Tapu Lele @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire

Any set with HP Fire and Psychic works here; Specs is particularly notable because it can OHKO both members of the core. As long as Lele is Timid, it will outspeed both mons.

252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 244 HP / 108 SpD Gliscor in Psychic Terrain: 366-432 (103.9 - 122.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Scizor-Mega: 392-464 (114.2 - 135.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Even if Lele isn't Specs, the right move will maim either member of the core, and while both can retaliate, neither can OHKO it unboosted. Z-Move sets have the distinction of easily living +2 Knock Off from Scizor.

0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 132-156 (46.9 - 55.5%) -- 69.5% chance to 2HKO
0 Atk Scizor-Mega Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 126-149 (44.8 - 53%) -- 30.5% chance to 2HKO
+2 0 Atk Scizor-Mega Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 169-199 (60.1 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

- Fusion Bolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]

LOKB has a superb matchup vs Gliscor for obvious reasons (lol Ice Beam), and with HP Fire it is able to easily eliminate Scizor as it switches in, OHKOing it if SR is on the field and having a favorable chance to net the KO without it. It needs to be careful if it doesn't catch Scizor on the switch though, as Bullet Punch chunks KyuB for a solid 50%.

Felixx

I'm back.
A ton of good posts last week, good job to all of you, now here’s the part where I give my thoughts on some of the submissions…

Highlights

Specs Pelipper: I haven't seen this set in a while, but it gets “Threat of the Week” for being a really creative submission. Egor

M-Gyarados: GOAT mon, will actually eat this core alive because of the lack of U-turn on Scizor, second favorite submission for this week. stuuful12

M-Latios: STAB-less M-Latios actually works. Huh, that's pretty weird, and pretty neat. PrideMustang

Z-Fire Heatran: This, in my opinion, is the best Heatran set to use rn, and same as you, I do like my Modest Trans because the speed Timid gives only really matters against other Trans. ayman x

None, great work this week guys!

For this week we have two offensive behemoths in Zygarde and M-Pinsir, as usual you guys have 7 days to get your submissions in, afterwards I'll be checking the thread and archiving the viable mons, and giving my thoughts on them.

Week 15 Core: Zygarde + M-Pinsir

Zygarde @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Aura Break
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 240 Atk / 88 SpD / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Iron Tail
- Extreme Speed
- Dragon Dance

Pinsir-Mega (M) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Frustration
- Quick Attack
- Earthquake

  • To celebrate the release of Shiny Zygarde, the best Shiny ever created, we will be doing a more old school Offensive core of Zygarde + M-Pinsir, but here Zygarde will be utilizing the extremely destructive Weakess Policy set, which is able to overwhelm common checks such as Landorus, Clefable, and Tapu Bulu, all very easily, while Pinsir is using the simple SD + EQ set. This core has very minimal defensive counterplay, make sure to remember that when posting, now go ahead and get to breaking it!
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Zygarde + M-Pinsir. Everyone have a good day!

Btw this post was slightly late bc I was playing Pokemon Reborn so sorry for dat lol, really fun game tho

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Koko is easily able to handle both pinsir and zygarde, as it not only resists pinsir's stab, but is able to survive a boosted zygarde's thousand arrows and retaliate with hp ice

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Stealth Rock / Knock Off

Mamoswine can easily stop either of these Pokemon from sweeping thanks to its STAB Ice Shard, which heavily damages Zygarde and Mega Pinsir. While it doesn't outright OHKO either, it needs very little chip damage to beat Zygarde, and only needs Mega Pinsir to have taken around 45% damage prior (which isn't that weird to think about, considering Stealth Rock can be up, and how Mega Pinsir needs a turn to set up where it can get attacked).

252 Atk Life Orb Mamoswine Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Pinsir-Mega: 148-174 (54.6 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Mamoswine Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Zygarde: 296-348 (82.9 - 97.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
- Pursuit

Weavile is a super potent mon atm and proves to be a big threat to this core as it can just kill both members with Icicle Crash. Moreover, most of the time Weavile is able to live both prios without rocks on the field.

252 Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 127-151 (45.1 - 53.7%) -- 36.3% chance to 2HKO
240+ Atk Zygarde Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 113-133 (40.2 - 47.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Furthermore it can revenge both members with Ice Shard.
The only problem would be if Pinsir SDs in regular, allowing it to live Crash, so you'd have to sack a mon to revenge with Ice Shard.

Latios-Mega (M) @ Latiosite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Earthquake

Mega Latios easily outspeeds both mons in this core. It also easily takes both Extreme Speed and Quick Attack. Draco Meteor crushes the bug and smites the dragon.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Whirlwind

Hippowdon can take hits from both, including a +2 Return from Mega Pinsir, and process to Whirlwind both out, making it so Mega Pinsir loses half of its HP via Steakth Rock or just making Zygarde unable to set up on Hippowdon. Pretty straightforward in all fairness.

Greninja @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 Spa / 4 Spdef / 252 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- Spikes
Ash Greninja is a good threat to this core thanks to being able to Ohko both members of the core after a set of Spikes and Rocks, which it sets up. It also put prioritizes Mega Pinsir's Quick Attack and KOes it if it has taken any chip prior

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam

Kyurem-B threatens both Zygarde and M-Pinsir with an OHKO, and only fears a +2 Frustration or M-Pinsir with Close Combat (not listed in this set).

Offensive Calcs
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 88 SpD Zygarde: 691-816 (193.5 - 228.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Pinsir-Mega: 398-468 (146.8 - 172.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Defensive Calcs

+2 252 Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Frustration vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 454-535 (116.1 - 136.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Magearna @ Fairium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
IVs: 0 Spe
Quiet Nature
- Trick Room
- Fleur Cannon
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt

OTR Magearna can setup TR on both unboosted Zygarde and M Pinsir and OHKO Zygarde with Fleur Cannon or Twinke Tackle and M Pinsir with +1 Thunderbolt or Twinkle Tackle. After setup TR using Twinkle Tackle instead of Fleur Cannon or Thunderbolt is recommended to pick a guaranteed OHKO on either Zygarde or M Pinsir and get +1 SpA boost from Soul-Heart.

240+ Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Magearna: 236-282 (64.8 - 77.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 0 HP / 88 SpD Zygarde: 444-524 (124.3 - 146.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Pinsir-Mega Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Magearna: 220-260 (60.4 - 71.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Pinsir-Mega: 381-448 (140.5 - 165.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Tapu Lele @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Focus blast
- Hidden Power Fire

While scarf is not exactly its most common set these days, whenever you do see it, it ends up being a nightmare for offensive teams to deal with, and pinsir + zygarde is no exception. They both take heaps from lele's STABs, so much so that the 88 spdef on zygarde is clearly there to avoid the OHKO from timid lele's moonblast. This is easily remedied by running modest with some entry hazards on the team.

Here's the mons you miss out on by running modest, only one of which isn't a scarfer/speed booster, and only a few of which are important:
475 / Kyurem-Black, Sharpedo, Tapu Lele, Zygarde / 95 / +Spe / 252 / +1
465 / Charizard (Mega-X), Volcarona / 100 / +Spe / 184 / +1
465 / Kyurem-Black / 95 / +Spe / 224 / +1
463 / Sharpedo (Mega) / 105 / Neutral / 252 / +1
463 / Landorus-Therian / 91 / +Spe / 252 / +1
459 / Porygon-Z / 90 / +Spe / 252 / +1
458 / Magearna / 65 / Neutral / 252 / +2
453 / Excadrill / 88 / +Spe / 252 / +1
448 / Charizard (Mega-X), Manaphy, Salamence, Volcarona / 100 / Neutral / 252 / +1
438 / Aerodactyl (Mega), Alakazam (Mega) / 150 / +Spe / 252 / 0
433 / Sharpedo, Tapu Lele, Zygarde / 95 / Neutral / 252 / +1

Only things to worry about here are zam, scarf lando, and speed tying with 252 adamant zygarde at +1. Lele can't do much to magearna even if you outspeed, Volcarona and ZardX outspeed you at +1 no matter what, Jolly Zygarde is an unset, Porygon Z and Shark are rare and I haven't seen drill or kyurem run scarf in ages.

252+ SpA Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Pinsir-Mega in Psychic Terrain: 264-312 (97.4 - 115.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 88 SpD Zygarde: 324-384 (90.7 - 107.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes or 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 88 SpD Zygarde: 296-350 (82.9 - 98%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes

EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Defog
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

The most problematic scene against this ultra-agressive core is if you are using semi-stall / balance. To answer this (also checking other mons) a Support M Latias is used. Betwen nice bulk, good special attack, Defog and BoltBeam coverage, this is a Pokémon that gives headache to most offensive team builds. Also, bluffing Stored Power is another nice tool for early game kills.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have finally answered the age old question.

I have found it.
Except, I improved it.
The new Freeze Dry mechanic allows you to OHKO Mantine, Swampert, Gastrodon, and Quagsire. It can even 2HKO Toxapex!
Choice Specs increases your icepower to insanely levels, letting you 2HKO Pex, and 3HKO Magearna and 2HKO Tyranitar!
Snow Warning means you don’t have to worrying about not having powers when Syndromes or the Omnidroids are attacking.
And best of all,

Scarf Greninja outspeeds boosted Zygarde and Pinsir, OHKOs both with Ice Beam and Rock Slide, and takes +1 ESpeed easily and also survives +2 Quick Attack 3/4 probability.
80 SpA Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 88 SpD Zygarde: 408-484 (114.2 - 135.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 240+ Atk Zygarde Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Greninja: 164-194 (57.5 - 68%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
176 Atk Protean Greninja Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Pinsir-Mega: 316-376 (116.6 - 138.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Greninja: 249-294 (87.3 - 103.1%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

Pyukumuku

Pyukumuku @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Soak
- Recover
- Block / Counter
Both mons are set up so Unaware is a good choice. Pyukumuku over Quag because Quag takes too much from Return while Pyukumuku can toxic and recover with higher bulk.
240+ Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Pyukumuku: 81-96 (25.7 - 30.5%) -- 1.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Pyukumuku: 136-162 (43.3 - 51.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Even with rocks Pyukumuku can just recover to safety.

I post curse Quagsire because he can handle the core and set up on them unlike the toxic variant

252 Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 183-216 (46.4 - 54.8%) -- 62.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
The roll can be scary if you have a toxic variant and you risk beeing killed.

But the curse variant can eat this up

252 Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Return vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 121-144 (30.7 - 36.5%) -- 5.1% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

YEAH you tank that and can set up on pinsir or force him out:mehowth:

Zygarde is not a threat

240+ Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 108-127 (27.4 - 32.2%) -- 98.9% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

240+ Atk Zygarde Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 144-169 (36.5 - 42.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

You see? :mehowth:

Highlights

Pyukumuku: This gets the "Threat of the Week", it's cool and creative, and it's also on an OU Sample Team but isn't even on the OU VR for some reason  Chessking345

Weavile: This is an absolutely headache for this core if it stays healthy enough, and it's a good mon in general. honeydip

Hippowdon: What an underrated fat mon. lyd

Shuca Tapu Koko: This actually dosen't work because of the Weakness Policy, and even if you predict and go for HP Ice on the switch, +2 Espeed (due to WP) does over half to Koko, so this is unfortunately a no-go for the archives. curiosity

Aurorus: Incredibles 2 better be heat. Flame from Heaven

For this week we have Specs Keldeo and HP Fire M-Latios, you guys have 8 days to get your submissions in, afterwards I'll be checking the thread and archiving the viable mons, and giving my thoughts on them.

Week 16 Core: Keldeo + M-Latios

EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature

- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Earthquake

  • Let's do a fun one this week, so here I'm showcasing Specs Keldeo + M-Latios! Honestly M-Latios needs no introduction, you guys already know about the 2nd best Mega in OU, so let me talk more about Keldeo; basically Specs Keldeo enjoys Gastrodon increasing in usage and Pex dropping in usage, which allows it to actually punch holes into a lot of Balance builds, especially those that utilize Gliscor. M-Latios is using HP Fire, while Keldeo is using Icy Wind > HP Poison since M-Latios can deal with most Tapu Bulu's anyways, and that is one of Specs Keldeo's niches over CM + Taunt Keldeo; it lures in Tapu Bulu with HP Poison, or lures in opposing M-Latios and goes for a clean 2HKO with Icy Wind even against Hasty variants, and that luring capability it has is actually really, really cool. Okay, now get to core breaking everyone!
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Keldeo + M-Latios. Everyone have a good day!
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hidden Power Poison vs. 248 HP / 56 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 256-304 (74.6 - 88.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Slack Off
Mega Slowbro resists all attacks from this core and takes little from EQ. Meanwhile, it threatens Keldeo with STAB Psyshock and Latios with Ice Beam. Scouting for Draco Meteor in game is requires though. A calm mind set also works as it is able to set up in front of both mons.
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowbro-Mega: 161-190 (40.8 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Slowbro-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 236-282 (73 - 87.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Latios-Mega Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowbro-Mega: 103-122 (26.1 - 30.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
0 SpA Slowbro-Mega Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Latios-Mega: 156-184 (51.8 - 61.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs

EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt

- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Dazzling gleam

Any koko set with Dgleam is going to ruin this core's day, but this is especially true with specs, which has enough immediate firepower to OHKO latios, unlike, say, shuca berry. This set will need volt-turn or clever predictions support to get in safely and start pressuring those two, as hard switching into specs hydro pump or psychic is a very bad idea. Of course, you'd almost never run koko without at least one extra u-turn/volt switch mon, like AV Magearna, so that's no big deal.

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Because Keldeo is Choice Specs, it underspeeds Tornadus-T and Tornadus-T can easily kill it if it manages to hit with Hurricane. Furthermore, it can also OHKO Mega Latios a majority of the time after Stealth Rock damage. This can also be Rocky Helmet Tornadus-T with Toxic over U-turn, though it's less of a threat than Flyinium Z Tornadus-T is to the core.

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Latios-Mega: 255-301 (84.7 - 100%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Mega Latias is a super good mon right now and can wall this core with relative ease as the standart M-Latios lacks Draco and even Ice Beam is not a guaranteed 2HKO without Rocks. Furthermore Latias is obviously one of the best answers to Keld.

Therefore M-Latias can CM up on Keld and also M-Latios only really fearing a crit on Spex Keldeos Icy Wind:
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Icy Wind vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 126-150 (34.6 - 41.2%)
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Icy Wind vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega on a critical hit: 190-224 (52.1 - 61.5%)

After 2 CMs none of Keldeos moves bar Secret Sword(just barely) can break the sub if u choose to run that and Lati can keep CMing and Recovering minimizing the chance to get crit multiple times. Moreover at +2 SDef M-Latios' Ice Beam is a roll in your favor to not break the sub.
After +4 +4 you OHKO M-Latios.

Problematic would obviously be the speed drop that may allow a mon that you'd regularly outspeed to revenge kill/pursuit you, but nonetheless M-Latias poses a big threat to this core because of its ability to CM up freely on both members.
