After a small discussion in a firebot thread i realized that it was about time a mother/earthbound thread was created. this thread will discuss everything mother/earthbound related (I'm going to call it the Mother series from now on). feel free to talk about everything from how you got into the series to the complex themes of Mother 3 to how much getting the sword of kings was a giant pain in the butt.
The way I was introduced to the mother series was through my favorite let's player chuggaaconroy. after seeing his let's play on mother 3 I decided I wanted to know more about the series. So eventually downloaded earthbound (I eventually got it legitimately when it came out on the Wii u). Aad played it for the first time and after that i was hooked on the series. Although i haven't beaten mother one i will eventually (but i have seen a lets play on it). and now i have played earthbound 4 times and mother 3 twice.
Something interesting that I have not seen much of is analysis on Mother 3 themes. In Mother 3 we see that when technology is introduced into the town while the town is prospering at a faster level the people aren't really happy. I think Itoi was making reference to today's society and how advances in society might look good but really cause terrible thing like whole families being torn apart. I know that might seem like an obvious theme but i just wanted to throw it out there to discuss what Mother 3 really meant by that.
So again feel free to discuss anything Mother related. All I have left to say is Fuzzy pickles!
