THIS IS SPARTA !! [OU Bulky Offense]

THIS IS SPARTA !!
(Note: Please bear with the bad English in the upcoming wall of text !)

A little bit about myself

Hello Smogon community, SakuraDaemon here !

And this is my first ever OU Team and I'm back and ready to battle again after a long period of hiatus. The last time I've played is just shortly after the release of B/W 2 and I've still haven't got the chance to play X/Y but I've found out a lot of new stuff (new pokemon and mechanic) after derping for a while on PS. While I know some of the new threats, I still do not know all the ins and outs of the new pokemon and I think the best way to learn is to made a team myself and start playing, and this team is my first step into the world of X/Y.

Without further ado, this is the team which I named 'THIS IS SPARTA !!'

The Team

This teams revolves around a number of bulky pokemon that can take hits and retaliate with a little bit of team support (or at least that's what I want the team to be XD) and also the abuse of intimidate (dayum very good ability).

547-Whimsicott.png

This Is A Cotton Ball (Whimsicott) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 SDef
Nature: Bold
Ability: Prankster

- Taunt
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Stun Spore

Whimsicott will always be my favorite Pokemon, not only it's cute but it can also difficult to take down due to prankster (very annoying !). EVs spread is simple, the spread is to get this cotton ball bulky to be able to at least take some hits. The second fairy typing is really useful against dragons. Mostly I use Whimsicott as a lead to annoy the enemy and scout using substitute or if the opponent's lead Pokemon is not threatening Whimsicott, I usually stun spore him. This, coupled by taunt leech seed and substitute can really force a lot of switches, which means more stun spores for the enemy team. This greatly helps the team because it slows down the enemy and helps my slower Pokemon to out speed the opponent. The great thing about this cotton ball is that once it sets up it becomes really hard for the opponent to stop, sometimes lead to Rage Quits XD. Believe it or not, this little guy destroy a lot of unprepared team once it has set up (including the ever popular mega scizor), The only limitation is the PP of substitute and magic bounce.

645-Landorus-Therian.png

This Is A Dog On Cloud (Landorus-Therian) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Atk / 172 Def / 4 Spd
Nature: Naughty
Ability: Intimidate

- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn

My second Pokemon is the legendary Landorus-Therian. This pokemon serves as an offensive and bulky pivot for my team while reducing the attack of the opponent, it also has stealth rock in it's arsenal to provide support for the team. Immune to Elec-type moves this pokemon has great synergy with Gyarados and both have intimidate to cripple the enemy's physical attacker. the EVs spread is to get Landorus to be able to take physical hits and retaliate with STAB earthquake while also out speed another uninvested Landorus if they have one. Landorus can get out of the fight while still damaging the enemy using u-turn. HP ice is there to kill opponents dragon type while also deal a lot to Gliscor and enemy's Landorus too.

130-Gyarados.png

This Is A Shrimp (Gyarados) @ Leftovers
EVs: 88 HP / 248 Atk / 4 Def / 168 Spd
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Intimidate

- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Bounce

The third spot is taken by the mighty shrimp, the set I'm using is the standard bulky dragon dance Gyarados set. With another intimidate, this Pokemon can take hits very well if it switches to a resisted hit. From there it can proceed to buff himself using dragon dance. Waterfall hits really hard after a boost and Gyarados can out speed most of the enemy team due to support from Whimsicott. A good Pokemon to switch into the likes of Heatran, Scizor or even breloom as it out speeds it. Taunt is there to prevent Pokemon such as Jellicent and Breloom to will-o-wisp or spore Gyarados, it also make sure that the enemy cannot use protect while bounce is used rendering it useless.

700-Sylveon.png

This Is A Cat (Sylveon) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spd
Nature: Calm
Ability: Pixilate

- Wish
- Protect
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell

Sylveon is the only new Gen 6 pokemon that I used in this team. Having pure fairy typing is a blessing due to the amount of resistance it provides. This little cat is the main cleric of this team, doing the same role as the infamous Pink Blob, Blissey. I chose the cat due to its better resistance and better offensive presence than Blissey. Sylveon is also able to destoy most dragon types such as a choice locked outrage on nite, mence or chomp. Combination of heal bell and wish+protect is also what separates it from Blissey. The EV spread is to increase the HP it can pass using wish and also the 92 into speed allows it to outpace an uninvested base 70 pokemon such as Breloom, Politoed and Bisharp.

303-Mawile.png
303-Mawile-Mega.png

THIS IS SPARTA !! (Mawile) @ Mawilite
EVs: 128 HP / 252 Atk / 128 Spd
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Intimidate

- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance
- Substitute

This is the true terror of the team, and the only one in the team that is honored by the title 'SPARTA', ripping apart enemy team like paper if it does not resist it. With intimidate, setting up is easy compared to other setup sweeper, and the new typing makes Mawile really hard to counter if the enemy does not have a strong Pokemon that is able to kill it asap. Unprepared team get wrecked easily if the SPARTANS have somehow managed to set up. The EV spread and nature allows Mawile to hit like a truck, OHKO faster Pokemon such as Latios and gengar with sucker punch. Switching Pokemon only makes matter worse for the enemy as it can set up a substitute making it more destructive. The only drawback of Mawile is the lack of speed, which is supported by Whimsicott's stun spore.
485-Heatran.png

What The Hell Is This Thing ? (Heatran) @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Nature: Modest
Ability: Flash Fire

- Overheat
- Dragon Pulse
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

The only fast Pokemon in the team (well kinda.. scarf lol), steel types is full stop to Mawile and Heatran melts all of them. While providing revenge killing abilities, Heatran also provide a handy amount of resistance that the team lacks, most notably Fire, Poison, and Ice. The EVs spread is very straight forward, all is spent on speed and Sp.A to maximize revenge killing ability. Handy against Bisharp and Venusaur lacking earthquake which the other teammate have a hard time against, Heatran provide a nice role that is fit to this team needs. Overheat is for raw fire damage, dragon pulse is useful against dragon type as well as decent coverage, earth power is for other Heatran and HP fight is for Bisharp, Tyranitar and ballooned Heatran.

And VOILA, that's my first ever OU team that I made in Gen 6.

Known Threat List so far:

Bisharp: Sometimes this guy is annoying but Heatran usually take care of it, mostly due to defiant and there is so many intimidate on my team so I cannot switch in carelessly.
Pinsir: Heatran, or intimidate.
[updated] Cloyster: Most annoying thing on earth like really XD cannot be walled by whimsicott, although it can paralyze it and then teammate can switch it to lower its attack value to a non a dangerous level then proceed to kill it (still easier said then done). Substitute variant is even more dangerous to the team.
Venusaur: Worse than Cloyster, STAB Sludge bomb to hit Sylveon and Whimsicott super effectively, cannot be paralyzed using stun spore, And fast as hell under sun and neutral to fire once mega. A pain to fight against but Heatran can barely check since it has the possibility to run earthquake.
Talonflame: Heatran can switch in easily after a in intimidate from teamates and wear it down, but still it is going to leave a dent in my team
Sableye: This guy cannot touch whimsicott, but still if it manages to taunt me on the switch then it is really hard since it needs to be out predicted.
Lucario: Heatran, but still a dangerous threat, Whimsicott need to cripple this guy out.
Empoleon: Annoying as hell since it's STAB flash cannon hurt my teams, but a little but of prediction and sacrifice should be enough to deal with this guy. But still a very dangerous threat to the team.
Charizard: Stealth rock, and need to predict carefully on the move its going to use.
[added] Azumarill: Belly drum set can pretty much kill everything on the team once set up, only way to kill it is Whimsicott by sub seed method, although after some intimidates, Landorus can survive an aqua jet from full HP and proceed to damage it with earthquake.

The threat list is far from complete but that's all i can think of right now and yeah, I have very little knowledge on gen 6 pokemon right now so far, maybe that's why.

Your input please fellow battler, rater and pro !!!
Oh yes please be harsh !!! XD

I'm not a Pro.
But I'll tell you something that I can see.
Sparta will crumble by the hand of the persian power ranger named Bisharp.

Really if he can set up sword dance even once:

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 108 Def Whimsicott: 733-866 (226.2 - 267.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 344-407 (106.1 - 125.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 88 HP / 4 Def Gyarados: 438-516 (124 - 146.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 164 Def Sylveon: 827-975 (209.8 - 247.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Iron Head vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Mega Mawile: 298-352 (109.1 - 128.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 252 HP / 172 Def Landorus-T: 331-390 (86.6 - 102%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO , 100% after Stealth Rock

He outspeed your faeries and punish them with his Iron Head and sucker punch the other mon away, more than that your team seem made to make it stronger because your intimidate-mon give him another +1(-1 from Intimidate, +2 from Defiant) and the scarf do nothing to a priority move like SP, to take care of him you probably have to add a pokemon with acess to a fight-priority move like Mach Punch(Breloom, Conkeldur, Infernape) and kill him before he set up.

Pinsir, Lucario, Charizard(s), Talonflame and Empoleon can be checked by landorus as they're all weak to Stone Edge or Earthquake, 16 EV in Attack + Adamant nature will be enough to kill them but scarf help you outspeed them.

Sableye is a prankster war you can even switch in because you don't really care about a W'o'W on your mascotte, taunt him(you're faster) and finish him with something else if he don't switch out, but in both cases it's a free set up for Mawile that is also resistent to knock off(I hear mega-stone cannot be knocked off) and Foul Play and responding with a SE Play Rough.

Probably (M-)Venusaur should be faced with Gyarados that's neutral to Giga drain and immune to EQ using Bounce if he switch out to avoid the damage you have at least forced him out.

Cloyster on the other hand is another huge problem for you, Heatran can OHKO it(with invested SpA, after SR damage or after a Shell Smash -2 SpD) , but if cloyster have already use SS once heatran switch in, Heatran will suffer because Cloyster after a set up is faster than Heatran.

+2 252+ Atk Cloyster Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 230-275 (59.5 - 71.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Try to set Stealth rock asap when you see a cloyster on the opponent team help both in killing him and breaking the sash they often have(if they don't have sash they have white herb that remove the SpD malus, unless you're facing a hero with a king's rock equipped to make you finch IRL, or start with whimsicott and taunt him, probably your fluffy mascotte will die but at least it will prevent shell smash so you can switch in heatran more safetly. Or remove the scarf from Heatran and make him another set of move with SR so you can start immediatly with heatran and cook him if the opponent start with cloyster or set SR if he don't.

The Whimsicott set has room for improvement. Like Taunt is going to stop Status Conditions, you do not need Substitute. Encore would be more helpful, making a taunted pokemon that used a support move stuck in an encore, making it useless. Also the EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef with a Bold Nature would work better.

Your big weakness is strong Physical attacks. Landorus doesn't cut it as a Physical Wall, but Hippowdon works very well as one. Here is a Hippowdon set that would work better instead of Landorus:
Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
- Slack Off
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind / Roar
Leftovers + Slack Off = Superb Regeneration. The EV spread is to maximize Hippowdon's Physical Bulk and health. Slack Off is to heal up, Stealth Rock is for Entry Hazard, and Earthquake is for a damaging move. The other reason I took Hippowdon is because it can Roar or Whirlwind. Once Whimsicott is dead, any pokemon can easily setup on your team. Also Baton Passing Chain are growing more common because of Scolipede's new Hidden Ability, and Speed Boost + Baton Pass is not an illegal combination anymore. The best way to use Hippowdon is to switch on a Physical Attacker, set Stealth Rock, do some damage from Earthquake, and then heal right back up.

The rest of the team does not seem to have any problems. The only thing you should change is Mawile's EV spread to 84 Spd / 252 Atk / 168 HP / 4 Def because you only really need to out speed and Substitute on Jellicent (168 HP so you can Substitute 5 times). Also do not expect to be able to out speed Bisharp with Sylveon because 99% of the time, Bisharp has some Speed EVs. Hope I helped :)

EDIT: You should also change the Calm Nature on Sylveon to a Bold one.

Here are some replays with the version of team I did:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-94040013
This is a replay of a match I won.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-94048658
This is one a match a lost. It shows a big weakness on your team neverless of having Landorus or not: Entry Hazard. With no Rapid Spinner or Defogger, your team takes a lot of damage from Entry Hazard because your team is made to switch in and out depending on the pokemon so you can counter it like you see on the replay. I suggest changing Heatran to support Scizor (Scizor with Defog, U-Turn, Bullet Punch, and Roost with 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def, an Impish Nature, and Leftovers. It has most of the resistance that Heatran has, but it hits hard neverless of having Leftovers.

This team could use some serious work. Firstly, whimsicott seems straight up useless. All it does is annoy your opponent, but it will doesn't contribute to the team. I know you should replace whimsicott with something like Banded Terrakion. Terrakion would be extremely helpful because it revenges pinsir, checks bisharp, talonflame, lucario, empoleon, and charizard. The biggest reasons why I want you to run Band is because it is easier to break through skarmory. Skarmory is a huge threat to your team, and running band terrakion would make it a lot easier to deal with. That why i think adding terrakion would be extremely helpful to your team. Next, you should replace Sylevon with defog togekiss. Togekiss gives defog support, which would greatly benefit gyarados and your team. It also has around the same typing besides the added rock and ice weakness, however, i find it bulkier and a better check to dragons in my opinion. Next, I think you should change heatran to a simple Specially Defensive Stealth rock set, to make countering Talonflame easier. Finally, now that you run Stealth rock on heatran I believe you should run a Scarf Lando set. Scarf Lando is a good revenge killer and it checks multiple threats to your team with Stone Edge. It also adds a lot of momentum to your team.
