This is my first proper team I've built that has had success on the ladder, so I thought I'd post a RMT to get some help working the kinks out. Not much of a forum wizard so sorry if the layout isn't up to scratch.

The Team

Mega Kangaskhan

Mephisto And Kevin (Kangaskhan) (F) @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Return
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch

Perfect lead for the team, inner focus over scrappy because fake out is more common than TR, and with Diancie around now as well as Aromatisse and Cresselia there is no promise that the TR setter will be ghost. Return is standard STAB, drain punch over power up punch for damage/healing and ice punch because it catches a lot of stuff off guard.

I use 252 HP/Atk and 4 Speed instead of the normal 252 speed set, as I prefer the extra bulk and damage, it may not be best suited for mega khan but it has worked for me, coming off better from an opposing Khan using drain punch and outspeeding me, only to be hit by a more powerful punch that negates his heal and the damage to me.

Landorus - T

Harold Of The Rocks (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Rock Slide
- Superpower

Not much to say here, the standard Lando set. I usually lead with it to scout with U-turn and intimidate the opposing players using Mega Khan as it is a common lead. All the standard coverage moves in EQ, Rock slide and superpower.

Shaymin Sky

Green Ranger (Shaymin-Sky) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Protect

This is the guy I wanted to build the team around, after I noticed its amazing defensive synergy with Heatran. Offensively it's nothing to laugh at, with fairly good coverage and good flinch chance from STAB air slash, its my answer to Amoonguss and Breloom throwing spore around, which is a problem for this team. Seed flare usually OHKO's Rotom W, and is the answer to Azumarill and Gastrodon (when the damn thing hits). Earth power can finish off a heatran that doesn't have any reliable switches left, and the electric types carrying HP ice that Lando and Skymin hates.

Sylveon
Tommy The Cat (Sylveon) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Hyper Beam
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Truck incoming. Always love how hard Sylv hits, I rarely have to use any moves outside of hyper voice. Psyshock is to deal with Chansey/Blissey or anything weak to it. HP ground is rarely used and more of a security measure. Anything Pulls wide guard, or is a massive immediate threat, specs pixilate hyper beam will take it down or put a huge dent in it.

The main talking point here is I run 252 HP over 252 Speed, as Sylv isn't outspeeding much anyway, and I wanted it to live longer. The low speed and psyshock allows it to be another TR counter using psyshock on Amoonguss given heatran is present to ensure the kill, as it can only sleep one.

Heatran

Sgt. Baker (Heatran) (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 176 HP / 252 SpA / 80 Spe
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Earth Power
- Ancient Power
- Protect

Heatran works awesome with Skymin, taking out plenty of threats like Talonflame, Amoonguss, Charizard Y and other Heatran that aren't using Shuca berry. Heat wave is the standard spread STAB, I don't have much luck with the burn chance but the damage is good. Earth power is coverage and to ensure other Heatrans don't wall me. I use ancient power instead of flash cannon because I hate getting walled by Zard Y, Talonflame and other annoying flying types.
Rotom - Wash

Electric Uncle Sam (Rotom-Wash) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 128 SpD / 128 Spe
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Protect

Support washing machine with great bulk. Can live a solarbeam from timid Zard Y if it needs to, and burns physicals. Pretty standard set, dual STABs and a status that compliments its EVs. I have also used will o wisp on Heatran to trigger flash fire when I needed the extra damage, which is useful.

Conclusion

The team has worked very well for me, peaking 5 on the ladder. I just feel like it could be improved and as teambuilding isn't my strong point I wanted some advice on what could work better. Sorry if this is pretty basic, its 8am and forum presentation goes out the window at this point :/

Thank yous to everyone in the doubles room for helping me improve greatly, and shout out to Pinoy Pwnage for reqqing me over and over until I found a team that could hang with his.

hey v solid team
have you considered moonblast>hyper beam
the thing that wideguards the most (hitmontop) dies to moonblast anyways
and 24 phys def on rotom-w to guarantee survival from mega mawile play rough. your team dosen't look like it has trouble with mawile, but you seem like you have a lot of speed creep on rotom that you could just throw into phys def

and you pretty much peaked 1 bc you can't break the pomozone jsyk ;]

I was using moonblast, I swapped to hyper beam on some advice from the chat but the recharge has been killing me so I'll try swapping it back.

The Def EVs on Rotom are a good idea that I'll change immediately, the speed creep was again on advice from chat but its JUST too fragile against mega Khan so I'll try that too.

Also looking for advice on sylv's EVs as it still seems frailer than it should be, might just be me though. And I will break the Pomozone one day ;)

not something im sure would be better, but i just want you to think about 0- speed sylveon as it gets a chance to underspeed aegislash :]

Congrats to your ladder success, Spacebass96. Just a few comments on your spread.

The bulkiest Kanga spread I've used is 128 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 12 SpD / 112 Spe. I think that is an important Speed benchmark, as it lets Kangaskhan to be faster than Breloom after Mega Evolving. Being faster than Bisharp and Tyranitar on the turn you Mega Evolve is also clutch. 128 HP gives Kangaskhan 383 HP, which minimizes residual damage (1 point away from being divisible by 16). The 16 EVs in Def / SpD is arbitrary.

Landorus-T doesn't really need all that Speed if it's Scarfed. The fastest mon it would ever really need to outrun is Timid Manectric (405). 216 Atk / 84 Def / 208 Spe; Adamant Nature. Landorus-T's Speed reaches 406 Speed with those Speed EVs. 216 Atk EVs to gain 2 Atk points for 4 EVs (416 -> 418). The rest is pumped into Defense, which gives Landorus-T 93.7% chance at surviving +1 LO Bisharp's Sucker Punch (as opposed to 43.7% survival rate with your current spread).

I recommend at least 76 SpA EVs onto Rotom-W to guarantee an OHKO on 4 SpD Landorus-T.

I would personally pump Heatran's Speed another 2 points to ensure that it wins the speed creep versus most Rotom-W.

I want to suggest 56 HP / 200 Def / 252 SpA for your Sylveon. This allows Sylveon to survive Mega Kangaskhan's Return. This spread even gives Sylveon ~68% chance to survive an unboosted Iron Head from Bisharp. Incidentally, Timid Mega Gengar's Sludge Bomb just misses an OHKO even with this spread.

Thanks pocket, that is pretty much exactly what I was looking to improve.

With the Breloom speed setting, do you mean it will outspeed on the mega evolve turn or the following turn? Just to clarify.

Will try it out now and see how it works.

Very interesting team, Spacebass :)

A few thoughts / ideas:

Kangaskhan
- Low Kick over Drain Punch is a move I've enjoyed using on Mega Kanga since it nets the OHKO on Heatran and common 4 HP Jolly Mega-Kangaskhan, and is definitely worthy of some consideration

Sylveon
- I feel Specs Sylveon has a lot of trouble without speed control support as it gets outsped by a lot of threats. A set I've been using quite a bit that helps with that somewhat is:

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Trait: Pixilate
EVs: 212 HP / 116 Def / 180 SpA
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Hidden Power Ground
- Calm Mind
- Protect

Basically lives a Mega Kangaskhan Return with the defensive investment with the rest packed into SpA. This set doesn't hit as hard from the get go but Calm Mind can remedy that if you are given the opportunity to use it, and at +1 SpD special attacks barely phaze Sylveon. The basic idea with this set is that thanks to Protect is lasts far longer and can block Fake Outs and what not, which is great. I think this set is definitely worthy of consideration on your team as Kangaskhan's Fake Out support assists it considerably, and having Protect on Sylveon also helps with stalling out Trick Room which is something I can see this team struggling with.

Rotom-W
- Why built to take a CharY Solarbeam? I don't see any reason to really aim for that when Heatran walls a majority of them and those that do opt for Focus Blast (which cannot OHKO unless the Charizard is Modest max SpA, which only OHKOs 18% of the time) die to Kangaskhan since they lack Overheat or Fire Blast to OHKO it. I honestly think a spread with more investment in physical defense is optimal on this team. A favorite of mine is 252 HP / 52 Def / 112 SpA / 88 SpD / 4 Spe with a Bold Nature, which tanks a Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor and an Adamant Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge while hitting harder than most Rotom nowadays (notably OHKOing 44 HP Landorus-T 100% of the time).

Kyle, I've been using your Rotom spread, it's done better than the one I was using, I'm going to test Nollans now and see how that works.

Put double edge on Khan to much success, and am going to try Nollans Sylv spead now.

Thanks for the help guys.
