Victini @ Choice Band
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt

Banded V-create is one of the hardest moves to switch into in the whole tier, hitting so damn hard that pex of all things has a chance to straight up die to 2 of them after rocks. Not to mention you have the option to simply OHKO with terrain boosted Bolt Strike and deal 90% without terrain.

252 Atk Choice Band Victini V-create vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Toxapex: 127-150 (41.9 - 49.5%) -- 25.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Choice Band Victini Bolt Strike vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Toxapex: 246-290 (81.1 - 95.7%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Choice Band Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Tangrowth: 594-698 (147 - 172.7%) -- guaranteed overkill

Hoopa-U

Hoopa-Unbound @ Choice Band
Ability: Magician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hyperspace Fury
- Gunk Shot
- Fire Punch
- Zen Headbutt
252 Atk Choice Band Hoopa-Unbound Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Tangrowth: 370-436 (91.5 - 107.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Choice Band Hoopa-Unbound Zen Headbutt vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Toxapex: 318-374 (104.9 - 123.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

In both cases Hoopa-U can damage superefectively. However, it can also just click Hyperspace Fury and claim 2HKO to both of them. Just a beast.

MHeracross

Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Rock Blast / Bullet Seed
- Pin Missile

252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Tangrowth: 480-570 (118.8 - 141%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Toxapex: 275-325 (90.7 - 107.2%) -- approx. 31.3% chance to OHKO after Black Sludge recovery

It is true that it needs a SD to beat easily Toxapex. However, in a swtich it can do it and if the grassy terrain is active it can claim a 2HKO with bullet seed. Another great wallbreaker (breaking these two walls, of course).

Kyurem-Black @ Icium Z
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Freeze Shock
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Roost

or any set really

cant believe nobody thought of this monster before )= its amazing at breaking fat cores like this one, doenst even need to predict and also doesnt care about any move besides toxic which could be annoying if you need it in the long term, but its better than being burned with scald which doesnt happen that often nowadays

Volcanion @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Steam Eruption
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
This volcanion set can shut down pex as it just sub up on it. At the same time, fire blast is a 2hko Tang while EQ from tang takes 3hkos Volc.

Garchomp @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Swords Dance

Highlights

Threat of the Week:

: The core barely has any room to play around any of Tapu Lele's sets.

Not Archived

None, nice job.

Round 33 Core: Volcarona + Tapu Fini

Volcarona @ Buginium Z
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Quiver Dance

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 76 SpA / 20 SpD / 148 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlpool
- Nature's Madness
- Taunt
- Moonblast

  • Whirlpool Tapu Fini acts as a Toxapex lure, and can also Defog Stealth Rock off the field if desired, which allows Volcarona to run loose.
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Volcarona + Tapu Fini. Everyone have a good day!

This week's Song of the Week will be "Venom", which is one of the several songs featured on "Kamikaze" from Eminem.

Tapu Koko @ Electrium Z
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wild Charge
- Brave Bird
- Taunt
- U-turn

This Tapu Koko set is able to threaten Volcarona with Brave Bird and Tapu Fini with Gigavolt Havor/Wild Charge and outspeed both Pokemon.
Taunt stops Tapu Fini from Defogging and Volcarona from setting up, while U-turn allows it to gain momentum for its team.

252 Atk Tapu Koko Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 340-402 (109.3 - 129.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Tapu Koko Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona in Electric Terrain: 559-658 (179.7 - 211.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Tapu Koko Wild Charge vs. 248 HP / 16 Def Tapu Fini: 236-282 (68.8 - 82.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Tapu Koko Wild Charge vs. 248 HP / 16 Def Tapu Fini in Electric Terrain: 356-422 (103.7 - 123%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Tapu Koko Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 16 Def Tapu Fini: 458-542 (133.5 - 158%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery

1_TrickPhony

BSS Circuit Co-host
Pinsir @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Earthquake
- Quick Attack

QA revenges volc w/ minimum chip and doesn't have to worry about getting burned. It also outspeeds w/out a QD boost. SD into Return OHKOs Fini. Return does ~60ish damage w/ no boosts.

Protean Greninja
F8A635A4-DF0F-4520-A704-C3D91E430CC8.gif

Greninja @ Waterium Z
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Spikes
- Hydro Pump
- Gunk Shot
- Hidden Power Fire
If Greninja gets in before the Volcarona uses Quiver Dance, Greninja has an easy time breaking this core with Hydro Pump and Gunk Shot.

I used this core before back around April but with a Psychium Volcarona and a Taunt Fini and it was one of the most fun cores I played around with. I do know how to easily dismantle it:

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

Once Excadrill is in the Sand, there’s nothing that this core can do to beat it. Fini gets 2HKOed from a regular EQ so it can’t switch in and it just gets straight up OHKOed by a +2 Earthquake while Volcarona gets crushed by the falling rocks.

+

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 36 SpD / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Roost

Well we all know what this thing does under screens. Once you come in on the appropriate terrain, simply use this non-shattered psyche volc that you scare away with an OHKO potential as setup fodder and slice off 90% of Fini's HP with a +2 Acrobatics. You don't even need to worry about volc being sacked to trigger Flame Body since its packing Swarm.

252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 444-524 (142.7 - 168.4%) -- guaranteed overkill
+2 252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 248 HP / 16 Def Tapu Fini: 271-321 (79 - 93.5%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
76 SpA Tapu Fini Moonblast vs. 96 HP / 36 SpD Hawlucha through Light Screen: 147-174 (45.7 - 54.2%) -- 48.8% chance to 2HKO

Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Steam Eruption
- Sludge Wave

Choice Specs Volcanion threatens both heavily. Volcanion is a great switchin to Fini as it resists moonblast and it's ability water absorb guarentees a free switch in to Tapu Fini, as it is able to get health back as well.
Steam Eruption threatens Volcarona and prevents Volcarona from Setting Up infront of it.
Since bulky Grasses like Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu are highly common right now in the current metagame it helps a lot in those scenarios too, since with it's high breaking power it can support the team as well to get past them.

Gyarados @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Moxie
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Bounce
- Waterfall
- Earthquake / Taunt

Gyara revenge kills boosted Volc thanks to its typing, gets Moxie boost and doesn't worry about burn since in this core Volc runs Swarm. Fini is used as a setup fodder, especially for Taunt Gyara. At +1, Gyara has really big chance to OHKO Fini with SSSS.
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Savage Spin-Out (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gyarados: 219-258 (66.1 - 77.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Gyarados Waterfall vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 362-428 (116.3 - 137.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252 Atk Gyarados Supersonic Skystrike (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 16 Def Tapu Fini: 333-393 (97 - 114.5%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

@

Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Extreme Speed
- Iron Tail
- Outrage

Choice Band Zygarde I feel is able to break this core phenomenally. Thousand Arrows is able to 2HKO Tapu Fini, which Tapu Fini in return has no method of recovery bar Leftovers. Volcarona lives Thousand Arrows 50% of the time, and Outrage always kills, but usually,Volcarona needs to QD to beat Zygarde with Z Bug Buzz.

252+ Atk
Thousand Arrows vs. 0 HP / 0 Def
: 288-339 (92.6 - 109%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk
Thousand Arrows vs. 248 HP / 16 Def
: 177-208 (51.6 - 60.6%) -- 92.6% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

76 SpA
Moonblast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD
: 222-264 (62 - 73.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk
Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def
: 382-450 (122.8 - 144.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252 SpA
Savage Spin-Out (175 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD
: 459-541 (128.2 - 151.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Qwilfish @ Life Orb
Adamant Nature
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Liquidation
- Explosion
- Poison Jab

When rain is up, Qwilfish is able to RK Volca at +1 (and can switch in on an unboosted Savage spin-out if necessary and also on hp ground) and 2HKO any set of Tapu Fini with poison jab while resisting both stabs of both mons

Highlights

Threat of the Week:

: Just dumpsters the core.

Additional Notes:

: There's no reason for this to be Choice Specs. Choice Specs is honestly a really bad set, but I'll still archive this for its Substitute set, which is actually really annoying.
: Brave Bird isn't very good on Tapu Koko, but it's still annoying to deal with without it.

Round 34 Core: Mega Lopunny + Ash-Greninja

Lopunny-Mega (M) @ Lopunnite
Ability: Scrappy
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Frustration
- Power-Up Punch
- High Jump Kick
- Ice Punch / Fake Out / Encore

Greninja-Ash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Water Shuriken
- Dark Pulse
- Spikes

  • Mega Lopunny + Ash-Greninja is a fairly cookie cutter offensive core. Mega Lopunny is walled by bulky Psychic-types which Ash-Greninja takes care of, Ash-Greninja also provides Spikes support for Mega Lopunny.
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Mega Lopunny + Ash-Greninja. Everyone have a good day!

Tapu Lele @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power Fire
- Nature's Madness

Uncommon set right now, but still usable as it outspeed both, negates priority from both, OHKO both with Moonblast and can tank a hit from M-Loppuny and pre-Ash Greninja if needed. Nature's Madness cripple switch ins like AV Magearna if they predict the scarf.

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 36 SpD / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Roost

You're faster than both because of Unburden, you live Water Shuriken + several Fake Outs and OHKO both with High Jump Kick.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 156 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power Fire

Mega Venusaur deals with both very well. That’s about it. It’s a bit vulnerable to Spikes I guess, but nothing that hampers its ability to check the duo too much.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic

Pex can constantly switch on Ash-Greninja and stall it out with Toxic. M-Lop hates being burned, and Pex can take on some hits from boosted M-Lop. Pex can't constantly switch on boosted M-Lop, though, and it really dislikes Spikes.

Kartana.png

Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sacred Sword
- Leaf Blade
- Defog / Knock Off
- Smart Strike

Scarf Kartana is a solid check to both Lopunny-Mega and Ash-Greninja as it threatens them with Sacred Sword.
Kartana tanks the priority moves from both of these specific mons as it tanks a specs Water Shuriken from Gren as well as Fake Out from Lop.
Scarf Kartana is also a great fit on most offensive teams and also provides great speed control. Defog > Knock off or Smart Strike is also an option to consider but overall scarf Kartana is a great check to this core.

Calcs:
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Water Shuriken (20 BP) (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kartana: 198-234 (76.4 - 90.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Lopunny-Mega Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 27-32 (10.4 - 12.3%) -- possible 9HKO

Mega Zam
Outspeeds both members of this core and OHKOs both with Focus Blast and Psychic. It’s not as infallible as it looks tho, as it is vulnerable to the duo’s priority.

Mega-Swampert under rain outspeed both mons. Waterfall has a high chance to 0HKO Mlopu and eq can 0HKO Ash-gren (if there is SR both kills are garanted)

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 248 HP / 224 SpD / 36 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Fleur Cannon
- Iron Head
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Volt Switch

kills both with fleur cannon and survives both (with rolls)
252 Atk Lopunny-Mega High Jump Kick vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 195-231 (53.7 - 63.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 133-157 (36.6 - 43.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
