Introduction:
Hello. This is my third RMT I have posted here and it is, in my opinion, the best team I have made. I don’t ladder very often so it hasn’t been on the leaderboard or anything special, but it has the highest win-loss ratio of all my teams. Currently I cannot think of any way to improve it, so I brought it here in hopes that the minds of Smogon can help this team reach its full potential. Without further delay, here is my team.
From there I added Latias onto the team. I have had very good experiences with Latias in the past, and its type and stats made it a perfect defensive compliment to this core. It also allowed me to occasionally sweep teams with Calm Mind.
It was here I added the forgotten threat of 4th gen, Salamence. Aside from being a beast, it is an excellent wall breaker and synergizes very well with Latias, weakening many of its checks. Intimidate is also an extremely valuable asset to Salamence, and helps out Skarmory check fighting types.
From here I didn’t know what else to put on the team, so I tested it out and found that Reiuniclus absolutely raped me. Latias was a decent check, but a smart player with one could just play around it. I then added Scizor. Not only did Scizor make a great check to Reiuniclus, but its Bullet Punches were great for revenge killing.
Thundurus got banned, which diminished the need for Gastrodon. It was still a great team member, but no longer could I justify its use over Rotom-w or Jellicent. Both would go well with my team, but I decided to use Jellicent for its better defensive capabilities and Recover. Access to Taunt didn’t heart either.
A Closer Look:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Evs: 252 HP/4 SAtk/252 SDef
Nature: Calm
-Lava Plume
-Toxic
-Roar
-Stealth Rock
Heatran is my Stealth Rocker and my main answer to Lati@s, sun, and Jirachi. Its moveset is fairly standard, Lava Plume is for stab and random burns, Stealth Rocks are Stealth Rocks, Toxic is great for crippling Lati@s and the other bulky waters that switch into Heatran, and Roar is for phazing. Max Hp and SDef is fairly standard and allows Heatran to take many hits. Not much else to say about it; it’s standard and solid.
Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Ability: Sturdy
Evs: 252 Hp/232 Def/20 Def
Nature: Impish
-Brave Bird
-Spikes
-Roost
-Whirlwind
I just love Skarmory this gen. It just sets up Spikes and Whirlwinds away physical attackers like a champ. This poke is imperative to my team’s success, as without it I would be swept by so many threats. The Evs are, again, fairly standard. Max health and defense is to take as many physical hits as possible, with a small investment in speed. Spikes are Spikes, Roost is for recovery, Whirlwind is for phazing, and Brave Bird is for when I need to attack something. Once again, standard set.
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Evs: 248 Hp/216 Def/44 Spe
Nature: Bold/Calm
-Scald
-Taunt
-Recover
-Will-O-Wisp
Now onto Jellicent. This is one of my favorite pokes to use, it just does everything. It spreads status and taunts everything and then recovers all its health to do it again. Scald is the attack of choice, it has stab and gets random burns, and combined with Will-o-Wisp spreads burns very effectively. Taunt is great against so many different pokes, not to mention it’s just plain annoying to face. Recover is for, well, recovery. All in all Jellicent is solid and a great part to my team, but I would be willing to replace it, as out of all my team members, this is probably the weakest link.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
Evs: 120 Hp/136 Atk/252 SDef
Nature: Adamant
-Bullet Punch
-U-turn
-Pursuit
-Superpower
Scizor is an interesting case on my team. It is by far the least used, however it certainly is one of the most important, stopping Reiuniclus from sweeping me and by Bullet Punching any threats that get too many boosts on me; it’s pretty much a safety check that happens to check Reuniclus quite well. It’s a banded set with high Evs in special defense to better switch into Lati@s, Reuniclus, and Gengar when the need arises.
Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Evs: 76 Atk/252 SAtk/180 Spe
Nature: Rash
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Roost
-Brick Break
This is a monster. No other way to say it. Most people expect it to be a physical dd set, then get nailed in the face with a Draco Meteor. Oftentimes, even if they switch into a steel, I can procede to kill them anyway with Fire Blast or Brick Break. It’s a great wall breaker and synergizes well with Latias, as oftentimes people need to use all their resources and steels to beat Salamence, freeing Latias to clean up. Intimidate is also an amazing ability. Not only does it allow Salamence to switch in easier, but it also allows it to play a role in the defense of my team. Oftentimes, when a physical poke will kill one of my pokes, I will send in Salamence for the intimidate, then send in the appropriate check, usually Skarmory. The set is fairly self explanatory; it hits hard with Draco Meteor, with Fire Blast and Brick Break as good mixed coverage. Roost is especially useful for recovering off residual damage and any other damage Salamence may have accumulated. Overall, an extremely devastating poke.
Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Evs: 252 Hp/4 SAtk/252 Spe
Nature: Timid
-Dragon Pulse
-Recover
-Substitute
-Calm Mind
Latias is the final member of this team. The first thing you may notice is that my Latias uses Substitute, an unusual choice on Latias. In my opinion, the only thing that can be better than Substitute is Roar, but I have enough phazers as it is and I don’t need to Roar out Reiuniclus after Calm Minding. Substitute is great for setting up, as I can set up on status users, and early game I can use it to scout and block Pursuit if necessary. Also, if I can get an intact Substitute and enough Calm Minds, it is a great help for Latias, as it does not have to worry about scarfers and priority. All this time I have been talking about Latias’ use as a sweeper, though most of the time it is used in my defensive core throughout the game, recovering health as it needs to. This is irreplaceable, though I may be willing to try a new set if necessary.
Conclusion:
Hope you all enjoyed my RMT, if you have any suggestions please post, as I am completely out of ideas with this team. Feel free to steal this team, but if you do, I ask that you post any feedback as it would be very helpful. Thank you for reading and hopefully rating.

Team Building:
In one of my previous teams, I used the Skarmory, Gastrodon, Heatran core, and it worked beautifully, so I wanted to try to make a team that better utilized this core.
