Uxie (?) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Hp / 228 Def / 28 Spe
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- Energy Ball
- Toxic

Uxie starts things off nicely by getting hazards up and hopefully crippling some shit with Toxic. Basically Uxie was chosen when I already had the other 5 pokemon and the team was really fighting and ground weak, so I was in dire need of a bulky Ghost or Psychic type…I originally wanted to lead with Specs Rotom but that would mean I’d have to put SR on Registeel which I wanted to avoid, as I like it better as a status absorber/sweeper. So instead I fell on Uxie, who doubles as a great physical wall and defensive partner for Registeel. Toxic may seem odd on this set but it makes a ton of would-be switch-ins think twice before coming in, especially the ground types who switch in expecting to absorb a Thunder Wave. The 28 EVs in speed allow Uxie to outrun Jolly Torterra and Toxic it, which is important since LO Torterra can dismantle this team if given the chance to set up.

Registeel (?) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Hp / 40 Atk / 216 SpDef
Careful Nature (+SpDef, -SpAtk)
- Curse
- Iron Head
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

With Venusaur being on 90% of the teams I was facing I needed a sure-fire counter, and Registeel fit the bill perfectly. The giant slab of braille is my switch into almost every threatening special sweeper; Mismagius, Venusaur, Alakazam…this thing can just take so much abuse it’s ridiculous. As the cherry on top, Curse allows it to turn into an offensive beast as well, setting up one of the many pokemon it walls and becoming incredibly hard to kill. Seriously, Cro Registeel is a forgotten threat in this metagame, and when given the chance to set up it can completely run through unprepared teams.

Lanturn (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 Hp / 192 Def / 100 SpAtk / 176 SpDef
Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave

I was getting sick of using Milotic on every team I made, and so I started looking for something that could take its place while not being complete setup bait for Venusaur. Lanturn just happens to be a very underrated yet viable pokemon in this F/W/G dominated metagame, as it has no trouble switching into 2/3 of that core, and Grass types have to be wary of switching in due to the threat of Thunder Wave and Ice Beam. Anyways, this thing starts off my own F/W/G core as my main switch into Fire and Water types such as Milotic, Arcanine, Moltres…you get the idea. Lanturn’s greatest weakness is probably its lack of reliable recovery, but in most matches I’ve had it has been able to stay alive long enough to do its job. The EVs were ripped straight from the analysis, with the addition of 40 speed EVs to outrun Adamant Rhyperior and 0 speed Hitmontop, but if there’s a better spread out there, feel free to me know.

Torterra (F) @ Life orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpAtk)
- Earthquake
- Wood Hammer
- Synthesis
- Rock Slide

I’ve always been a fan of Sub +3 Attack Torterra, but I decided to give this set a try and its fucking amazing. Torterra takes advantage of the bulky Ground types that come in to stop Registeel setting up, mainly Donphan, Steelix, and Rhyperior, and tears shit up with its powerful stab attacks. Earthquake and Wood Hammer are two incredibly powerful attacks, and backed up with stab and life orb there’s nothing that can take two neutral hits without being severely damaged or KOed. Rock Slide is of course to hit Altaria and Moltres, and although the former is only 2HKOed, it’s still better than having Stone Edge missing 9/10 times. Max attack and speed with a Jolly nature allows Torterra to outrun Milotic and KO it with Wood Hammer before it even gets a chance to Ice Beam me, and the power lost by using Jolly isn’t really that notable anyway.

Tauros (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpAtk)
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Payback
- Return

Tauros was put on the team more for the lolz than anything, but it has proven to be highly useful on many occasions as a support pokemon / late-game cleaner. Tauros does an excellent job of weakening walls that hinder my other pokemon from sweeping. For example, 252/56 Bold Weezing takes 47% - 55.7% from Double Edge, a 2HKO with SR. Even if it switches out, it’ll be incapable of walling Torterra, as Wood Hammer will deal a 2HKO to it. Similarly, max/max bold Milotic takes 45.3% - 53.4% from Double Edge, an almost guaranteed 2HKO with SR. With Milotic gone, Ninetales will have its main counter removed, and it should have an easier time sweeping. The moveset is meant to give Tauros the most coverage possible; Earthquake pairs well with Double-Edge, hitting the Rock/Steel types that resist it for super effective damage. Payback nails any ghost not named Spiritomb for the OHKO, and I prefer it to Pursuit because I need to be able to hit them on the switch, and if a Mismagius or Rotom decided to stay in and Will-O-Wisp me Tauros would be crippled for the rest of the match. Lastly, Return is there so I have a stab attack that doesn’t deal recoil to Tauros, as Double-Edge tends to shorten Tauros’ life span significantly.

Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 72 Hp / 216 SpAtk / 220 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Energy ball
- Hidden Power [Rock]

Ninetales has been interesting me for a while now, and I finally got around to making a team with it. Although Ninetales doesn’t quite pose the immediate threat Moltres does, it has a few things going for it. Its base 100 speed makes it the fastest fire type in UU, meaning it can outpace Moltres, Arcanine, Houndoom, Rotom, and all the other pokemon that hang around the 90-95 speed tier. Also, a way to boost its SpAtk (Nasty Plot) is shared only with Houndoom, who is considerably frailer and slower. While it may not seem that significant, Ninetales higher SpDef allows it to survive 0 SpAtk Milotic’s Surf, and 2HKO it with a +2 Energy Ball, something that Houndoom can’t do. The moveset is standard, but with Hidden Power Rock over Hypnosis. This is mainly due to the fact that every fire type walls Ninetales to hell without it, and in case you haven’t noticed I’ve been staying away from moves with low accuracy so as to not give hax the chance to fuck me over. (Hax still does fuck me over a lot, but that’s getting off-topic) Anyways, I only run 220 EVs in speed because HP Rock lowers Ninetales speed IV, so running max to tie with other base 100’s (Miltank?) would be pointless. 220 EVs puts me at 319 speed, enough to outpace base 95’s.

So yeah, that’s the team. It was created mainly as a fun team to get away from all the standard shit that was going around, but it ended up being pretty successful, [sentence removed because Folgorio can't comprehend it]. Besides, if there’s one thing I’ve learned, its that pokemon is not meant to be fun, its serious fucking business.

changes in Bold

hmm the team is really beautifully made. i admire the use of lanturn for your bulky water and you were smart enough to pair it with stuff that would deal with fire-types that would often bypass lanturn. kudos to that canadian. one quick change is ninetales spread - go for 72 HP/216 SpA/220 Spe. this will allow you to survive surf after sr from milotic - quoted from flareblitz since he is the ninetales master. this will help ninetales' overall sweeping prowess!

hey man you seem to have trouble with rock polish rhyperior! what can i say, add energy ball or grass knot over toxic on uxie. not only will this limit a free set up, you can stop those retarded omastars from getting a full set of spikes on your team. toxic is net, but energy ball just seems more useful. overall gl! 5 stars!

Hi.

It's nice to see Ninetails and Tauros in a UU team every once in a while. There isn't much wrong with this team (it's a well built team) and it can handle most of UU just fine with the exception of Rhyperior. Rhyperior is a huge problem for this team. It switches into Registeel, sets up a sub and gets a free kill. For this I'd probably recommend a bulky water to deal with Rhyperior. Azumarill or Milotic should do fine. (Probably over Registeel. You're slightly weaker to Missy and Scyther though.)

Hope I helped and good luck with this team!

Hey, great team! As PK said I love the use of NU's (should be UU's). I think I only got to battle it once. Unfortunately for you I didn't leave home without my subperior; which caused you some trouble. For that reason I am going to go with franky and say use energy ball or GK over either toxic or U-turn on Uxie. This will help as Rhyperior switches into Uxie expecting no problem only to be hit by surprise. With him out of the way you are in really good shape as public enemy number one is out of the way. Once agian great team and congrats on your leaderboard success.

On another note I was wondering however if you ever miss the power from ninetails.

This is a pretty solid team...for a woman.

It does have a couple of issues though. The biggest one I see is Rhyperior. All variants give you significant trouble, but RP and Sub are definitely the worst. Rhyperior has little issue setting up on Uxie and Registeel and can set up on Tauros in a pinch, and you can't do anything about it unless you're willing to sacrifice them (which opens up your team to other threats). With a rock polish, Rhyperior can ohko your entire team with one of its three moves. With a substitute, Rhyperior can ohko one member of it every time it comes in.

Dragon Dance Feraligatr is an equally pressing threat, with the ability to set up on the same Pokemon and with the same ability to ohko every member of your team. Currently, your only hope against these threats is to sacrifice Tauros to Intimidate them, but a smart player will merely switch out after that and finish up the sweep later.

There is a way to solve this issue while still keeping the spirit of your team intact. I would recommend running a TrickScarf Mespirit lead, with the following moveset:

Mespirit @ Choice Scarf
20 HP/252 SpA/236 Spe
Timid
-Stealth Rock
-Grass Knot
-Thunderbolt/Psychic
-U-Turn/Trick

If you don't trick on the first turn like a retard, Mespirit can solve your Rhyperior and Feraligatr issues in one stroke while still providing you with the same resistances and immunities Uxie does (although obviously not the same level of bulk).

This means your team is now a bit more vulnerable to powerful Fighting-type threats like Hitmonlee and Toxicroak, as well as to powerful Ground-type attackers like Torterra and Donphan. You also currently lack a Ghost-type, meaning that Moltres/Scyther/Swellow teams will keep rocks off the field and give you a headache. The best ghost for your team is Bulky Missy:

Mismagius @ Leftovers
252 HP/216 Spe/40 SpA
Timid
-Shadow Ball
-Will o Wisp
-Pain Split
-Taunt

This shuts down pretty much every fighting and ground-type in the tier, although you obviously shouldn't be switching it into Wood Hammer or Assurance. It also helps you out against stall, which this team is currently slightly weak to. Tauros and Lanturn are the least valuable members of your team, so consider replacing one of them.

Oh, and check my new Lanturn spread in C&C. It's a lot better than the current analysis one.

Those are all the recommendations I can think of; good luck with the team!

..noob

Updated OP with changes...Scyther U-Turn teams can be annoying so I'll try out Mismgius, though I'm not happy about losing Tauros...Lanturn is just out of the question since it's my main moltres switch. As for the Mesprit lead idea, that makes me even weaker to Sub Rhyperior so I'll try out Energy Ball Uxie first. Thanks for trying though.

...(BAN ME PLEASE)

Sup RT,

Great team and RMT as always, it has plenty of big threats covered. That huge RP Rhyperior/DD Feraligatr weakness is a bit worrying, so a Scarfed Rotom would be perfect for this team. It provides you with a sort of "glue", and blocks spin, giving you a much easier time with Swellow, Moltres and Scyther. A moveset of Thunderbolt/Shadow Ball/HP Grass/Trick is suitable for your team, although Will-O-Wisp is a viable alternative to cripple Spiritomb while still dealing with Rhyperior to an extent. The Pokemon to replace is a difficult choice, Tauros is a good option.

Great job, 5 stars.

Thanks for the rates people. Energy Ball has replaced U-Turn on Uxie, as Toxic is much too important to pass up imo and U-Turn was there more as a filler than anything else. Scarf Rotom is an interesting idea, I've been testing it and its been doing well most matches, only I've been running into a lot of Pursuit Houndoom/Spiritomb so I'm kind of on the fence with this one.

Hmm well I guess you just have to play a bit conservatively with it. Uxie draws out Spiritomb early and Houndoom is 2HKOed by Thunderbolt, so they shouldn't be too much of a problem with some smart play.

Excellent team RT, I love Lanturn (been using it more than Milotic since day 1) and Tauros, they are very underrated mons.

Anyway, most people have covered what I'm about to say, but there are some things I see that you could hopefully cover more effectively. First and formost, I'll restate the obvious RP Torterra / Aggron / Rhyperior problem you have. The root of this problem is that you have no Speed on this team and no Milotic (for the last two). If you had to remove a Pokemon, I'd say Ninetales could be replaced by a Scarfed Blaziken or Magmortar, or even a CB Azumarill. This way you could easily revenge those 3 sweepers. Or, you could go for Flare Blitz's suggestion.

Additionally, since you lack a way of hitting Absol with anything on Uxie, you would have loads of trouble against it if one was ballsy enough to switch in. It could come in, Swords Dance, and OHKO your entire team with Night Slash, Sucker Punch, or Superpower. A simple switch of Toxic with Thunder Wave or U-turn would fix this, to be honest. You can also semi-play around it with Tauros Intimidate, but to be frank, that's just begging for it to get another Swords Dance.

Anyway this team is great, even the biggest problems can be played around. Good Job RT.
