave, and thunder bolt is a great stab move. Roost was to heal, and to get rid of his rock weakness for a turn. Wise Glasses to boost the power of his moves by 10% but i would of switched it to lefties, but you know. Item clause.

134.png

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
252 hp/ 252 spdef/ 4 spa
calm
- Acid Armor
- Surf
- Wish
- Protect

Vaporeon is the special wall on my team. due to acid armor being one of its moves and reflect being up by the time it is in the match i did not go for any defense EV's. Acid Armor was to boost her defense to the max, surf as a good stab, wish to regain health, and protect to scout out for moves. The Ev's give him the highest durability as a special wall due to maxing out hp and spdef. With both walls up she becomes almost invincible with 2 acid armors.

376.png

Metagross @ Shell Bell
clear body
252 hp/ 244 def/ 12 spe
impish
- Bullet Punch
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Earthquake

Meta with shell bell, ev's allow for great defense, blet punch for the priority move, ice punch for dragons, thunder punch for everything else, and eathquake for the other steels or rock type pokemon. He is my main physical wall and withthe support of the screens he is nearly invinsible. The shell bell helps heighten its survivability.

so guys how ya think?

I will simply break your team down pokemon by pokemon.

Dragonite as an Anti Lead does not need Dragon Claw. No leads particuarly are weak to it, and it'll just slow you down. If you wanna use a good anti lead, then go ahead and go with this set:

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Naughty/Lonely - Personal Preference to be honest
EV's: 108 HP, 200 atk, 200 special atk
- Superpower
- Fire Blast
- Extreemspeed
- Draco Meteor

This allows you to hit every lead and every switch in hard and it covers every type you need covered. Every lead is 2 hit KO's and in most cases, Metagross will be outsped. The ev's can be interchangeable to personal preference. Just try and keep the atk and special atk pretty high, don't worry too much about bulk. However since I saw you gave it some bulk, I gave it 108 hp to keep some of it haha.

As for Arcanine, if you wanna use it which I don't recommend, try doing this because Morning sun on this guy isn't fun. You wanna try and set him up for a late game sweep. Him being stealth rock weak doesn't help and he's not really THAT bulky. So set him up as a late game sweeper.

Arcanine @ Muscle Band/Life Orb
- Adamant
Ev: 20 HP, 252 atk, 236 speed
- Flare Blitz
- Iron Head
- Extreemspeed
- Thunder Fang

Arcanine doesn't have an incredible move set to begin with so you gotta really tear up the opponents team before hand. Iron Head takes out T-Tar while Extreemspeed and hurt Latias switch ins and obvious priority. Flare Blitz for stab and Thunder Fang for the ovious Gyaras etc. Arcanine has a limited moveset, so this is the best thing I could come up with offensively.

You have no way of dealing with rotom, but we will get to that later. You could be seriously swept by SubChargeBeam Rotom. Use this Zapdos

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Pressure
248 HP / 228 Def / 32 Spe
Bold
- Thunderbolt

- Hp Grass
- Roost
- T-Wave/Roar

This is a very defensive Zapdos which also makes sure you don't get your ass set up on. Heat Wave isn't a necessity since Scizor isn't doing anything to Zap to begin with. And Metagross isn't a match either to be quite honest. Zone may be a slight issue but it's nothing to worry about really. We'll get into Zone in a bit.

I don't like the fact that your using a Dual Screen Jirachi. Just throw that away, make the teams objective to trash everything and let Arcanine clean up. Wish Passing w/ Dual Screen Rachi is danergous and a waste of a slot and you can't win if he is your final pokemon. I suggest putting something in this slot that handles Zone well, maybe a Latias/Tyranitar/etc.

Vaporeon doesn't need max special d with the HP he has. Just worry about him taking those dangerous physical hits. I suggest...

Vaporeon @ Lefties
Bold
252 HP, 236 def, 20 special atk/special defense
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Ice Beam/HP Electric

Personal preference here, Gyara could be a slight problem even with Zap. If it is, use Hp Elec, if it isn't then go with Ice Beam. Vaporeon can take Draco's from Mence well now and can take outrages magnificiently and be able to wish stall. Just make sure they don't have Dragon Dance and you will be fine. Just play cautiously at all times.

Metagross - I don't like how bulky it is. I think that if you wanna use Metagross, use it as a Agility Life Orber and make it hit everything as hard as possible. Prepare for that Arcanine rampage, make sure that he has nothing with high health. Don't do anything fancy.

Metagross @ Life Orb
- Adamant
252 Atk, 252 speed, 4 hp
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Agility
- Thunder Punch

This set works fine and will hit everything that gets hit by it and switches into it hard. Agility makes it surpass a plethora of pokemon in speed and not very many pokes that aren't walls can take these hits lightly. Even Skarm will be hurting from a thunderpunch and will be crying from a +1 Tpunch.

Like I mentioned, play smart. As for your rotom/metagross problem. Personally I suggest Scarfed Tyranitar as it can take Mags hits well, trap Latias who can have a field day with your team and takes out a myriad of other pokemon you can have a tough time with. This was just a quick glance at your team and nothing too deep. I hope you take my suggestions into consideration. I didn't wanna re-do your team by taking everything apart because you obviously wanted to use these pokemon. I just simply re-did the sets so you can set up for that Arcanine sweep of yours. Oh, another thing, think about adding a stealth rocker into your team. If you wanna re-do it some more with different pokemon, just ask in PM and I will assist you.

- Stone!

Hey Shadow, nice team!

You lack a proper revenge killer and because of that, i'd second the idéa of ScarfT-Tar:

248.png
@ Choice scarf
Jolly nature
EV: 252 Atk 252 Spe

Stone edge
Crunch
Earthquake
Fire punch/Aqua tail/Pursuit

I also second the idéa of that lead set.

Good luck
