Other This team stinks! PU Hyper Offense

Hey guys ShiningSnivy here for a PU RMT. I felt like making this team after a quick skulk around the smogon pokedex, I found out that Dwebble had a use as a set up Pokemon on hyper offense teams. PU is one of my favorite tiers to play, so I decided to give it a whirl. The team has won its fair share of battles, and also lost its fair share, so if anyone is more versed in hyper offense than I am, I'd love some advice.

In depth:

dwebble.gif

Dwebble (M) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Rock Blast
- Spikes

Dwebble's main use is to set up hazards. Therefore, he is my usual lead. Stealth Rock and Spikes are pretty obvious choices, Knock Off is for utility, and Rock Blast is STAB and can break Focus Sash. Custap is there so I can guarantee at least one layer of hazards and possibly a Knock Off. EVs are spread to capitilize on Dwebbles hazard setting capabilities.

kadabra.gif

Kadabra (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Encore

I don't know about you guys, but Kadabra is one of my favorite Pokes to use in PU. This one's running a fairly standard Magic Guard set with Life orb. Psychic for STAB, Dazzling Gleam and Shadow Ball for coverage, and Encore for utility against slower set-up sweepers. Max Special Attack and Speed allow Kadabra to outspeed many things and hit them hard while doing so. I also went with Timid over Modest because I think the Life Orb makes up for the loss on Special Attack, and extra Speed is always nice

barbaracle.gif

Barbaracle (M) @ White Herb
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Razor Shell
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Ah Barbaracle. One of the better Shell Smashers imo. So I of course decided to capitalize on that. Shell Smash boosts stats while White Herb takes care of the lowered defenses. Razor Shell and Stone Edge are the best STAB options, with Earthquake for coverage. Max Attack and Speed are pretty obvious for the EV spread. Barbaracle also compliments the rest of the team quite well.

machoke.gif

Machoke (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dynamic Punch
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab

Eviolite Machoke is a fun Pokemon. Thanks to the Eviolite, Machoke can tank hits very well from the Physical side or the Special side. With Machoke's below average speed, that boost to its bulk is a godsend. Dynamic Punch is the STAB of choice with No Guard behind it. Bullet Punch is good for picking off weakened targets, Knock Off is good for utility annd/or Psychic types, and Poison Jab is for Fairies. As for the Evs, max Attack for the most damage possible, 216 speed puts Machoke in a decent, albiet not very high, speed tier, while the 40 HP helps pad out its bulk a bit.

electrode.gif

Electrode @ Choice Specs
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Signal Beam
- Hidden Power [Ice]

This one, I admit I added on a whim. The Evs and Choice Specs allow Electrode to outspeed almost anything, while doing very good damage. Thunderbolt and Volt Switch are pretty obvious, Signal Beam is semi there for coverage and semi there because Electrode's movepool isn't exactly vast. H.P. Ice is for ground types and bulky grass Pokemon. Aftermath is a fun ability, as (if the opponent makes contact) they lose 25% of their health. Thanks to the Choice Specs, Electrode can potentially get a knock out from the Aftermath damage.

gogoat.gif

Gogoat (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 200 Atk / 200 SpA / 108 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Horn Leech
- Earthquake
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Gogoat was added for one main reason; mixed attacking. Gogoat has nice stats and a good movepool to do so. So the EVs are set to give a good boost its damage while also increasing its speed. Assault Vest gives a nice Special Defense boost to allow for more switch in opportunities. As for the moves, Horn Leech drains HP to keep Gogoat healthy, Earthquake and Surf make for amazing coverage, and H.P. Fire is good for Ice Pokemon.

So, what do you guys think? Any and all constructive criticism is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Okay so I'm going to point out a few changes. First, Zebstrika or Raichu > Electrode. While Electrode has a cool Speed Stat, it doesn't outpace anything Raichu or Zebstrika don't, and has smaller coverage.

Also, your Machoke EVs are off (you would need to actually have to join the PU room / look on their forums for the correct one), and should be 160 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Def / 20 SpD / 60 Spe, which allows it to outpace uninvested Lickilicky and Piloswine, while having the most bulk and attack it can salvage.

The EVs on Dwebble should be Max Attack and Speed instead of HP investment to make it easier for it to get down to Sturdy and use its Custap Berry.

Your Gogoat set isn't particularly good, as the best it can do is something such as 228 HP / 56 Atk / 224 SpD with Bulk Up (this set would give you a solid Pokemon to switch into Poliwrath), and Assault Vest doesn't fit it. You could either switch to that set, or use something such as Jumpluff with U-turn / Seed Bomb / Acrobatics / Sleep Powder with no item to have a fast mon and preserve momentum.

Finally, I'd suggest Hidden Power Fighting > Dazzling Gleam on Kadabra as it allows it to take on Pawniard by Encoring it into Sucker Punch and proceeding to kill it, instead of having to switch out or getting pursuit trapped. Also Focus Sash > Life Orb to take on set up sweepers (especially shell smash) and survive a single hit if it's intact.

Zebstrika @ Life Orb
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Raichu @ Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Grass Knot
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch

Machoke @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Def / 20 SpD / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- ThunderPunch

Dwebble @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Counter / Knock Off
- Rock Blast

Gogoat @ Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 228 HP / 48 Atk / 232 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Horn Leech
- Earthquake
- Milk Drink

Jumpluff
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn / Swords Dance / Memento
- Acrobatics
- Seed Bomb
- Sleep Powder

Kadabra @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

OK, I'll rate this as Twix had some good points but didn't explain a lot of them and there's still a plenty more to go over. The team starts out as a standard-ish HO build but kinda misses its mark and most of the sets need a bit of tweaking. First of all, max HP is fine on Dwebble so I don't agree with that change but I say that Counter is a good move to run over Knock Off, as it can nab kills and still leave you with the Custap Berry. This change is mostly personal preference though and the other stuff I'm suggesting is more important for making a viable team.

Focus Sash should be used over Life Orb on Kadabra, as the utility in stopping threatening setup sweepers is far more important than the increased damage output. Something like Rock Polish Regice is currently a huge threat to your team, and the magic guard sash can help out a lot. You've also said that Dazzling Gleam is only "for coverage" when it's really quite inferior coverage to Hidden Power Fighting, which hits Pawniard and Probopass for you. Thunder Wave is a far more useful move over Encore, as it can permanently cripple the setup sweepers that Kadabra is unable to actually KO, such as Regice. If you still want Encore, then Shadow Ball is the best move to replace as Psychic/Twave/HP fighting is pretty much essential for Kadabra to do its job. Moving onto Barbaracle, Aerial Ace>Earthquake as a coverage move. A lot of this coverage looks like you threw on the most powerful move you could find, but Aerial Ace is pretty important for hitting Poliwrath and the relevant Grass-types in the tier, whereas Earthquake really doesn't help against like anything at all. On Machoke, I like the idea of fast lure to keep your hazards up but to do that you're going to need Thunderpunch over Poison Jab. In addition, 164 Speed is all you need to beat Pelipper, and the rest of your EVs don't really beat anything that you need to (the rest of the speed can go back to HP). With this spread you can now KO Pelipper before it has a chance to Defog. Poison Jab looks good at first, but Thunderpunch already hits Togetic, Mime dies to Knock+Bullet Punch, and standard spdef Clefairy is 2HKO'd by DynamicPunch after its Eviolite is knocked off. Also gonna recommend running guts and close combat just because you don't have a great status absorber, but again that's more of a personal preference and not totally necessary.

I'm afraid the final two members of your team just aren't viable. Offensive Electrode is terrible and even a good Gogoat set like Sub/Bulk Up isn't great while Assault Vest is terrible. As it stands, your team is very weak to Jumpluff so Zebstrika>Electrode seems like an easy change. Zebra still outspeeds pretty much everything Electrode does but can also counter Jumpluff while being far better than Electrode, which is weak, hates being locked into moves with specs, and doesn't have the same good coverage as Zebra or the other Electrics in the tier. I've also elected to give it Hidden Power Ice over the standard Grass in the importable, as it helps keep hazards up versus the rare Vibrava and your team handles Golem and Piloswine fairly well. As for Gogoat's replacement, I think your best option is standard Quick Feet Ursaring. This slot could use some more experimentation rather than just what I think when looking at your team on paper, but it helps your matchup versus offense significantly and can outspeed and KO threatening pokemon such as Rapidash and Simipour. It's an excellent breaker with hazards up, and the SD set also helps versus the annoying Clefairy/Tangela core that's been running around recently. This team really isn't that bad, it just needs a few tweaks on sets that seem like they'd be viable to someone new but just aren't in the current meta, such as EQ barb. This looks like a lot, but the overall setup is nice, gj with this team m8.

Knock Off --> Counter?
Life Orb --> Focus Sash
Dazzling Gleam --> Hidden Power Fighting
Encore --> Thunder Wave
Earthquake --> Aerial Ace
Poison Jab --> Thunderpunch
216 Speed --> 164 Speed
Electrode --> Zebstrika
Gogoat --> Ursaring

Ursaring @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Quick Feet

Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Swords Dance

Zebstrika @ Life Orb
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Damn thanks guys. Ill def. give a few of these ideas a try. But if you don't mind me asking one more very very stupid question....how do you make those folders in the replies? I honestly have no idea how to do that and Im hoping to test out the team with some changes then come back here to reply to the people who helped me re=shape the team. So yeah really stupid question but I really don't know how to do that XD

As for the team itself, yeah I noticed that Electrode wasn't exactly as great as I was hoping, so I'm thinking of replacing it with Raichu, and as for Gogoat, Either I'll replace it with Jumpluff or I'll find a different Poke to take its place altogether.

Thanks again
