Thundurus-T
[SET]
name: Mixed
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Hidden Power Ice
move 3: Superpower
move 4: U-turn
item: Expert Belt / Life Orb
nature: Rash
evs: 24 Atk / 252 SpA / 232 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
- Solid base 105 Attack lets it run an effective mixed set
- Excellent wall breaker and lure; has advantage of not requiring setup unlike the NP set
- U-turn cannot be blocked unlike Volt Switch, so it is great for gaining momentum
- U-turn also smacks Celebi and Lati@s for decent damage, especially to the former, which are two very common checks to Thundurus-T
- Does not need to use the inaccurate Focus Blast, and can break through blobs with Superpower
- Very tough for defensive teams in general to switch into, especially those with Heatran/Celebi + Water cores
- Can bluff choice items with Expert Belt
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
- Thunder over Thunderbolt on rain teams, duh
- Life Orb can be used for that extra oomph, but the recoil will wear Thundurus-T down very quickly
- Current EV spread enables Thundurus-T to outrun max Speed neutral Hydreigon
- Can opt for a Naive nature to creep +Spe base 100s, though in most cases the extra power from Rash is preferable
- Rapid Spin support is highly recommended as you'll be switching in and out a lot - basically any spinner is a good candidate
- Teammates such as Scarf Keldeo and Gyarados appreciate the offensive pressure that Thundurus-T can provide on their counters
- Gastrodon is a great counter, so Breloom is a good teammate for this reason
- Basically any team that struggles with certain stall cores, especially those seen on sand stall, will benefit from set
Surprised to see this set was not listed on site already. It's a hell of a lot better than the current EBelt set in this metagame for one thing, and it's not like the set is particularly gimmicky or obscure. I know TUO is already doing a Thund-T set, but hell, why not?
