The World Wide Sticky Web

Hey all,

After leaving competitive pokemon back in Gen 4, I decided to come back for Gen 6. After a couple months of lurking and team drafting, I've finally created a team that is fun to play with. I've also been winning with it a lot on Showdown, so that's good, too ;)

Anyways, here is my Sticky Web team!

Galvantula@Focus Sash
Compound Eyes
Timid
252SpA 252Spe 4SpD
Bug Buzz
Thunder
Volt Switch
Sticky Web

Galvantula is the most important part of my team. It needs to get sticky web out or I'm going to have lots of problems. That's why I have it hold a Focus Sash. Bug Buzz takes care of Magic Bounce Espeon, Xatu and M-Absol. Despite being relatively frail, Galvantula is usually able to pull off a KO before it faints. I feel like I should stick Energy Ball in here somewhere, but I like Thunder's accuracy and Volt Switch's ability to damage on the switch.

Togekiss@Leftovers
Serene Grace
Timid
128HP 128SpA 252Spe
Air Slash
Roost
Aura Sphere
Dazzling Gleam

Togekiss is a boss with Sticky Web support. With the speed drop, Togekiss can outspeed base 140. It can also tank right through super effective hits with its high Special Defense and above-average Defense while Roosting as necessary. With a 4x resistance to Fighting attacks, Kiss can switch in to the immense amount of fighting attacks that Bisharp and Hydreigon are going to draw. Air Slash and Dazzling Gleam for flinch hax/STAB and Aura Sphere for ice, rock and steel coverage.

Bisharp@Assault Vest
Defiant
Jolly
128Atk 128Def 252Spe
Iron Head
Brick Break
Psycho Cut
Sucker Punch

Bisharp is my physical sweeper. Under Sticky Web, he outspeeds base 125. For anything faster, there's always Sucker Punch. With high Defense and an Assault Vest, he can take a beating (unless that beating is a STAB Earthquake or a fighting move). I originally had Knock Off instead of Psycho Cut, but I realized that Psycho Cut gave me fighting coverage. Iron Head is there for STAB and Brick Break for coverage.

Hydreigon@Life Orb
Levitate
Timid
56Atk 200SpA 252Spe
Fire Blast
Flash Cannon
U-turn
Draco Meteor

Hydreigon is arguably my hardest hitter. He also outspeeds a jolly Ninjask. After a Draco Meteor, I usually U-turn out to get rid of the Special Attack decrease. Flash Cannon is there for fairies and Fire Blast is there because I realized I didn't have a single fire attack on my team. Hydreigon pairs pretty well with Togekiss, as Kiss will gladly take bug, fighting and dragon attacks for him. He also can help out Galvantula with a resistance to fire and flash cannon for rock types.

Tentacruel@Black Sludge
Clear Body
Bold
252HP 240Def 16Spe
Rapid Spin
Scald
Toxic Spikes
Sludge Bomb

Tentacruel plays the role of tank for me, but can sweep if necessary due to its already high speed. Because I tend to switch a lot, I have rapid spin there to mitigate hazards. Toxic spikes allows me to stall a little bit with Togekiss as well as to deter my opponent from switching as much.

MegaBanette_zps4336b306.png

Mega-Banette@Banettite
Frisk/Prankster
Jolly
252HP 252Atk 4SpD
Sucker Punch
Shadow Claw
Will-O-Wisp/Taunt
Destiny Bond

Even though practically nobody uses M-Banette, I've found him to be very useful on this team. A sucker punch from a base 165 attack is going to hurt, with or without STAB. Whenever a revenge-killer comes in, I use priority destiny bond to take them down with me. If I guessed wrong and they didn't KO me that turn, I use shadow claw (my only non-priority move) to either ensure destiny bond works or I get an extra attack in on them. I originally ran taunt over Will-O-Wisp, but I felt like I was barely using taunt and thought Will-O-Wisp would help me last longer.
In general, M-Banette can turn the tide of a battle for me. When the opponent brings out their Mega, I can simply take it out with a well-timed destiny bond.

The biggest threat that my team faces are priority users, especially Talonflame. M-Banette is useless, Galvantula is usually already KO'd and Bisharp gets burned alive. I usually try to counter him with Tentacruel, but with mixed results.

From what I understand, this seems like a fairly unconventional team. But I like teams that are a bit gimmicky. If you have any advice on how I could make this team better, let me know!
