This team desperately needs some help. Attempt at Mamoswine team.

So basically I was in the mood decided to build this team all be it rushed. I just really like Mamoswine love the way it hits and thought I'd give it a shot. Hoooooo did I fail horribly. Any recommendations would really help lets get into it.

Mamaswine (Mamoswine) (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Stone Edge

The big mama itself Mamoswine (ik very creative nickname). I tried building the team around this mon bc it is insane. It hits like a truck and asks questions later. It's speed isn't horrible but I wanted it more bulky taking more hits and thought really what does it need to outspeed. It's base speed is great itself outspeeding alot of walls and thats kind just it's role. Everything else on the team can go but this is what I want built around.

Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Volt Switch
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt

Offensive Tapu Koko is next and it's kind meh. Really I'm just trying this as an offensive pivot seeing if I prefer it or Zeraora and this thing doesn't stand up. Taunt and Thunderwave were to kinda help it as a piviot and they do come in handy. I still wanted it to hit as hard as it could, so I opted for Thunderbolt instead of Dazzling Gleam along with Volt Switch. It's kinda just too straight forward for me and not getting Moonblast really doesn't help it in my opinion. ]

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 52 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Knock Off
- High Horsepower
- U-turn

All honesty this is my third iteration of this team and here on out I just didn't know what I was doing. Rillaboom honestly another one of my favorites but is just pretty redundant. It's the same concept as Mamoswine. Bulky physical attacker that wrecks shit on sight and asks questions later. It's a bit more versatile with U-turn really but isn't the biggest improvement. Here's where my insanity trying to build this team really kicks in. The 52 speed to exactly out speed the zero speed investment Lando-T THE BIGGEST THREAT OU HAS SEEN IN A WHILE. Yeah I've gone insane incase you couldn't tell.

Hatterene @ Kasib Berry
Ability: Magic Bounce
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 232 HP / 212 Def / 64 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Draining Kiss
- Mystical Fire
- Calm Mind

This Hatterene set is an anti-lead for this team. This is just a mon I really like using and my preferred bulky fair although I am debating it. It checks a lot reall if it can stay healthy it deals with so much. The Kasib berry helps deal with dragpult if it gets out of hand. Mystical fire stops setup mons and helps deal with things like Lele and would be steal checks. Also clefable things it can get plus 6 and after you wreck it with Psyshock you have an unkillable force. Except Heatran but we don't talk about heatran.

Slowking @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Future Sight
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower

My attempt at trying to fit Slowking onto a team is here. Assault vest helps keep it as a special wall and helps it keep offensive pressure with special investment. Future sight is great for forcing out maybe steel or dark types or special walls which is great in theory. With this team though it just doesn't work. It's awkward pivioting into something to take out those walls that isn't itself walled. Flamethrower beam coverage is nice tho.

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- U-turn

Lastly just a standard dragapult. This is by far just the most solid member of the team. Hits hard and hits fast and is just the only thing I could thing to put here. Not much to say here really. It's nice is also kinda the special backbone here. Seeing as the theme was bulky physical attackers it's needed variety. Expirements with physical Dragapult turned out pretty well too but just too many physical attackers.

I just want this to work. Counters to the team where do I even begin. Scarf kartana is just a scoop on spot. Tapu Lele, Volcarona, Kyurem its just never ending. I just want a functional team built around Mamoswine so please help. I've been extremely tired overall using this team and making this thread so idk maybe I'm just fried and making mistakes but doubt it. Here's the paste if you want it for some reason. Idk maybe you're a masochist. https://pokepast.es/8a7fc0af28056123

Hey there, I’m here to give you my thoughts on the team and to propose changes in order to improve it.

Mamoswine :mamoswine: is an interesting Pokemon, having an extremely good dual offensive STAB and using Thick Fat to strengthen its defensive capacities and act as an Ice resist. It can also be a great lead with its access to Stealth Rock (and even Endeavor + Ice Shard if you want to use a Focus Sash set). As you are building on Mamoswine, I will keep this Pokemon in my suggestions and try to propose things that could help him. However, I’m not convinced that Choice Band is the best item even if it’s still an overall great choice. As for the rest of the team, Tapu Koko :tapu koko: is a great offensive pivot but you don’t want to have Taunt and Thunder Wave on this kind of set and you don’t want to be walled by Ground types. Rillaboom :rillaboom: is most of the time a very solid option, but I don’t think it’s the best choice here, struggling against the same Pokemon than Mamoswine and weakening its Earthquake. Hatterene :hatterene: is a cool choice, but it’s hard to find a room for it in a team as there are better Fairy types to use that can heal themselves more consistently or deal with more threats. Examples are Clefable :clefable: or Tapu Fini :tapu fini:. Slowking :slowking: is a great special pivot, but overall and particularly here with Mamoswine, you rather be able to pivot with Teleport and thus you don’t really want to use an Assault Vest here. Finally, Dragapult :dragapult: is a great pick with its Choice Specs set acting as a great form of Speed control and giving another wallbreaker that pairs well with Mamoswine.

Overall, there are some interesting ideas here, but I think that you will struggle with this team mainly because of some suboptimal choices of sets or of Pokemon. Let’s dive into the changes you can try to make this team more viable.

Major changes

:rillaboom: -> :dragonite:: Going for a more defensive change here, but I think you need a Ground immunity and a Defogger. Dragonite :dragonite: is a great choice because of its ability to handle Rillaboom :rillaboom: and Kartana :kartana:, but above all Heatran :heatran: which is often a pain to deal with and can annoy your current team (especially because I’m planning to change Slowking). Here is the classic defensive Dragonite set you can try:

dragonite.gif

Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed / Impish Nature
- Ice Beam / Dual Wingbeat
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Defog

:hatterene: -> :clefable:: Clefable feels just like a better Fairy type here because of its access to a reliable recovery. I think you can run a specially defensive Clefable here to deal with Dragapult :dragapult: and Substitute Kyurem :kyurem:. Wish can be a great choice to heal back Mamoswine :mamoswine: and Knock Off could help as you don’t have any other Knock Off user. Thunder Wave is also an option to slow down things for Mamoswine Here is the set I’m thinking of:

clefable.gif

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Knock Off / Thunder Wave
- Wish

:slowking: -> :slowbro:: With Clefable :clefable: as a Special wall and Dragonite :dragonite: as an Heatran :heatran: check, you can try to use Slowbro :slowbro: here instead of slowking. Future Sigh + Teleport could help your breakers and Slowbro can deal with Urshifu-R :urshifu-rapid-strike: and Melmetal :melmetal: (at first I was thinking of a defensive core with Slowking + Clefable + Mandibuzz but this was way too weak to Melmetal). Here is the classic defensive pivot set:

slowbro.gif

Slowbro @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Future Sight
- Teleport

Minor changes

:mamoswine:: Banded Mamoswine is a big threat, but you rather have a non-lock set here to use it as Rock setter, because your team lacks one. Not being locked also means that when your opponent doesn’t have something like Corviknight :corviknight: or Slowbro :slowbro: you can pressure its team really hard without having to rely too much on predictions. You can choose between Life Orb or Leftovers for the item, choosing between more breaking power or more durability (Metronome could be an interesting choice too). Also, I think you rather have Speed investment to outspeed things like defensive Landorus-T :landorus-therian: and Heatran :heatran:. Here is the set:

mamoswine.gif

Mamoswine @ Leftovers / Life Orb / Metronome
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard

:tapu koko:: You should just use the regular Tapu Koko set with Dazzling Gleam to weaken Ground types like Landorus-T :landorus-therian: and Garchomp :garchomp: and U-turn is an overall better pivoting move than Volt Switch to pivot on the aforementioned Ground types. Roost is often used recover health against defensive Pokémon or on forced switch and brings more utility than Taunt or Thunder Wave. Here is the set you should use in my opinion:

tapukoko.gif

Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- U-turn
- Roost

:dragapult:: This set is fine and I would just suggest Flamethrower over Fire Blast because most the time, I don’t feel that the extra power of Fire Blast is needed and missing may make you lose a lot of momentum, but this is more a subjective suggestion and you can stick up with Fire Blast of you want.

And that’s all for the suggestions, here is the team with these changes, feel free to try it or to implement the changes you like:

Mamoswine @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
- Flamethrower

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Future Sight
- Teleport

Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- U-turn
- Roost

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

- Wish

Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

- Defog

Hope this helps, have a nice day!
