Thor's Legacy(OU)

So, here's my first stab a building a real team. This time, I'm not going to just toss a bunch of favorites in the team, then slowly try to worm out the weaknesses. All teams need a starting point, so we'd might as well start with one of my favorites, who also happens to be a great Pokemon, Dragonite.

dpmba149.png

Ymir (M) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP/52 Atk/204 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch

At these Spd Evs, I'm able to outspeed a scarfed Starmie at +2, which is the ultimate goal of this build. Yache berry is there to almost guarantee me a turn of set-up, while giving me the possibility of two turns if my opponent is using Ice Beam. Ice Shard is a little tougher to deal with due to priority, but managable. Dragon Claw and Fire Punch give me excellent coverage, resisted only by Heatran, who will be reluctant to switch-in with the threat of Earthquake, and Heatproof Bronzong, but those are far too rare to worry about.

Next, we need something to take on a lot of those guys that threaten Dragonite. I've stumbled upon possibly the best option out there:

dpmba143.png

Thokk (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Seed Bomb
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Crunch

As soon as I learned that Snorlax learned Seed Bomb for some mucked up reason, I knew I needed it on this set. Normally, bulky waters don't expect a super-effective move from Snorlax, so I'm sure to get a nice KO. The only Dragonite threat that I'll have to worry about with this set is Skarmory, who walls this set like it was born to. Thick fat and high SDef allows me to take on Ice Shards and Ice Beams with laughable damage. Scizor massively threatens this pokemon with Superpower, and generally makes it tough for Dragonite to get any set-up time, so I'll need something to take care of a lot of those pesky Steel and Ice types that will threaten my sweep even more.

For some more great threatening coverage against some big problems Dragonite will run into, here comes Electivire!

dpmba466.png

Jarn Greipr (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spe, -Def)
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt
- Cross Chop
- Ice Punch

Here's pretty much the standard Electivire, slightly modified for better coverage. Ice punch takes care of quite a few threats, Cross Chop is pretty much my only fighting type move (which I'm thinking about replacing with Low Kick), and Thunderbolt is there for any physical walls that move my way, like Skarmory. Flamethrower is in here over Fire Punch, because most of the things I'll be hitting with Fire moves have a weaker Sdef anyways.

Alright, time for a breakdown. So far, we have the following weaknesses and resistances happening:

chart1s.jpg

dpmba134.png

Fenris (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Heal Bell

I've decided to give Vaporeon this set without an attacking move, because my team is a steel-mashing machine. The only poison type I'm expecting trouble from is Tentacruel, who is handily handled by Electivire or Snorlax. Heal bell for clerical happiness, and Wish passing to keep Dragonite alive for future sweeps. I really wanted Baton Pass for the slow switch, but the utility in this set it too good to "pass" up. He he ho ha.

Enough of that...

Time for another chart!

[Chart2]

At this point, I've got to pick a lead and something to round-off my type coverage. According to the chart...

dpmba260.png

Mjollnir (M) @ Rindo Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Focus Punch
- Earthquake
- Substitute
- Roar

Swampert covers a heck of a lot of weaknesses my team was running, as well as provides a bit of a physical wall to tank a lot of stuff. The most common switch-in I see is Celebi, who is really tough to deal with, and the rotom formes give me trouble, but both of those are fairly handily dealt with by Snorlax. Roar prevents set-up, which happens a lot, and Sub on the switch gives me a nice way to stall out most of his threats. With Stealth Rock up, I can accumulate a lot of damage very easily. When I anticipate a Trick, I'll switch into Empoleon or Electivire, who don't mind revieving choice Specs or Scarf. (I once got Specs on Empoleon and swept an entire team with Hydro Pump xD)

chart3.jpg

At this point, I'm lacking a lead, and sporting a handy Grass weakness and lack of resistance for a lot of things. At first, my choice was Metagross, but I think he lacks a lot of power as a lead, that I've managed to find elsewhere...

395.png

Megingjord @ Focus Sash
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 156 HP / 252 SpA / 100 Spe
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Hydro Pump
- Aqua Jet
- Ice Beam

This one's a bit of a standard set...in fact it's the exact standard set. Depending on what I see, I'll go with one of two options. If it looks like I can go for a quick KO, I'll toss Hydro Pump around, and Aqua Jet as I need to. Ice Beam for coverage, and Stealth Rock is there to help promote the Dragonite Sweep. He'll also attract more Electirc-type attacks to help pump Electivire.

My team overall is looking very good for switch-ins. The only thing it looks like I have to worry about is the odd Earthquake, but most EQ users I'm worried about are outsped by +1 Electivire, and smacked around by Swampert.

hello

I have some suggestions for your team:

- If you're leading with Dragonite then this will be a better moveset:

i_dragonite.gif

Dragonite @ lum berry/ quiet/ inner focus
252 Atk, 252 SAtk, 6 Spe

- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Extreme Speed

--> With Extreme Speed, Dragonite makes a perfect anti-lead. Draco Meteor deals with Swampert, Hippowdon, and to lesser extent Smeargle, ... leads. Earthquake is for Heatran leads. Fire Blast Is for Roserade leads, who you will defeat because you have Lum Berry. Since Roserade will most likely Sleep Powder, while Fire Blast + Extreme Speed = a dead Roserade. ^^

Quiet nature and 6 Spe EV's let's you outspeed + 0 Spe EV's Heatran. Of course Dragonite can come in later in the game to do the same thing again.

- Snorlax has a crappy Def stat, while it's SDef is pretty good Snorlax should be used as your special wall, Swampert does well at physical walling. It's moveset is also not really good so I suggest using the simple Curse-pert:

i_snorlax.gif

Snorlax @ leftovers/ carefull/ thick fat
168 HP, 120 Def, 220 SDef

- Curse
- Rest
- Body Slam
- Fire Punch

--> Cursepert could really screw over teams, especially when you bring it in against a foe who is forced to switch out so you can get a free Curse up. Body Slam is to paralyse a foe allowing you to Curse up or so you can outspeed even after a Curse. Fire Punch is for coverage as it hit steels and ghosts immune to Body Slam. Fire Punch is also an answer to Scizor without Superpower (Brick Break). Bulky waters can't do nothing to Curse-lax (except for (p)hazing) so Seed Bomb isn't really a necesity here.

- You could indeed replace for Low kick on Electivire, it has beter acc, more pp and it does about the same damage to the likes of Tyranitar. Although I suggest P ice over Ice Punch since ice attacks are for dragons and the most common of all is Salamence, whos Intimidate could annoy. O the other hand ThunderPunch is better then Thunderbolt since this way you could hurt a far progressed CM-cune, Flamethrower still deals with Skarmory, .... Electivire also has a higher attack stat then special attack stat so don't let it go to wast on his STAB move.

- It's not good to have a pokemon without any moves. I suggest dropping Toxic for Protect on Vaporeon.

- You have 3 water types on your team and that's a little to much, You still need a ghost type to cover Snorlax' fighting weakness. I suggest using a rotom form yourself. You have quitte a problem with Lucario and Scizor so I suggest the heat form:

rotomh10.png

Rotom @ choice scarf/ timid/ levitate
6 HP, 252 Spe, 252 SAtk

- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Trick
- Shadow Ball

--> Rotom makes an excelent revenge killer and it covers a whole lot of your weaknesses (Scizor, Lucario, Gyarados (with 1 DD), ...). Moveset is obvious.

Hope this helped!

EDIT: lol, you should put your lead on top. anyway: Empoleon makes a fine lead and it attracts electric attack to let you sweep with Electivire.

Since Empoleon is your lead, I would suggest switching Dragonite with Salamence, to supply you with an answer to stall:

i_salamence.gif

Salamence @ life orb/ mild/ intimidate
84 Atk, 216 SAtk, 208 Spe

- Earthquake
- Draco Meteor
- Outrage
- Fire Blast

--> a very good wallbreaker, Moveset is also obvious.

Hope I helped!

OP, rearrange your team; it's not clear you're leading with Empoleon.

Why is it important to outspeed Scarf Starmie, of all things? You might also want to consider Haban Berry, given that Latias and Salamence are both exceptionally common (more so than Ice Beam these days, I find).

Salamence is better than Dragonite in every way, except for Dragonite making a nice Anti-Lead.
Use this set for Salamence:
i_salamence.gif

Salamence @ Life Orb
Nature: Naive
Ability: Intimidate
EV's: 232 Atk / 24 SpA / 252 Spe
Moveset:
~ Dragon Dance
~ Outrage
~ Earthquake
~ Stone Edge/Dragon Claw/Fire Blast
This is the standard DDMence, it can sweep teams easily after one DD. Fire Blast also helps with your Scizor/Lucario weakness, this thing is much better than Dragonite.
Hope I helped!

Just to say, I've intentionally built this team around Dragonite, so I probably won't be dropping him ever. I'm testing a few builds that replace Swampert, and I'm loving the Curselax build with three attacks.

I've never personally liked Rotom, and I'm finding Dusknoir fairly successful with this build:
Dusknoir @ Life Orb
Adamant 252 Atk/252 HP/4 Def
Shadow Sneak
Payback
Fire Punch
Will-O-Wisp
