There's a bug in the system. A mono-type bug team.

This team was inspired by one of the people in #trivia on PO who also got me into Touhou abit. By far my most successful team in OU, i'm horrendous at building teams and just somehow i've manage to get ladder well on po, but i'll try on smogon soon.

Forretress (F) @ Red Card
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Earthquake/Gyro Ball
- Rapid Spin
Well here's my lead. Main job is to spin Stealth Rocks for Yanmega, Volcarona and Crustle. It's very, very important, since this is a mono-bug team that get's destroyed by rocks. I also try to set up sr, to break any Sturdy pokemon. Earthquake is there for magnezone but I don't bump into them that often. Red card is there for people who think they can set up in fortress's face then just get trolled when red card activates and normally I set up all my hazards by that time allowing scizor after 1 sd sweep most pokemon.
ninjanerd10- I don't find the need to put a shed shell on fortress because most of the time I don't run into magnezone at all and it'll be a waste of an item most of the time. The only reason why I put earthquake there because i'm unsure about should it be there or not, but earthquake is a could asset against heatran who severely dents my team.

Crustle (F) @ Red Card
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Shell Smash
- Flail
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
Before anything is said, this is mah crustle set, and I did not steal it~! This was inspired by the dugtrio set by someone else made whom I cannot name because I simply forgot.
CRUSTLE IS A BEAST GEE GEE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyjQw4kIP8s). After one shell smash it does quite a bit a damage to foes, specially when foes attack it and it's left at 1 hp. After two SS it's basically good game at 1 hp with no priority pokes left it just wrecks teams except to dedicated def walls such as skarmory, gliscor, hippowdon, donphan and evo chansey. Rock blast is there to break subs. Red card is here for additional shuffling that I really need just in case If I somehow I let my opponent to set up to a point that's very threatening.
ninjanerd10-mach punch is not even that common... well where I play atleast, extremespeed and bullet punch are way more common. If you think about it battle wise than on paper, you'll understand for yourself that most of the time when crustle get's hit it's down to <33% of its hp most of the time. I would run the x-scissor but this team is full of bug types with those stabs, hence me running flail and taking that chance.
637.png

Volcarona (F) @ Chesto Berry
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Rest
Bulky Restochestocarona. My main special sweeper. I don't understand how but I manage to set up a lot with this threatening poke. With a chance of hax fiery dance increases my spa acting kind of like moxie. I also use volcarona as a spd wall if you will especially with those pesky fire attacks around everywhere.
ninjanerd10- Morning sun is a good idea on paper once again, but when you look at the amount of weather teams are out... it's an unreliable recovery move plus the many times I get hit with toxic that volcanora hates a lot.
469Yanmega.png

Yanmega (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd-SAtk)
- Giga Drain
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power [Rock]
Yanmega is there just as a filler for special attacks, and it fits the role really well. Though it may lack a bit of speed, it hits hard, especially to foes who love to bring in their pokes on a resisted attacks but then realize there's no speed boost afterwards and wonder why my attacks are so strong. I'm not sure what kind of hp to use.
ninjanerd10- being modest makes me unable to outspeed rotom-w which is a trouble for my team spamming hydropump.
DarkLight- I'll try your suggestion, once I figure out what my team has trouble with.
170px-214Heracross.png

Heracross (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
-Night Slash/Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn
Revenge killer number one as well as a status absorber. Hits hard and it's fast. I don't know what to say about hera but he works well when I have all hazards up.
ninjanerd10- I guess i'll take your suggestion here since i've lost to mono-ghost team in a tournament, which revealed to how weak I am to defensive ghosts.
20090718014236%21212Scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Metal Coat
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
All out attacking scizor, oh how much you saved my butt in the most dire of times. If you don't know scizor punches hard, really hard, so hard that after one sword dance most of the metagame is dented. Also I chose metal coat over life orb because I don't like losing hp, specially when scizor is at low hp after taking a hit to be able to sword dance.
ninjanerd10- I refuse to use life orb, once again it's paper versus actually using it, read what I said at the bottom.

20090719042446%21205Forretress.png

Forretress (F) @ Shed Shell
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Rapid Spin
Gyro Ball is powerful STAB and should be run over Earthquake, and if Shed Shell replaces Red Card, Earthquake is not necessary. If something tries to set up on Forretress, switch.
180px-558Crustle.png

Crustle (F) @ White Herb
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Shell Smash
- X-Scissor
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
White Herb cancels out the defense fall from Shell Smash, letting it survive priority like Mach Punch. Flail only really works if Sturdy has activated, whereas X-Scissor is a strong STAB attack that hits Psychics and Darks.
637.png

Volcarona (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Morning Sun
Volcarona appreciates Leftovers more than a single RestoChesto, with Morning Sun being a more reliable recovery move, whether in clear skies or sunlight.
469Yanmega.png

Yanmega (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest (+Spd, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power Ground
Timid nature doesn't really outspeed anything important, but Modest gives the extra power needed to KO even Heatran and Skarmory in 2-3 hits. HP Ground hits aforementioned Heatran, Electrics, and other types for coverage, and has good coverage with the other moves.
170px-214Heracross.png

Heracross (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Pursuit/Night Slash
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn
I'd run Pursuit over Earthquake. Otherwise, Jellicent walls this, resisting all attacks. It also hits Psychics with better accuracy.
20090718014236%21212Scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
Run Life Orb over Metal Coat to boost all-around attack power. Otherwise, seems pretty solid.

Yanmega - Pick a Pokémon your team doesn't like and that Yanmega outspeeds. Use a Super Effective Hidden Power for that one Pokémon. Yanmega+Tinted Lens+Stab=Technically perfect coverage.

I'd really try to run a Final Gambit Accelgor, since most mono teams have the weakness of only a single poke being able to ruin your game. But since I not a specialist when swaping pokes, I'm not sure which team member could be swapped with him. I bet Accelgor is worth a try.

Accelgor (M) @ Focus Sash/Leftovers
Trait: Sticky Hold
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SAtk / 136 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
-Bug Buzz
- Final Gambit
- Spikes
- Recover

with 396 Spd it can outspeed everything non-scarfed, and even some +1 Spd. You could even try a Choice Scarf in it, making him almost a one-for-one trade.
